Talk:Spell point

From DDO wiki

chart depends on a style set up in the Dndwiki that is not here yet

Do you have the information about how the casting ability (INT, WIS or CHA) affects the number of spell points? -- Tihocan 18:05, January 10, 2006 (PST)

They don't affect the number of spell points you have- they effect the effectiveness of your spells (DC I would assume) -- ArgleBargle 20:17, January 10, 2006 (PST)

I recall that each + you get an extra 10 spell points I believe. I am not certain on that but my cleric had 130 spell points and had a wis bonus of +3. -- koolkat 21:17, January 10, 2006 (PST)
I tested it with a wizard- will try a cleric at some point soon, but I am pretty sure that the bonus you got was from enhancements not wisdom -- ArgleBargle 00:08, January 11, 2006 (PST)
Ok I found the info on the ddo forums. You get modifier * (9 + caster level) bonus spell points. -- Tihocan 06:46, January 11, 2006 (PST)
That doesn't explain to me why that didn't seem to be the case when I tried it experimentally. By your argument, a wizard should have a different amount of spell points with an 18 int vs a 12 int, but this just isnt the case -- ArgleBargle 09:13, January 11, 2006 (PST)
Well, if that's the case, then yes, it's weird, and I have no explanation for that. Maybe a bug? Or a mistake in what I read on the forums? I don't know. -- Tihocan 09:20, January 11, 2006 (PST)
Anyway, I added this in the article, if it turns out to be wrong we'll fix it :) -- Tihocan 11:50, January 11, 2006 (PST)
Hehe, I dispute! But I will create clerics bards sorcerors and wizards to verify- despite my disputation, I really appreciate you chiming in and helping on this one =) -- ArgleBargle 15:02, January 11, 2006 (PST)
You're welcome, I also appreciate not being alone on the ddo wiki ;) By the way someone replied to your post on the ddo forums, apparently it's a bug that should be fixed in next update. -- Tihocan 17:28, January 11, 2006 (PST)

Outdated base spellpoints?[edit]

I've seen many posts like URL one recently which makes me think our base spellpoints are outdated. Uky 08:19, January 17, 2006 (PST)

Yup, noticed that too... But we would need the whole new list -- Tihocan 10:37, January 17, 2006 (PST)

Table's "Base" is not actual game "Base"[edit]

The problem here is that the "Magical Training" bonus to spell points is being added into the "base" spell points for the table, when in fact it is seperate. The Magical Training feat adds 80 additional spell points (in the form of a FEAT Bonus) to a character's spell points. Clerics, Wizards, and Sorcerers all recieve the Magical Training feat; however Bards and Paladins do not (unsure of Rangers).

Level 1 class BASE spell points (confirmed yesterday):

  • L1 Cleric: 20,
  • L1 Wizard: 20,
  • L1 Bard: 50,
  • L1 Sorcerer: 70

Other characters I know the BASE spell points:

  • L2 Bard: 80,
  • L4 Paladin/L1 Rogue: 0,
  • L5 Cleric: 120
Awesome, that's exactly the missing bit of information I have been looking for. Can you just tell me exactly how you found out this 80 SP number, and how you can be sure the amount of SP given by the magical training feat does not depend on the class that gets it? (other than it would not really make sense). I will then update the corresponding table. Thanks again! Tihocan 13:10, April 27, 2006 (EDT)

Favored Souls[edit]

What about spell points for Favored Souls? I'm guessing they parallel the stats for Sorcerors... 96.8.228.238 16:49, January 16, 2010 (EST)

SP table is messed up.[edit]

Not sure when it happened, but it seems the L19 and L20 entries for Favored Soul have been incorrectly removed and thus moved all other entries to the left. Now they do not line up. I'm not sure what the current FvS L19/L20 entries should be so can't correct it.

SP table needs updates for pal/rng (they get enough sp to cat a spell or two at 4 now, and artificers[edit]
