Talk:Drop Rates

Hello All,

Wonderful wiki here, but one thing I cannot find is the drop rates for named items from chests. For example, the Snakeskin Vest from Frame Work and the Parasitic Breastplate from In The Flesh. Anyone know how rare they are?

Thanks! Lexey19 (ContributionsMessage) 12:36, May 10, 2012 (EDT)

Thanks for visiting!
Unfortunately, the drop rates are pretty random, based upon a percent (sometimes sub-percent) chance, unknown to anyone but the devs.
We could label them as "common" or "rare" but these are just words, and what might be common for one person might be rare to another, as they've had a streak of bad luck.
Pertaining to those two items, I've had a pretty good drop rate on the Snakeskin Vest, if I had to venture a guess, maybe 1 in 5, and 2 chests in that quest drop it if you do it on elite (quite a challenge, though). The Parasitic Breastplate, I've only seen twice, but I've only run that quest a handful of times, so I can't give figures, but I would guess low. This one should be obtainable by completing the quest arc three times to get a better loot list. Hope this helps! "Tauro" (Contributions Message) 15:42, May 10, 2012 (EDT)
Thanks! I was wondering why it was so difficult to find percentages posted anywhere. That makes sense now.
We do have a reason for not having percentages... It involves a small poem. There was once a man on the forums, who knew how to read the tables, till turbine found out, and locked him out, now he waits on tables ^.^ Yawgmoth ( IRCMessage ) 16:07, May 10, 2012 (EDT)
Is that a haiku? "Tauro" (Contributions Message) 13:08, May 16, 2012 (EDT)
Closest thing to what you need is It's for some raid loot and epics only and should be taken with a grain of salt since it's a 1 year old thread and nothing guarantees that the rates haven't changed since then. by Mjoll (ContributionsMessage) 16:42, May 10, 2012 (EDT)

The general numbers we’ve used for getting the Named Loot Table in the last few years’ worth of updates:

Normal/Epic Normal: 10%
Hard/Epic Hard: 16%
Elite/Epic Elite: 33%

Reaper boosts Elite’s numbers by 1% per skull, I believe.

The potions directly add to those numbers, so a 5% potion would push each of those up by 5.
