Need to be careful about the distinction between quests (such as The Cult of the Six) and missions (such as The Temple Outpost: The Libram of the Six). This table presently has a mix of the two with no distinction. darB 18:26, February 7, 2006 (PST)

What's the difference between the two? (post by Peerless - see his talk and contribs.) 19:33, February 7, 2006 (PST)

So, quests. Bit of a mess. Not sure who is watching this but i'm wondering if a clean-up is in order? «robin» talk 12:52, June 20, 2006 (EDT)

Mod4 Quests[edit]

I added Prison of the Planes, at least a partial stub. It's not showing up on any list, because it's level 14, the patron is Argonessen and the area is Gianthold. How do we add those. Johnbr 11:25, May 1, 2007 (EDT)

See my talk page, where I replied. Mr. Cable 15:54, May 1, 2007 (EDT)

Quest Cleanup[edit]

Ok, i'm proposing we clean up the quests.

  • A quest might be contained in one part, or may have multiple parts. The current list seems to separate the parts out but i'm not a fan of that. I think it means lots of clicks for the viewer and i don't see think much can be gained from splitting. I found that if you add a part name with == either side of the name then you link directly to that part of the page, e.g. Cult of the Six#The Inner Sanctum: Church of the Fury.
Yeah, you are right about that - and for the linking, it's a simple page title anchor, it'll work with anything from = to ========. Remember, though, CLICK THE TOC LINK to find out exactly what the breakdown of the anchor title is - just typing the header doesn't work sometimes, cause the titles use weird characters and spaces and stuff. Elliott Cable - ?+¿ - ‹·› 12:41, June 21, 2006 (EDT)
I agree that regrouping all parts of a quests into a single quest is less confusing. On another hand, we may thus not have a single name for the quest, right? Tihocan 12:13, June 28, 2006 (EDT)
Well, that depends on your definition of "quest". As it's done now, a Quest is a dungeon (perhaps multiple dungeons) which results in a reward from the quest-giver. So even though you have 4 parts (individually named) in Greymoon Waning, you don't get a reward till you've done all 4, so that's 1 "Quest". That's how I see it anyway. Sonil 12:41, June 28, 2006 (EDT)
True. There are some complications sometimes though, for instance I believe that you now get some reward before the whole end of the Catacombs, though you have not completed the whole quest chain. However you might also have some quest marked as completed at this time, I'm not sure about this. Anyway I don't believe this really matters... Tihocan 12:25, July 11, 2006 (EDT)
  • The parts may take place in the same physical dungeon or in different dungeons. Some of the quests are split out by dungeon name rather than quest name or part name. For example, the quest Redfang the Unruled takes place in the dungeon Redfang's Nesting Grounds. I'd prefer to keep the quests listed by quest name rather than dungeon name to mirror the game. The dungeon breakdown might be handy if we had maps of everything in the game but we don't. I think it would be good to link monsters to quest parts rather than dungeons too.
It'd be really awesome if we could get maps. I hadn't even thought about that - what sort of maps are there ingame? I could write a little script (and accompanying template) to generate a map to a given point in a dungeon where a monster is with some basic co-ords... and I think we should really have at least SOME sort of orginzation by area. It'd be cool if we had area-found-in info for all the major things - items (for the dungeons where you DO the quest, and seperately for the are where you GET the quest), for mobs, and for quests themselves - that way somebody in a given area could look in the wiki category for that area and boom have everything they could possibly want to do there... so they don't forget anything lol. Elliott Cable - ?+¿ - ‹·› 12:41, June 21, 2006 (EDT)
Aye, maps would be cool, but it's a long task. And, as far as I'm concerned, I'm not too fond of this kind of spoilers. Tihocan 12:13, June 28, 2006 (EDT)
  • The list of quests is really hard to follow! I think we can break it down by area. My personal working example is in my sandbox (User:Robin/Scratch)
Up to you, my whiskered friend. Elliott Cable - ?+¿ - ‹·› 12:41, June 21, 2006 (EDT)

I've edited two quests to test something out: Grey Moon Waning and Cult of the Six. These were already in the wiki and the parts are still in the wiki as separate entries (or missions).

