Rework[edit]

Forums: Index > Help desk > Mythic

I'm going to rework this template tonight. I want to make it so that it can accept {{{range}}} or {{{list}}} to be able to specify 1-3 or 2 or 4 respectively. I'm under the impression that ALL items have a chance of dropping a mythic version now; is this correct? Can someone link me relevant dev posts on the topic from the forums, YouTube, Facebook, whatever? Thanks!  👟 ShoeMaker (Contribs • Message) 👟 10:46, December 6, 2017 (EST)

  • In theory, the template does not need a parameter. Item slot largely determines what kind of bonus it provides and what are the possible values. See Mythic Boost. One exception to the general rule is that Orbs, rune arms, and collars can appear Shield and/or Weapon boost. Another exception is that some ToEE gear may drop (or used to drop) with two mythic bonuses: weapon + shield.
What's possibly more important is that since Update_34#Items almost everything can become mythic. This kinda makes this template not useful.-- Cru121 (ContribsMessage) 14:15, December 6, 2017 (EST)
  • Okay, so based on that information... I've turned {{Mythic}} here into a meta template to be used with {{Named item}} which will now automatically add the mythic boost to all items (unless it is overridden on the item's page with {{{mythic|false}}}) based on what kind of item it is using the formula from the Mythic Boost page. Yes, there will be some pages where the effect is now listed twice. Simply remove the listing from the page itself. :) DDOstream (ContribsMessage) 09:03, December 12, 2017 (EST)

Additional work is needed.

  • Only items found in chest can be mythic. End rewards, crafted items usually cannot. Check if "|chest" is set; if not, don't add mythic. See also Talk:Epic_Weapons_and_Crafted_Weapons.
  • The automatic behavior is not correct. I would suggest that the switch in T:Named item takes into account item type/slot.
{{#switch:{{lc:{{{1}}}}}
  | armor|shield|weapon = {{Mythic|{{{1}}} }}
  | clothing|jewelry    = {{Mythic|{{{type}}} }}
  | rune arm | orb      = {{Mythic|armor}} or {{Mythic|weapon}}
  | default = {{{mythic|No [[Mythic Boost]]}}}}}}}
  • Unfortunately, there's a mismatch between how the mythic enchantment is called in game and slot name. For example, Gloves have Mythic Hand Boost. So I started to redesign T:Mythic under T:CruLore, but I cannot make it work. Feel free to mess around with it if you want.

TL;DR: 1) Check for |chest. 2) Redesign T:Mythic to accept type/slot (and second parameter would no longer be necessary). 3) Update the switch as above (or so). Cru121 (ContribsMessage) 07:33, December 14, 2017 (EST)

  • Will checking for {{#ifeq:{{{chest|}}}||<!--not chest-->| ... }} really work? I know there are pages out there where people have filled in |chest=Upgraded version of Item:xxx because they don't understand how the templates work (something I hope to fix before too much longer). I can add type/slot as it's just another #switch: and shouldn't be too hard. If I do that, then the existing parameter is no longer needed because that parameter is just a more refined version of what I'm using.  👟 ShoeMaker (Contribs • Message) 👟 08:44, December 18, 2017 (EST)
  • I guess |chest is not 100%, but it'll filter at least some quest end rewards and crafted items. -- Cru121 (ContribsMessage) 11:17, December 18, 2017 (EST)

Waist and neck slot[edit]

All waist items can have weapon mythic boost, not armor as currently. Neck items, other hand, can have armor boost, not weapon, as currently. Ulfo (ContribsMessage) 17:16, December 18, 2017 (EST)

  • Mythic is also showing up on Store items. See Glowing Circlet for just one example. -- Niminae (ContribsMessage) 17:26, December 18, 2017 (EST)
  • Oh, and then there's the fun bit where you can get a Legendary Tempest Spine drop which can have Mythic, but if you purchase the same item using the runes it will not be able to have Mythic. Just one example. -- Niminae (ContribsMessage) 17:32, December 21, 2017 (EST)
  • Hey, check it out! Item:Slave_Rags manages to have Mythic bonus listed twice "2 or +4" and "+2 or +4" -- Niminae (ContribsMessage) 10:38, December 22, 2017 (EST)
  • all item pages that used to have t: mythic explicitly specified need it removed. When you see such pages, you can remove it. --Cru121
    • That seems a lot like work... There's no way to automate the removal? -- Niminae (ContribsMessage) 15:07, December 22, 2017 (EST)
      • It's hard to do automatically because people added all kinds of various "possibly", "optionally", "occasionally", etc crap to the pages instead of just applying the template as is.  👟 ShoeMaker (Contribs • Message) 👟 15:49, December 22, 2017 (EST)
      I think I've gotten them all with AWB on Kobold sneak (Contribs • Message) using ([\r\n]*(\* *)?Additional optional enchantments?:)?[\r\n]*(\* *)?\{\{Mythic(.*?)?\}\}( or (\+[\d]*|more)?)?  👟 ShoeMaker (Contribs • Message) 👟 16:36, December 22, 2017 (EST)
      • See Item:Spooky Festival Mask. This item does not drop, is only handed out by SSG personnel, and quite probably can never have a Mythic bonus. And yet it is shown on the item page. I didn't see any "possibly", "optionally", "occasionally", etc crap to remove. -- Niminae (ContribsMessage) 11:33, December 28, 2017 (EST)
  • I have added |mythic=no to the item, and it seems correct now. Cru121 (ContribsMessage) 14:46, December 28, 2017 (EST)
  • Neck and wrist slot still have incorrect weapon bonuses instead armor, while waist still have incorrect armor bonuses instead weapon. Ulfo (ContribsMessage) 07:35, January 6, 2018 (EST)
    • This should be fixed. — Zav(T·C) 00:34, January 7, 2018 (EST)
      • This really fixed, but now I find some more issue, lol. Orbs can have Weapon AND Shield bonuses (include simultaneously), shields can have Shield AND Weapon bonuses (include simultaneously), some weapon, like Leverage also can have both Weapon and Shield bonuses (include simultaneously). Armor bonuses at rune arms must be Shield bonuses really. Ulfo (ContribsMessage) 18:56, January 7, 2018 (EST)
        • I've updated orbs, shields, and rune arms. For weapons, which can have both? — Zav(T·C) 22:57, January 7, 2018 (EST)
        • Personally I know about only Leverage/Epic Leverage with both bonuses. Need check forums for more example. Ulfo (ContribsMessage) 23:25, January 7, 2018 (EST)
