What does the "20%" on negative energy absorption stand for? I hope it's not a 20% chance negative energy absorption for an "Incredible Potential" item. That would make that ability useless.

no, not 20% chance. a gnoll cleric hits you with harm spell, you take 80 points of damage, instead of 100 points. Carved Bone Shield from Flesh Maker's Laboratory has the same effect.
oh, and that effect on the ring is purely based on speculation. nobody, on the forum nor on the wiki, actually crated the effect yet. its unconfirmed info.
