I removed / change these optional entries:

optional_3 = Get access to the Gnolls' treasure stash
opt_percent_3    = 20
  • Optional: Head north and loot the treasure from the treasure room located behind any secret door. There are two "treasure piles" and a collectable, but the chest will require a successful skill check (Spellcraft, Disable Device, or Repair).

At the moment the chest behind the secret door is a standard locked chest and no optional is triggered

  • The Optional "Get access to the Gnolls' treasure stash" exists; it's just dependent upon what order you "explore" the quest. The chest behind the Secret Door with the portcullis, i.e. Locked gate (requiring a Skills check of either (Spellcraft, Disable Device, or Repair) can be seen in the following image:

I recommend visiting that room before completing: Convince the Outlanders to turn against the Cultists. If you want to get the Optional appearing for the 'Locked Gate' - it's NOT the Chest, as that isn't locked when the 'Locked Gate' is present.

PS: You should sign your posts on talk pages (normally using four tildes: ~~~~), it facilitates discussion by identifying the author of a particular comment.

  • Updated again; ran the quest 6 times (heroic and epic ;-) )

  • I've only ever played that quest a few times so I'm not that familiar with it, but knew there was a portcullis under some conditions for the Secret door chest from prior runs years ago... I never bothered to investigate what was the actual trigger. At least you can explore the majority of quest map without any combat slowing you down.
I can also remember two chests themselves: "Locked Gnoll Chest, near Shiny Rat bone" and "Hidden door, leading to the Gnolls' treasure stash (Chest itself)" can be either in: Locked or unlocked state depending upon your actions, etc.
