Tips and Misc
- The Mists of Ravenloft have enclosed you once again, but rather than back in the twilight domain of Barovia, you find yourself in unfamiliar climes: the frozen city of Ludendorf, capital of the domain of Lamordia. Naturally you manage to stumble into trouble almost immediately, as you find yourself on the path of the Deadmongers, an organised gang of graverobbers.
- Gerda Hoffman, the first citizen of Ludendorf you can actually have a conversation with, asks you to find her cousin Arved's corpse - it's disappeared after he froze to death in the streets, and she wants to ensure he can have a proper burial before the Deadmongers get their hands on him.
- After fighting your way through a variety of unfriendly vermin in the green apartment, head into the red apartment and up the stairs (mind out for the orange-named guard dogs - they're guarding a room with a hidden chest, and will attack if you get too close.) The Deadmongers are here as well, trying to shake down the building's superintendent Old Schmidt - but he claims another graverobber gang beat the Deadmongers to the most recent batch of corpses.
- Heading East from this intersection leads to a rest shrine and an optional fight with several Poltergeists over a cookbook, as well as a brief encounter with one of the many terrors of Lamordia: a phantasmal Gallows Speaker. The ghost isn't particularly interested in you yet, but it picks off a Deadmonger patrol with terrifying efficiency.
- Head South down a metal staircase and through a sewer. You can save yourself a fair amount of fighting in this section by unlocking a door that leads straight to the next courtyard via a Rest Shrine.
- In the courtyard outside the apartments, the Deadmongers are having another conversation with Old Schmidt: they've worked out he's been ripping them off in order to sell the corpses himself, and they're not best pleased. As they begin loading the stashed bodies - and Schmidt's own - onto their wagon, you notice a woman behind them seemingly oblivious to the danger - only to discover she's in fact a Flesh Golem!
- The Deadmonger leader sets her subordinate on you and departs for somewhere called Dead Man's Crossing. You'll be paying her a visit there in due time, but for the minute you can at least spare the poor people of this part of Ludendorf the attentions of a particularly aggressive gang of body snatchers - and by the sound of it you've learnt a bit about their buyer, the mysterious Doctor Viktra Mordenheim.
- There are a total of six notes (although only five are needed for the optional):
- Two in the first courtyard (a newspaper and Arved's eviction notice)
- One in the green apartment building
- One in the room guarded by dogs
- One outside the Poltergeist-infested apartment
- One behind the first group of Deadmongers you fight
