Rorry Malcanus: I can't believe I opened a portal to Xoriat! It was an accident but the Twelve will dismiss me for certain!
Who would have thought that Belashyrra's Scepter could be so powerful. And to make matters worse, I left the Scepter inside when the portal opened. If I could get the Scepter back maybe the Twelve would forgive me ... but I'd never make it past all those monsters.
It would take someone much more powerful than an apprentice - someone like you! Will you do it? Will you go inside the Sleeping Spell Inn and retrive (sic) Belashyrra's Scepter?

Xoriat is the Plane of Madness, full with all kinds of horrors. Giving someone the power to open a portal to Xoriat at any time would be catastrophic! Imagine Beholders floating down the streets of Stormreach or Mind Flayers lurking in every tavern. No, we have to return the Scepter to the Twelve - they're the only ones who can keep safe!- You: (Sigh) All right. I'll retrieve the Scepter of Belashyrra for you.

- Rorry Malcanus: I came across the Scepter while I was inventorying some artifacts in the Tower of the Twelve. When I picked it up I could tell it was extremely powerful.
I was supposed to meet my girlfriend at the Sleeping Spell Inn for lunch, and ... well, I thought it couldn't do any harm to take the Scepter out of the Tower for an hour or two. I was showing Verona the Scepter when suddenly a portal to Xoriat appeared. I dropped the Scepter and ran! I mean, we all ran. All sorts of horrible things were coming out of the Portal.- You: Who is Belashyrra and what does he have to do with Xoriat?
- Rorry Malcanus: Belashyrra is also called the Lord of Eyes - he's the one who created Beholders. He's a Daelkyr, a creature from Xoriat with almost unimaginable power. Belashyrra has been imprisoned deep within Khyber for eons, so naturally I thought it would be safe to handle the Scepter.
