While toiling over a TR build, I was considering trapping skills, and whether or not I needed to max them out. I started thinking about some of the skill buff "constants" like Greater Heroism, and then wondered about what other methods are there for buffing skills? Action point boost, etc.

Would this be worthy of a section, or a separate page off of the skills page? --Cauthey 12:45, December 22, 2011 (EST)

I came here looking for the same thing. My guild is running EE and I am trying to find & disable all the traps. The closest thing I found was the UMD page that shows Sources for increasing UMD skill:

Skills vs Skill points[edit]

Skill points are discussed in detail in both Skill points and Skills. I'd like the detail to be in only one place.

My preference is to put the detailed discussion of Skill Points under Skill points, and under Skills just say "Characters gain skill points every level (x4 at 1st level), based on their class and intelligence modifier. See Skill points for how this is calculated.".

But I'd be OK with putting all the skill point details under Skills, and making Skill points redirect here. I prefer a separate page as it means one can go into the fine details of skill points without having a massive preamble to the discussion of skills, most of which is not relevant to their in-game use.

Further thought: move all the information about buying skills under Skill points also. Skills focuses on "What are the skills, and how do I use them?" while Skill points focuses on everything to do with "How do I buy skill ranks?". To put it another way, Skills covers everything to do with using skills while adventuring, while Skill points deals with skill ranks and the leveling process.

I'm happy to make the changes - just wanted to get an OK before I start making major edits.

  • I am in favor of moving the content of Skill point to a new section in Skills, and turn Skill point into a redirect to that section (not the title). A good TOC can solve the problem of a big preamble. MrLizard (ContribsMessage) 22:11, September 9, 2020 (EDT)
  • Sorry for these many edits. I have changed my mind and did not want to erase my previous comment. I had the following idea: I am in favor of keeping (maybe small) separate pages, but considering adding a navigation TOC similar to the one here: Hireling. • Sounds like you need to tag both pages with an appropriate {{Merge}} template and explain why they need to be merged on the destination page and let people !vote.  👟 ShoeMaker (Contribs • Message) 👟 23:37, September 9, 2020 (EDT)

Edit on racial modifiers[edit]

In my opinion, your last edit in the Skills page changed the meaning of the sentences about racial intelligence bonuses. From what I understood from the previous text, those bonuses to intelligence affect only the inteligence modifier, NOT affecting the number of skill points available to spend. Maybe the new meaning is supposed to be the correct one. The previous text was very confusing. MrLizard (ContribsMessage) 22:00, September 9, 2020 (EDT)
