Tips and Misc

Though the Darkening may have receded, the Purple Dragon Knights of Cormyr are yet to fully liberate the King's Forest from the threats that arose during Lolth's invasion. A recent plague of Blights in the sacred grove of the forest goddess Mielikki suggests a Hag has taken up residence in the area, and the villagers of Eveningstar have asked you to placate them.
In order to gain an audience with the Hag you must first find her hut, which is concealed in the grove. Head south and find the yellow and purple interactable mushrooms to open the path. (Mind out for the sleeping Shambling Mound near the yellow mushroom!)
Granny Gertrude, interestingly, doesn't react to your threats of violence by attacking. Instead, she claims that she and Mielikki actually have a working relationship, and the blight infestation isn't her fault – rather, it's the fault of a villainous Red Wizard of Thay. In order to find the Wizard, she bids you leave the swamp and follow the Unicorns to your destination.
Something terrible has happened at the Shrine of Mielikki to the north – a Unicorn has been sacrificed and its blood spilt across the Shrine. The Goddess Mielikki herself calls upon you and bids you travel North and cut the Red Wizard down.
- Re-dedicating Mielikki's defiled shrine requires Wilderness Lore or Religious Lore feats. To perform the rededication, interact with the shrine, then click on the Unicorn Blood pools to remove them. Afterwards, find and collect the five Fey-Touched Plants in Gertrude's clearing and have a character with one of the required feats interact with the shrine again; this summons a Rampaging Shambling Mound, which must be defeated to complete the optional.
In the clearing ahead, Dhorvas the Red Wizard is in the act of committing a truly horrible act: raising a slain Unicorn as an undead minion. Granny Gertrude explains that her bargain with Mielikki prevents her from harming a denizen of the grove – something that technically still applies to the Unicorn. This doesn't, however, prevent her from subcontracting.
Once you return the Unicorn to its slumber, Dhorvas quickly realises the critical error in his plan: With the Unicorn destroyed, his magic is expended, and nothing is preventing the Hag from attacking him. He is promptly paralyzed and dragged off to a presumably painful death.
For perhaps a first in DDO, your bargain with a Hag is an unreserved success! Dhorvas's scheming is at an end, the grove of Mielikki is at peace, and you get some free loot into the bargain.
