How do you use cure spells or the paladin's lay on hands ability against undead? I've tried to use them when targetting the undead but it only ever just heals me. → Rossbert 18:00, April 3, 2012 (EDT)

You need to actually perma-target them by clicking them with your mouse. I call it perma clicking because no matter what you do that enemy stays targeted until you click and target something else. Once they are "perma-targeted", you are free to use any scrolls, wands, spells, abilities (like LOH) you want until you either kill it or target something else. Hope this helps. I thought I already tried that, but I'll try again. Rossbert 18:35, April 3, 2012 (EDT)
Yeah, the problem is that if you are just soft targeting them, you run the risk of your targeting failing. Also something for you to consider is the range of the spell. If using a healing spell offensively, the same range rules apply if you were using it on a party member. Keesh 18:39, April 3, 2012 (EDT)
A couple more things to note when using positive energy against the undead:
  • You will lose your target on wraiths when they fade out, but the target will relock when they fade back. If you spell goes off in this duration, your spell will be applied to yourself.
  • The heal spell will not actually kill the undead, it will take them to 1 hit point, then become ineffective. You may however follow it with a light cure spell and it will finish them off.
  • The skeletons at the end of The Lords of Dust are bugged, and will actually be healed by positive energy, not damaged. I'm not certain if this is intended (by the fact this hasn't been fixed, yet), but this is the only instance of this that is known.→ Taurolyon (ContributionsMessage) 00:24, April 27, 2012 (EDT)
A couple addends to Taurolyon's (Contribs • Message) notes... When you lose lock on wraiths that are faded out, if they do not fade back in within ~7 seconds iirc, you will have to manually re-target them. They occasionally bug out and don't fade back in fully or long enough to re-lock and you lose the lock until you re-[tab] to them. They fixed a similar issue with Treasure of Crystal Cove undead, don't see why they wouldn't have fixed those as well. ShoeMaker (Contributions Message) 00:34, April 27, 2012 (EDT)
