Known Traps
Tips and Misc
- The undead of Mabar have seized control of the Lordsmarch branch of the Bank of Kundarak... and turned it into a pop-up superstore. Suspiciously quickly, at that.
- As you enter the newly-opened Specter Night Revels you are greeted by two NPCs – Murph the Flameskull store greeter is mostly here to provide background info, but Francis Neeperstein the inventor immediately mistakes you for his personal shopper and sends you out on a quest to claim a replica Sunsword, a mounted Griffon head, and a massive pumpkin. What does he want these for? What's the concerning "creation" he keeps referring to? Why does he optionally also want you to bring him two creepy cloth dolls? Don't ask awkward questions.
- The main body of the quest is located through the door to the Back Room immediately to your right, but you may optionally also want to head down into the main bank to look for collectable dolls, as some of their possible spawn locations are here. (Note, however, that due to a bug, the Liches in this area are always CR 20, so for a low level character this may be a dangerous venture.)
- Known possible locations for the optional dolls (note that pressing Q will not find these dolls):
- On the floor in the north-east or south-east corners of the main bank
- Atop the first chandelier in the centre of the main bank
- In one of the Deposit Boxes in the main vault
- In a Deposit Box near Auntie Janneth in the back room's hidden vault
- On a barrel in the west part of The Back Room (south from the first west node of The Back Room)
- This area also contains a jumping puzzle. Jumping on three eyeballs with pressure plates underneath, scattered around atop skulls in the main room connected by various chandeliers, will cause a chest to appear atop the horned skulls at the very top of the room. The green signal crystals on the north door indicate how many eyeballs remain.
- Known possible locations for the optional dolls (note that pressing Q will not find these dolls):
- In the Back Room, first head west to pull the lever for the blue signal crystal, then head east and solve the Simon Says puzzle. Inside the room this unlocks, Esgan Tarikh the Mummy has already laid claim to one of the items you seek: the Perfect Pumpkin. You may be able to convince him to yield it with a Diplomacy or Bluff check (these scale based on level), but otherwise you must fight him for it.
- Now head south into the Deposit Box Room, which you may recognise from The Stormreaver Fresco. Fight off the various foes here and open the glowing Deposit Box to pick up the replica Sunsword.
- For some reason spells and ranged attacks won't pass through the door to this room, and enemies won't chase you through it. This allows you to withdraw to complete safety if you become overwhelmed.
- Most of the other Deposit Boxes only contain fixed items, as in The Stormreaver Fresco, but one locked box acts as a chest. Another, containing a carved pumpkin, is a potential doll location.
- Pulling a nearby lever in this room opens a portal to a hidden vault containing the Night Hag Auntie Janneth. She's found the mounted Griffon head, and she's decided it will make a perfect talking point for her coven's human sacrifice party. Unsurprisingly you aren't offered any dialogue options to negotiate over this one.
- With all three items collected, head back over to Francis Neeperstein to begin the final fight (if you want to get a 5-star score, make sure to find both creepy dolls before doing this.)
- Surprise, surprise – Francis is a mad scientist (the sort that starts using multiple exclamation marks, a sure sign of a diseased mind), and once he's finished grafting the items you collected to his Flesh Golem, he sets it on you. To complete the quest you must kill Francis, but as he becomes invincible at half health until his Creation is finished off, you'll need to take that out first.
- With the mad inventor's scheme stopped in its infancy, Stormreach is once again safe – even if your only reward was a 10% discount voucher off decorative entrails.
