Description
Padded armor features quilted layers of cloth and batting. It gets hot quickly and can become foul with sweat, grime, lice and fleas. Very maneuverable and silent, yet offers not much more protection than regular clothing.
Tips
This armor, along with Full Plate, can give the player the maximum AC bonus that their level allows them to gain because of the high dexterity bonus; if the character manages to reach 26 dexterity and thus gain the +8 dexterity bonus, the armor will give the character 9+ AC beginning from the lowest level available, along with full plate's +8 armour bonus and +1 dexterity bonus. However, the Padded Armour will be superior in some ways to Full Plate provided the dexterity bonus is put to full use because of its lack of an armour check penalty, miniscule spell failure percentage (5%) and lighter weight (10 lbs). Full Plate can be Mithral or Adamantine, however, and Padded Armor may not.