Ok i've completely changed the quests page! I think this is in a much friendly format and includes all the quests in the game as of now. Lots of quests needs content though. «robin» talk 08:31, June 27, 2006 (EDT)

looks good...should we get rid of the category listing at the bottom, though? I guess an alphabetical listing is good too, need to add the rest of the quest to the quest category though I guess. Sonil 10:47, June 27, 2006 (EDT)
Yeah the quest list at the bottom is a bit messy. I can removed that no problemo. «robin» talk 11:17, June 27, 2006 (EDT)
Move the whole thing to Quests instead of redirecting it to Quests. Elliott Cable - ?+¿ - ‹·› 12:42, June 27, 2006 (EDT)
Done. I think we should put back the quest category tag on the quests so that if someone wants to check the alphabetical listing, they can do that too. Sonil 13:34, June 27, 2006 (EDT)
Agreed, something to do some day ;) Tihocan 12:17, July 11, 2006 (EDT)
Good work again! :] Tihocan 12:09, July 11, 2006 (EDT)

Re-organizing... again[edit]

Here we go! This is working out well, Mcglonec doing most of the work as usual (-; - perhaps quest groups level 1-9 need to be moved to 01-09 so they appear in the right order? I dunno. [e] · t & c 16:55, October 2, 2006 (EDT)

Can we just have this page "Quests" redirect to Quests? It seems awkward to have all of the quests listed here and repeated by category. The page is so long it's difficult to use. Mcglonec 17:03, October 2, 2006 (EDT)
For now, I've changed this page into a redirect to the category for quests. Hopefully, that'll help keep things cleaner and a little easier to navigate. Mcglonec 13:18, October 5, 2006 (EDT)
Hehe, I agree, here it is easier to read with a first breakdown into the 4 basic sub-categories. Tihocan 14:52, October 13, 2006 (EDT)

What is in a name?[edit]

I would argue that a link to "quests" ought to redirect to Quest, as is typical for other pages. The table could perhaps be moved to a subpage that is transcluded into both Quest and Category:Quests. Hoopy Froodle (ContribsMessage) 21:18, October 4, 2016 (EDT)

Consolidate quest tables[edit]

There are currently a whole slew of largely redundant quest tables, which can make it hard to find the information you want. How about we combine most of them into one table? I'd suggest sortable columns:

  1. Name [with link to page]
  2. Type [Solo | Standard | Raid]
  3. Level
  4. Duration
  5. Solo/Normal XP [other difficulties are mostly redundant]
  6. Base favor
  7. Patron
  8. Adventure pack [including F2P]

This one table could replace without significant loss of utility:

  1. Quests by duration
  2. Quests by level
  3. Quests by name
  4. Quests by patron
  5. Quests by update
  6. Free to Play quests
  7. Pay to Play quests
  8. Quests by Adventure Pack
  9. Adventure packs

Location and/or Update columns could be added if there's enough interest, but I don't see what purpose they serve, other than general edification. That leaves only:

  1. List of quests by story arc [redundant with story arc pages?]
  2. Challenge quests
  3. Epic quests
  4. Raids
  5. Wilderness adventure area
  6. Saga

These pages contain additional information, and thus should probably not be merged. Thoughts? Hoopy Froodle (ContribsMessage) 18:03, May 5, 2017 (EDT)

Quest Entry Dialog Box Icon[edit]

I want to put Ruins of Gianthold Quest Entry Dialog Box Icon.jpg [[File:Ruins of Gianthold Quest Entry Dialog Box Icon.jpg]] on the tops of quest pages, but don't want to gum-up any template or flow that is the result of others' hard work. Upper right corner, same size as the square icons on the left. Good idea or drop it? meander (ContribsMessage) 12:05, July 13, 2018 (EDT)
