Talk:Item vs not

Hey Shu. I noticed you moved Elemental Spiral to Item:Elemental Spiral, and while I was editing Locus of Vol to note that it was no longer used as a Cannith Crafting ingredient I also noticed that Cannith Essence did not exist, while Item:Cannith Essence did, but both Lodestone and Intact Spore Pod would go to Item:foo and then immediately redirect to just foo.

Help me out here. When is an item an item, and when is it not? I'm not seeing a consistent use, and the redirection from item:foo to just foo seems to be in place for some things but not for others. I mean, Intact Spore Pod is an item, is it not? Niminae (ContribsMessage) 10:39, November 22, 2017 (EST)

  • Anything using T:Named item should always be in the Item: namespace. As far as ingredients and collectables go, there hasn't been a real consensus reached on the topic. There are many editors who do not consider them an "item" per se as they go in a bag. I'm personally of the belief that anything that "can" go into an inventory slot, should be an Item: page. However, due to the lack of a consensus, I'm not willing to move bagables to Item: most of the time unless I'm doing a bunch of other work to the page at the same time.  👟 ShoeMaker (Contribs • Message) 👟 11:37, November 22, 2017 (EST)
