Village Priest Donavich[edit]

The Village of Bavoria Priest Donavich, is keeping his son trapped in the basement of the church. Killing him will earn you a chest, if you choose to spare him then the chest stay locked. However judging from the dialog options there may be a third option that could be unlocked. Ismark Kolyanovich - An Invitation to Dinner[edit]

  • What is the trigger to unlock this quest giver? Do you need to have read all Ireena's Journals, or Strahd's Journals or a minimum of quests done? SisAmethyst (ContribsMessage) 08:49, December 25, 2017 (EST)
  • You need to do the other quests in/around this tavern first. The chain bestower within the tavern will tell you what you need next. The usual order is also here: Mists_of_Ravenloft#Adventure_pack. -- Cru121 (ContribsMessage) 09:56, December 25, 2017 (EST)
    • Hahh, thanks, I probably should read more carefully what the NPCs are actually telling me. And I thought I can just run from quest to quest ;) SisAmethyst (ContribsMessage) 15:46, December 25, 2017 (EST)

Maps[edit]

I'm not much of a Wiki editor, but I took screenshots of the Barovia map and stitched them together. I uploaded three sizes, but I will defer to someone better at maps to add points of interest. I can also provide the original GIMP file (28MB) or a cleaner PNG of the full-size map (13MB). BaroviaMap.jpg, BaroviaMap-1080.jpg, BaroviaMap-500.jpg Acrisius (ContribsMessage) 03:19, December 9, 2017 (EST)

  • Thanks for the map! I've created the map pages and added the map to the article. — Zav(T·C) 01:00, December 10, 2017 (EST)
    • While the locations of the Journals may be somewhat random, it seems that at least the possible spots where they can show up are limited. I will try if I can make an overlay map including those spots, but that will surely take a while, so if someone is first go ahead. SisAmethyst (ContribsMessage) 07:57, December 23, 2017 (EST)

Ireena's Journals[edit]

Irena's Journals

In case anyone is having trouble finding Irena's Journals, I've managed to map all 15. They aren't numbered on this image, but they are in order 1-15 following the road from the east entrance and winding around up to the castle. Eabrace (ContribsMessage) 12:16, December 13, 2017 (EST)

  • Probably worth noting that this is the Epic level map. Eabrace (ContribsMessage) 12:25, December 13, 2017 (EST)
    • Also worth noting that each journal can randomly appear in three locations... LrdSlvrhnd (ContribsMessage) 20:57, December 13, 2017 (EST)
      • Well, poo. That certainly complicates matters, doesn't it? Eabrace (ContribsMessage) 21:24, December 13, 2017 (EST)
      • Is that actually randomly in three locations or are there three variations of the map with different locations for each? That is a question that should take some time to figure out. :) DDOstream (ContribsMessage) 08:23, December 19, 2017 (EST)
      • Which is why I addded the /loc location as hidden comment when I found an entry to maybe decipher it from there. As a side not, while it's nice to have the text of the quest journal entry written out like Fin Ireena's first journal entry, I personally find it very difficult to read when you want to find a specific one that you may still miss and prefer something with a number like 1st - . What are the thoughts about it? SisAmethyst (ContribsMessage) 07:54, December 23, 2017 (EST)
        • IMHO, it should appear on the wiki as it appears in-game (so written out - first, second, third etc.). And if there's a discrepancy between what it says on the journals themselves vs. what it says in the Quest Journal, we should go with the latter. LrdSlvrhnd (ContribsMessage) 15:51, December 25, 2017 (EST)
          • Indeed, and after I added a paragraph for the text it looks already a bit better. My main concern is just readability as accurate information may help nothing if it is not readable. SisAmethyst (ContribsMessage) 16:57, January 1, 2018 (EST)
Irena's Journal (Epic) Quest Entry
  • Regarding the XP for the journals (epic), I'd originally recorded it as 850 for each with 3187 bonus for discovering all entries. I see that it's been changed since then to 2550/9561. I just checked in-game and had a guild member verify they see the same thing I do. My Quest journal still says it's 850/3187. Is that not the correct source for the numbers? Eabrace (ContribsMessage) 20:51, December 30, 2017 (EST) 12:16, December 13, 2017 (EST)
Irena's Journals (below lvl 30?)
    • That is actually the same place I do check the XP, however it seems there is either a bug or something else going on as you can see on my screenshot: Maybe it is related to the fact that my character hasn't yet reached level 30? I guess I will have to do some manual testing and see how many XP I actually get for real. SisAmethyst (ContribsMessage) 16:36, January 1, 2018 (EST)
Chat log for Irena's 2nd Journals (below lvl 30?)
      • So I checked and I got actually 3,847 XP for a single journal, <ith 334 for being a VIP and 167 for an XP boost. Indeed on a level 30 character I get the same report of 850/3,187 XP but here again in the chat log I recieved for a single journal 4,014XP with 334 for VIP and 334 for an XP boost. So judging from the magnintude of XP I got the 2550 sounds more right? SisAmethyst (ContribsMessage) 16:54, January 1, 2018 (EST)
        • I just finished running my lvl 22 Bard through to grab all of Irena's journals. When I entered Barovia and checked in her Quest Journal, I saw the same XP values as you had in your screenshot (2550/9561). That seems to correspond with the actual amount of XP she was earning from each journal and the bonus she earned from the full set. On a hunch, I checked after the quest was complete, and still saw the same base XP values listed. I then logged out and logged back in. After logging back in, I checked the Quest Journal again and now she's showing the lower XP values (850/3187). So it looks like the listed XP values drop to 1/3 of their original value after you've completed the quest - which is odd, because it doesn't matter after you've done it once. It's not like you can keep earning XP for finding the journals again. Eabrace (ContribsMessage) 02:17, January 6, 2018 (EST)
          • To add to the entertainment, I just noticed that the XP values for Strahd's and Tatyana's journals were also displaying the lower values in the Quest Journal after I logged my Bard back in. Since I hadn't collected any of the journals in either set, I jumped out to Old Bonegrinder, and grabbed Strahd's first journal. The XP I received for doing so was equal the XP I was earning for each of Ireena's journals earlier. I do believe we've stumbled into a bug in the amount of XP displayed for the journals. Strahd's Journals[edit]

