If you try to talk to him while at level 4 or lower, he will reply:
- Gunther Gloomtender: YA? YOUR MOTHER'S A HELLHOUND! What? Oh, just some friendly banter with the Silver Fools. Haha...oh don't you worry, we'll breach the gates of the Shadow Knight before they do.
If you are at level 5 or higher, however, he will reply:
- Gunther Gloomtender: The Tomb of the Shadow Knight isn't going to clear itself out, y'know. What's the hold up?
- You: What should I expect down there?
- Gunther Gloomtender: The guardian sleeps in the center of the Knight's tomb. There are 4 annexes, each with an altar inside. Purify the altars and the Guardian will awaken.
- You: Got it. (Bestow quest)

- You: I need more time to gather my strength. (Walk away)
- You: What should I expect down there?
Talking to him after acquiring the quest, but before completion, will make him say:
- Gunther Gloomtender: Why are you talking to me? GET DOWN THERE AND KILL THE MUMMY!
On completion of quest, he will congratulate you with the following:
- Gunther Gloomtender: I'm flabbergasted! Gobsmacked, even! Ach, we were already dividing up your possessions.
- You: Sorry to disappoint you, dwarf.
After completing the quest and taking the reward, if you talk to him again, he will reply:
- Gunther Gloomtender: The mummy is dead, eh? Good riddance. Now let's go after that vampire.
