Template:Infobox-ability/taxonomy/sandbox
{{Infobox-ability}}
currently (as of 2019-09-07) provides a complex array of automatic categorization options, based on overlapping taxonomies. These will hopefully be refined through collaborative discussion on the talk page.
Basic types[edit]
Every ability belongs to at least one of these basic types.
[Source types]
[Magic types]
An ability can be a simple type, e.g. Spells or Feats, or a composite of a magic type and a source type, e.g., Spell feats.
Source types[edit]
The source types are further broken down as follows.
- Feats
- Class feats (see definitions in Class feat)
- <class> class feats
- <class> bonus feats
- <class> exclusive feats
- Racial feats
- <race> racial feats
- Feats by source
- Class feats (see definitions in Class feat)
- Enhancements
- Class enhancements
- <class> enhancements
- Racial enhancements
- <race> enhancements
- Epic Destinies
- <epic destiny> abilities
- Class enhancements
Usage[edit]
Simple types are also broken down by usage.
- Passive
- Active (excluding Toggled)
- Toggled
Effects[edit]
{{Infobox-ability}}
introduces automatic categorization of pages by type of effect. The current (proposed) taxonomy is as follows.
- Attacks
- Buffs
- Combat buffs
- Defense buffs
- AC buffs
- Dodge buffs
- PRR/MRR buffs
- Resistance buffs (includes DR, spell resistance, elemental resistance)
- Saving throw buffs
- Health buffs
- Misc buffs
- Spellcasting buffs
- Summons
Each (simple type, effect type) pair gets its own category, e.g. Ki attacks, Melee combat feats, Healing spells, PRR/MRR enhancements. The potential category inventory thus numbers well into the hundreds, although hopefully only a fraction of them will actually be needed.
Misc[edit]
Several other categories extend these taxonomies further, e.g. Spells with a Somatic component, SLAs with unknown DC.