Strahd's Journals

Well, this is at least one possible set of locations for Strahd's journals. Starting at the gate near Old Bonegrinder and heading NW, 1-6 were roughly in order (4 north of Vallaki, 5 next to the main road, 6 next to the bridge.) From the intersection, 7 and 8 were along the road heading south toward the swamp. Journal 9 was next to Argynvosthold castle and 10 was on the road that leads up to it from the west. Journal 11 was just outside of van Richten's Tower. Heading north from the bridge near journal 6, 12 and 13 were along the road, 14 was on the island out in the the lake, and 15 was back on the road again. Eabrace (ContribsMessage) 00:59, December 14, 2017 (EST)

  • As noted above, each journal can be found in multiple places. However, these always seem to be in relatively close proximity to each other. For example, I found 14 on the lakeshore across from the island and several others on the opposite side of the road from that stated above. Thus, if you spiral out from the stated locations you can usually find each one fairly quickly. --12.42.51.27 (Message • Block • Check) 07:51, December 18, 2017 (EST)

Tatyana's Journals[edit]

I almost have all of Tatyana's Journals (Epic), but number 15 is proving to be wily. Anyone know where that one's located? It seems like it wants to be behind the makeshift wall sealing off the shrine, but that's not accessible - at least, not that I'm aware of. Eabrace (ContribsMessage) 17:25, December 21, 2017 (EST)

  • Tatyana's Journals
Aha! Found that bugger. Journal 15 is all the way out to the east, near the waterfall. Journal 1 was behind von Richten's tower. Journals 2-5 were along the road leading south to The Amber Temple. Journal 6 was along the south bank of the river, heading west toward the Vistani camp, and 7 was just outside the camp itself. Journal 8 was along the road heading south to Yester Hill. Journals 9-12 were along the road heading from the river up to the Village of Krezk. And journals 13 and 14 were near the road on the west side of Krezk. Eabrace (ContribsMessage) 21:16, December 21, 2017 (EST)
      1. 1 can also be behind the crates just to the right of the entrance to the tower. --70.192.83.159 (Message • Block • Check) 13:21, December 24, 2017 (EST)

Map Updates[edit]

Rare Encounter: Adrim Terrastar, Vampire Spawn - I just found Adrim next to the northest spot of Ireena's Journal 15. — previous unsignedIcon tooltip.pngPlease sign posts using ~~~~ comment by Kelandrion ( c |d| r| b) at 22:58, June 29, 2019 (UTC)

Rare Encounter: Vyizm Krulqyr, Vargouille - Found him between Strads 5th and 6th Journal. On the other side of the road next to the vistani camp — previous unsignedIcon tooltip.pngPlease sign posts using ~~~~ comment by Kelandrion ( c |d| r| b) at 23:20, June 29, 2019 (UTC)

Rare Encounter: Vyizm Krulqyr, Vargouille - Found him right west of the first bridge after the Village of Barovia, in the wedge between the south shore and the road.

Rare Encounter: Vyizm Krulqyr, Vargouille - Found him east of old bone grinder just north of the easternmost location for Strahd's first journal. Approximately at the location of the potential spider next marker.

Rare Encounter: Ravenbane, Scarecrow - Found him south of the Village of Barovia, south of the river (both places marked as Oleg Lipsiege in the map), in the wilderness southwest the Village of Barovia and northeast of the first bridge and west of Castle Ravenloft, south of the gargoyle path.

The lone deer[edit]

So far I have found only a single deer - the only animal in the whole expansion apart from Ravens and Cats - in the whole wilderness. Of course I didn't kill it, as a story player. ;) Does this cound as a "rare encounter" as well ? It didn't give me any message , nothing, but so far it is still the *only* other animal found by me in the while wilderness ... I have a screenshot of it. It can be found along the road underneath the hill of "Oath Of Vengeance". Alrik (ContribsMessage) 08:42, August 29, 2020 (EDT)
