Overview[edit]
Consuming a Jewel of Fortune grants your character a loot bonus on all chests for the next 3 to 6 hours that you are logged in and in a quest. The effect timer pauses while you are in public areas.
Jewels of Fortune increase the chest level: This does not mean better or more loot, but simply loot of higher minimum level. Chest level affects:
- Random loot
- Amount of gold/platinum
- Level of consumables (for example, a lvl 1 chest can drop a Wand of Shield, whereas a level 8 chest can drop a Wand of Stoneskin)
- Quality of (but not chance of finding) tomes.
Loot gems do not affect the chance of you finding a named item. DDO Forums & DDO Forums
Various effects that increase chest level stack (but only the highest Jewel of Fortune effect applies).
Similar types of Jewels of Fortune allow the timer to stack with multiple consumption. So adding a second small Jewel of Fortune to a timer with 1 hour remaining will give you 4 hours remaining.
Unlike the Treasure Finding feat, a loot gem only affects the level of loot for the player who has the effect when they open the chest. It does not affect the level of loot for anyone else.
