You have arrived at Schloss Aubrecker under the pretext of attending the Baron's reception. Yet you're not actually here to mingle. Instead you plan to tell the Baron that the citizens of Lamordia are being killed to create servitor constructs. Perhaps you can enlist his help in stopping this horrifying practice.

Tips and Misc
- Baron von Aubrecker is a highly influential figure in the city of Ludendorf – even if nobody seems to have seen him in person for a strangely long time. You've come to Schloss Aubrecker, his estate, ostensibly to attend a reception party – but your real goal is to gain him as an ally against Doctor Mordenheim's scheme to fill out his fishing fleet with flesh golems crafted from slain citizens of Ludendorf.
- The extravagant spread laid out in the middle of a famine casts a stark light on the class divides splitting the domain of Lamordia – but even now, there's still no sign of the Baron, only his voice ringing out over a tannoy system. You're going to need to pull a favor from somebody who knows the Baron personally if you want to gain an audience with him.
- You might notice a couple of notable figures from Ludendorf City Hall among the guests – local folklorists the Finster brothers and mine owner Meinolf Draxsinger have both been invited to the Baron's party, and are happily mingling, but you can't help noticing another figure at the edge of the room, still dressed in her lab coat and looking very much out of place. The mysterious guest isn't interested in chatting, and quickly leaves to speak to the Baron.
- Handily, two guests in the estate's south wing have problems you might be able to help out with. Cora Schober has had some... compromising documents related to the Baron's business dealings confiscated by the estate's staff, and would like you to retrieve them from the nearby vault, either by convincing vault guard Dietrich Hersch to fetch them for you with a social skill check, or just picking the lock to the vault and unlocking the lockbox inside (mind the force trap.) Sascha Lewerentz's problem is a little more straightforward – he wants to examine the Baron's collection of magical items, but needs someone to clear out the Gremishka infestation first. (Helping out both guests nets you an optional for your troubles.)
- As you head into the North wing of the estate, the mysterious guest from earlier bursts out of the Baron's office, clearly in a bad mood. The Baron's office is now open to you, but you might like to take a minute to drop in on five guests in a nearby library, discussing gothic literature.
- The figures assembled here are sketches of five people ingrained in English literary history – notorious poet, satirist and general scoundrel Lord George Byron, his former lover Claire Clairemont, doctor John Polidori (currently engaged in keeping a diary on behalf of Lord Byron – without Byron's knowledge – that his publisher intends to sell later), another notorious poet by the name of Percy Bysshe Shelley, presently hiding out on Lake Geneva to avoid a breach-of-promise suit from his abandoned wife, and Mary Wollstonecraft Godwyn, Claire's stepsister and Percy's mistress – later to be better known to the world as Mary Shelley, author of Frankenstein. (A few of their dialogue lines hint at their future fates – George is about to run off and get killed helping the Greeks fight for independence from the Ottoman Empire, while John will eventually go on to write The Vampyre, the novel that inspired Dracula, whose titular figure bears a suspicious resemblance to a certain Lord Byron.)
- To your surprise, there is nobody in Baron von Aubrecker's private office – the Baron has decided to address you through another mechanical speaker. The Baron sounds concerned by your discovery, and asks the party to gather around the desk – only to plunge you through a trapdoor into Schloss Aubrecker's underground dungeons! The Baron is already well aware of what Doctor Mordenheim is up to – in fact, the Golem fishing fleet is largely his idea. von Aubrecker is determined a few unfortunate deaths now are necessary to prevent Ludendorf from totally collapsing, and he's more than willing to silence you to ensure the information goes no further.
- The dungeons of Schloss Aubrecker are guarded by apprentices of Doctor Mordenheim – and a handful of her experiments. One of those experiments, a huge Flesh Golem stitched together from an Ettin, awaits you to the west. Once this massive servitor is downed, you'll need to power up another network of electrical devices like the ones you found in Special Delivery (interact with the glowing device, then follow the direction each device points in to find the next one to use.)
- As you exit this room, you find a rather interesting note on a table – apparently, Doctor Mordenheim is somehow responsible for the blizzard enfolding Ludendorf. The note makes reference to "the bargain she made" – something you'll be investigating fairly soon, in The Wish.
- There's no point heading left at the next intersection just yet – the metal door at the end of the tunnel is sealed, and there seems to be no way to open it from here. Instead head right, where your path is blocked by a crackling electrical barrier. To bring this down, you'll need to explore both tunnels to the side. On the left side, some apprentices are working on a tile puzzle. A nearby note warns you not to activate all three runes at once, as this will short the power – which, of course, is exactly what you want to do. After this, pull the lever at the end of the other tunnel to bring the barrier down.
- With the power system crippled, it's only a matter of time until the barriers holding the servitors you passed earlier in confinement collapse, so you seize the opportunity to make your escape. It's now clear Doctor Mordenheim's influence has permeated the very highest levels of Lamordian society – and one of the most powerful men in Ludendorf now has a very good reason to want you dead. If you're going to continue your quest to bring the Doctor down, you can no longer trust the Ludendorf Police or the town's authorities – you'll have to pick your allies carefully.
- There are a total of five notes:
- One south of Cora Schober
- One on the west wall of the North Wing
- One just inside the dungeons
- One just after the Ettin Flesh Golem
- One by the tile puzzle
