Talk:Sentient Weapon/Non-food

From DDO wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

I think it would be very helpful to have a way to tag things that look like named items with a food/non-food flag. That way you could search for "glorious dawn" and find out that it is food from the description, or Hero's leathers and find out that it is not. The list on this page is helpful but I think having it in the description of the item would be more so. — previous unsignedIcon tooltip.pngPlease sign posts using ~~~~ comment by ‎Bioguy.pingry ( c |d| r| b) at 21:27, September 18, 2019 (UTC)

  • You are right. We have already created the template {{Non-food}}. I have added it as the very first line to Hero's Leathers (Level 16). Please go ahead and help us adding the line to any non-food you encounter. Thanks! -- Cru121 (ContribsMessage) 01:45, April 8, 2018 (EDT)

I prefer the look of the old page. But if this one is going to stand, there are some issues that should be addressed or at least considered. Many items which the old page listed are missing from this new page. For example I don't see any quivers on the list, and the old page noted that quivers cannot be food. All of the Wheloon end rewards are also missing from the new list. I fully understand that "all" that needs to be done is for all of the missing items to be edited, but that's quite a lot of things to leave broken/excluded in the interim. Consider perhaps fixing all the missing items and only then implementing this new page look... Some pages apply "This item cannot be fed to sentient jewels." to the Tips value, and some make it a banner at the top of the page. I prefer the use of the Tips value over a banner. -- Niminae (ContribsMessage) 07:16, May 24, 2018 (EDT)

Anything else that "was" on the list and isn't anymore?  👟 ShoeMaker (Contribs • Message) 👟 09:29, May 24, 2018 (EDT)
    • The history appears to have been left intact. So why ask me? I just gave a couple examples that jumped out at me upon seeing the new format. -- Niminae (ContribsMessage) 17:53, May 24, 2018 (EDT)

Items only?[edit]

{{Non-food}} just appears as text when added to the Shard of Power page. Shard of Power is a named Trinket and therefor should be able to be fed to a sentient weapon. But Shard of Power was created using the Ingredient template, which is probably the better choice if this is an either/or situation since I'm going to guess that far more people use Shard of Power to craft heroic green steel than wear them as a ML13 trinket. I've left the Shard of Power page showing the text for illustration purposes.

Also, quiver pages seem to be missing any reference to being non-food, and yet they show the non-food text on the item page in their notes. How is this happening?

I don't understand what you're saying with Shard of Power. I don't see a Non-food template applied on the page...
As for quivers, the {{Non-food}} template is applied in the {{Quiver}} template with no restrictions. Are quivers able to be fed to sentient weapons? If yes, then one could remove that from the quiver template. Faltout (ContribsMessage) 06:41, May 29, 2018 (EDT)
As for quivers, since it's all quivers like you mention in the above section that can't be fed as food, I added it once to the template for them and it's transcluded on to all the quiver pages.

  • Huh. Dunno where I got the second T1. The history seems to show that I only used the one T1. And while I don't recall where I got the text I can be fairly certain that it was a cut'n'paste. -- Niminae (ContribsMessage) 13:55, May 30, 2018 (EDT)
    • When using the template, you shouldn't be using any Tl -- so copy and paste from edit box is bad - copy and paste from what is visible on the page with no Tl is correct per this diff: diff 386694  👟 ShoeMaker (Contribs • Message) 👟 14:17, May 30, 2018 (EDT)
