Common feats[edit]

NB: the evasion class feat is common with the rogue (=> need to synchronize updates) -- Tihocan 06:15, January 15, 2006 (PST)

The Evasion description has been moved to a template, so synchronizing is automatic. Dedridd 13:00, February 2, 2006 (PST)
Oh that is so awesome. I need to learn to love those templates :] Tihocan 09:48, March 30, 2006 (EST)

important ranger stats[edit]

Would be nice to see the most important ranger stats (and other classes)listed. Such as Dex, Wis, Int. ect.

A guide for rangers can be found here Starting a Ranger. Don't know though why this page isn't linked from the ranger main page. Btw. please quote your posts ;-).--Ziu 04:45, March 30, 2006 (EST)

Combat Styles[edit]

Perhaps instead of listing the feats seperately, list them as combat styles and improved combat styles and explain this further. The feats are granted freely, but they don't require the pre-requisites like Fighter bonus feats would.

I'm afraid I don't really understand what you mean. The advancement table currently lists all feats obtained automatically by a ranger when leveling. Is not that clear enough? Tihocan 09:47, March 30, 2006 (EST)
I don't feel that it does truly. These combat styles aren't just bonus feats. I'd probably put something like the following:
Level 2
Combat Styles : The Ranger is granted the Two-Weapon Fighting and Rapid Shot feats. Meeting the normal pre-requisites is not required for use of these feats. The Ranger has use of these feats even in Medium or Heavy armor (a big deviation from PnP).
Ok so basically what is missing is the fact that the pre-requisites are not required, right? The fact that the ranger gets these feats is shown in the table, and the Class feats section introduction clearly states that. The goal of the Class feats section is not to give the overview of advancement (this is the role of the advancement table), just to describe the specific ranger feats (the ability of casting spells should not even be here, actually, I left it as I thought it could be somewhat considered as a class feature too). About the fact that the ranger can use TWF and Rapid shot in medium and heavy armor, is this a ranger-specific thing, or is it shared by other classes? Or is it a limitation that applies in PnP only to rangers? Tihocan 12:52, March 30, 2006 (EST)
It's a limitation that applies to the Ranger's Combat Styles in PnP, but it is a very important deviation from the rules. If you glance through the Ranger forums there's a billion threads asking about the combat styles, if the abilities are lost when wearing heavier armors and a lot of confusion in general about them. Anyways, the Combat Styles are a class feature that grant the bonus feats for free with no need for prerequisites. They're not listed as their individual feats in the PnP sourcebooks nor on the DDO website. Just my thoughts. -Ael
Ok, just gave a quick look to the SRD, I see what you mean. Looks like DDO got rid of the combat styles, so I think we should not explicitely name it that way (though we may mention it for PnP players, and on the PnP differences page if it's not there already). Best thing would be to mention this below the advancement table, as well as on the pages of the concerned feats. Will do that tomorrow, unless I forget. Tihocan 17:54, March 30, 2006 (EST)
Done, thanks for your help! :) Tihocan 10:35, March 31, 2006 (EST)
Note that the Ranger entry on the ddo.com compendium lists Combat Style and Improved Combat Style as given to the ranger at levels 2 and 6 respectively, but it never mentions what they mean. However, Turbine DOES use those phrases in their documentation. Also, is the level 5 BAB entry for rangers correct? It's different from all the other classes that have BAB=1 at level 1. 24.62
Yes, noticed that recently too (the combat styles in the compendium). You're right, I had made a typo in the L5 BAB, will fix it right now (note: this has not been verified, it's an extrapolation from the Fighter's BAB advancement). Tihocan 15:08, April 13, 2006 (EDT)

Evasion[edit]

In DDO and for all classes, Evasion works in any type of armor.

Thanks, I really wish they could update their official online KB. By the way, when posting in discussions, you can use ~~~~ to sign your posts. Also, in order to decide on how this information is going to be formatted, can you tell me if you verified this ingame yourself? Tihocan 18:39, April 3, 2006 (EDT)
Yes, I have verified this in game. Sorry for the delayed response. Aelasyl 22:02, April 17, 2006 (EDT)
Thank you! :) Tihocan 10:54, April 19, 2006 (EDT)

Evasion does not work in medium or heavy armor. (update8) -- 12:48, 2010 December 23 Wannabee

Improved Wild Empathy[edit]

In DDO, IWE has a fixed duration of five minutes. It is usable 3/day and is not linked to Wild Empathy. 60 second cool down. And there is a save. Aelasyl 19:00, April 3, 2006 (EDT)

Thanks for the additional info. Do not hesitate to directly edit the wiki (though if you don't want, posting here is always appreciated :) Tihocan 11:11, April 4, 2006 (EDT)
Is there anyway to get additional uses? Wild Empathy doesn't seem to apply.RainCloud 11:11, September 4, 2016 (EDT)

Wilderness Lore[edit]

Looks like rangers get this feat every level. Should that be reflected differently in the table and/or under the Class Feat heading? - Kage (ContributionsMessage) 15:04, January 8, 2014 (EST)

I lean towards adding the once per level feats under a heading like 'Other' (with an icon and with a note that it is once per level), beneath the existing headings of 'Class Skills' and 'Weapon and Armor Proficiencies'. It becomes more visible, without a lot of repetition. - Kage (ContributionsMessage) 15:39, January 8, 2014 (EST)
I'm only seeing it for levels 1, 7, and 14 in our table and below. Is this no longer accurate? ShoeMaker (Contributions Message) 15:45, January 8, 2014 (EST)
My understanding is that Arcane Lore (other classes) and Wilderness Lore is given every level to most classes. If you look at, f.ex. Wilderness Lore, there is a comment suggesting that this is so. - Kage (ContributionsMessage) 15:51, January 8, 2014 (EST)
  • I've updated the page to reflect that it is an every level feat, I'll build (a|some) template(s?) later for the advancement table and per level breakdown, just no time right now... Thinking of using LabeledSectionTransclusion to do it (edit in one place to update all of them)... It will likely be a fairly complicated set of templates, that should never need much editing and result in an extremely easy to populate page with all of the information... I'll work on that in a few weeks (if all goes as planned and I'm still in college)... ShoeMaker (Contributions Message) 16:02, January 8, 2014 (EST)
  • When I clean up and redid the class pages (and a few of the Advancement table) I didn't see the point of adding the same feat every level for 20 levels kind of redundant, adds clutter and distracts from the meaningful levels. They received the feat at level 1 and every ranger level there was even a note stating it was granted every ranger level (the same note that is now repeated 20 times) keeps the rest of the page clean. Once is more then enough. We dont put they get 8 hp each level and have it listed 20 times or minimum 1 skill point each lv 20 times. Bladedge (ContributionsMessage) 01:34, January 9, 2014 (EST)

Assistance needed[edit]

I need some tech help. I multiclassed a rogue character for the tempest enhancements, but when I tried to use it, the tempest tree wasn't there! It was just arcane archer and deepwood sniper. Does anyone know why this is happening, and how to fix it? Rachycat (ContribsMessage) 19:10, April 13, 2016 (EDT)Rachycat, 4-13-16

  • The problem you're having is actually that you have too many enhancement trees loaded. This is easily fixable. Just click the name of one of the trees that you don't have points in (You can't swap out racial trees though), and it should turn into a drop-down menu with a list of every tree you can swap in. Just swap out one of the trees you don't plan to use for tempest, and you're good to go. --Byeshklord (ContribsMessage) 20:00, April 13, 2016 (EDT)
