Too obtrusive?[edit]

for me this one look too flashy, would like to hear other guys' opinion. i like the idea of giving major game bug warning like this though. maybe we can do that on MediaWiki:Sitenotice like once we did on Haiti EQ donation [1]? oh yea, and we also need link to detailed info such as related forum links and stuff. --yoko5000 22:47, May 2, 2011 (EDT)

I wanted to make it stand out and make sure it was seen.. Greensteel crafting just takes too long acquire ingredients, especially tier 3... It was a template that is meant to be up for a short period of time and then removed when Turbine fixes their screw-ups.. If it was to take longer than a few days/week... Then I could see reducing it to a smaller less obtrusive font and such.. ShoeMaker 01:18, May 3, 2011 (EDT)
todays patch fixed the Red Fens but not Greensteel, i guess the bug is staying a bit longer so im moving the notice to the sitenotice now.

Holiday color scheme[edit]

I would like to propose a few color changes for the holiday announcements.

I also feel that the text size should be increased, though I don't see that anywhere in the template. Habreno (ContribsMessage) 11:05, January 3, 2016 (EST)

  • The problem I have is that the new colors proposed are not WCAG compliant for Valentine's Day, Easter, or Christmas and I think they should be at least somewhat compliant. Thanksgiving is not WCAG 2 AAA Compliant, but I would be okay with that (it becomes compliant if the size is greater than 18pt. Halloween is the only one that is fine. I'm not sure how compliant the existing colors are, but I think that any changes should be in the direction of compliance. ShoeMaker (ContribsMessage) 11:53, January 3, 2016 (EST)
    • I wasn't even aware of that entire aspect; was simply looking at visually-pleasing colors. I can play with things a bit. Glad you liked a couple color choices.
    • EDIT: New Years and St. Patrick's Day are both AAA compliant. Habreno (ContribsMessage) 12:06, January 3, 2016 (EST)
  • Revised colors. Moving away from Red/Green for Christmas, as a good color pair is nearly impossible to make look good, and to get away from issues with R/G color blindness. Habreno (ContribsMessage) 13:42, January 3, 2016 (EST)
    • Christmas is the worst combination as far as compliance goes; only AAA-compliant at 18+ point font. However, it's much better than the current colors Christmas [Colour Contrast Check Tool]. Let me know what you think of the revised colors; the following is the choices I would personally go with.

      • I'm fine with your proposed replacements for Valentine's, Easter, Halloween. Not sure about Thanksgiving and Christmas, they seem plain and boring to me. Let's leave this discussion open for a couple weeks and see if we get any more feedback. You might also like to post this on the DDO:AN/POI. ShoeMaker (ContribsMessage) 18:24, January 3, 2016 (EST)
        • It's been a few weeks, and I haven't seen any other feedback on this. I'm going to throw a couple other suggestions for Thanksgiving/Christmas here and see if these look better:
          • Thanksgiving [Colour Contrast Check Tool] - Reverse of the above suggestion. Note the similarity to the current colors (Current colors: Brown + Yellow); it's not as vibrant. I don't like this as much as the above suggestion.
          • Thanksgiving [Colour Contrast Check Tool] - Not sure what to think; instead of a yellow/brown (thinking turkey) going cranberry/gold for a bit more color and contrast.
            • Thanksgiving [Colour Contrast Check Tool] - Reverse. If you like this style of Thanksgiving better, I can play with the colors a bit. I like the former better than the reverse.
          • Christmas [Colour Contrast Check Tool] - Reverse of the above suggestion. This isn't "bad" but the difference between the light green and the white is much harder to see.
          • Christmas [Colour Contrast Check Tool] - Snow on Tree theme.
            • Christmas [Colour Contrast Check Tool] - Reverse. I don't like this reverse at all, but throwing it here for ease of comparison.

          • I'm not a fan of that last reverse one, but I'm fine with any of the others, preferring ones that are WCAG 2 AAA compliant. — Zav(T·C) 18:07, January 31, 2016 (EST)
            • With the exception of the Tree theme (Light Green/Dark Green), all should be WCAG 2 AAA compliant at all font sizes (Tree theme is WCAG 2 AA compliant at all font sizes and WCAG 2 AAA compliant at 18+ point font/14+ point bold font, which these notices likely exceed). My suggestions would be the dark background/light text pairings for both Thanksgiving (Brown/Yellow or Cranberry/Gold) and Christmas (Dark Green/Light Green or Darker Green/Pale Blue) Habreno (ContribsMessage) 15:31, February 1, 2016 (EST)
  • BUMP - Have we come to an agreement here on colors? I'd like to remove it as a C:PPoIs if so. Smile DDOstream (ContribsMessage) 08:59, January 17, 2017 (EST)
