Priestess Ionna
Name: Priestess Ionna
Race: Drow Elf
Gender: Female
Location: Claw Canyon
Description: She is the priestess guiding four tribe warrior through Fire Giant territory to receive the blessing of Vulkoor.
The Claw of Vulkoor[edit]
When you first approach her, she will reply:
- Priestess Ionna: Good to see you made it. We are steps away from the giants' territory. Sadly, the Claw chose to appear among their caves. This is the only way in.
- Priestess Ionna: These fire giants are descendants of the Sulat League, and to them, every drow is a runaway slave. I doubt my warriors will stand for such treatment. That's why I thought adventurers might help us negotiate a passage. We can't allow old feuds to cost us more lives, not now.
- Priestess Ionna: Are you ready to go?
- You: Lead the way, priestess! Where are those giants? I think I'll have a few ...erm, words with them. (Start quest)
- You: Hold on priestess, I'm waiting for my friends. (Walk way)
After you agree to start, she and her warriors advance to talk to Sobrien:
- Priestess Ionna: We come in peace, giant. We only seek the Claw of Vulkoor.
- Warlock Sobrien: You will come no further, slaves. This place contains ancient burial grounds and I will not let them be desecrated.
- Drow Warrior: We are not slaves!
- Drow Warrior: We aren't grave robbers, either!
- Warlock Sobrien: Silence, slaves! Curse you and your insolence! Squirm like the vermin you are! Squirm before your master!
After you take care of Sobrien, you can approach Ionna in her new form, where she will ask for your help:
- Priestess Ionna: Well, this is awkward.
- Priestess Ionna: We won't be able to get through the giant caves in this form! My warriors don't know how to fight as scorpions... not yet. I hate to be in debt, but I need your help.
- Priestess Ionna: I know this curse, and Vulkoor can undo it... but you need to, how do I say this gently... catch and collect us all, then bring us to the claw yourself. I won't be able to herd the cursed warriors there on my own.
- Priestess Ionna: Grab my staff, too - it will be key to getting through to the Claw.
- You: Collect cursed warriors, grab your staff, deliver you to the Claw. Got it.
- Priestess Ionna: And one other thing. Try not to kill too many scorpions on your way, or you may anger Vulkoor, who values cunning over brute force. Scorpions of all shapes and sizes will swarm around the Claw, for they are naturally drawn to it, but most can be avoided.
- You: Avoid killing scorpions? Hmm. Well... what are you waiting for? Get in the sack, priestess.
- Priestess Ionna: I know I'm going to regret this...
- You: Let me think about that. (Walk away)
- You: Avoid killing scorpions? Hmm. Well... what are you waiting for? Get in the sack, priestess.
- Priestess Ionna: And one other thing. Try not to kill too many scorpions on your way, or you may anger Vulkoor, who values cunning over brute force. Scorpions of all shapes and sizes will swarm around the Claw, for they are naturally drawn to it, but most can be avoided.
- You: Scorpions! Why does it have to be scorpions?
- Priestess Ionna: Would you prefer we worshipped rust monsters or undead, instead?
- You: Collect cursed warriors, grab your staff, deliver you to the Claw. Got it.
When you reach the claw, she and her warriors will walk up to it and have the curse lifted. When you talk to her, she will say:
- Priestess Ionna: You did it! We are here at last, and the warriors are blessed. The tribe is in your debt, stranger.
- You: Really? That's quite a ... blessing.
- Priestess Ionna: Remember that you are on holy ground here. Vulkoor is a jealous god. Be mindful of what you say.
- You: Indeed. Thank you Vulkoor, for blessing these warriors, reborn in your image.
- Priestess Ionna: Remember that you are on holy ground here. Vulkoor is a jealous god. Be mindful of what you say.
- You: So how come you aren't, erm, blessed, as your friends are?
- Priestess Ionna: Vulkoor works in mysterious ways. But if I were to guess His will, he is punishing me for having doubts.
- Priestess Ionna: My warriors are brave souls, but I am not. Instead of taking chances against the giants I asked for your help. This was supposed to be a private matter of the tribe and perhaps Vulkoor is trying to tell me something.
- Priestess Ionna: You should feel privileged. Not many foreigners get to see the Claw of Vulkoor and live to tell about it. Who knows where it will show up next?
- You: You're a brave and wise woman, priestess. Don't let your own doubts deceive you.
- You: Hey, what are the chances of me receiving that blessing, too?
- Priestess Ionna: Don't even think about it. The Claw would kill instantly any non-believer. Don't even come close!
- Priestess Ionna: Vulkoor spared me today, even though I've brought you here, but he is not worshiped for his mercy! Soon, we will have to make sacrifices.
- Priestess Ionna: In fact, you'd best be on your way.
- You: Good call, priestess.
- You: You're welcome!
- You: Really? That's quite a ... blessing.
