• Return to the Sanctuary, in the cell to the left in the east wing.

Description: Fitzwood is the only survivor of the undead attack that happened in the Catacombs - not that this helps him much, as after talking to you, Fitzwood will transform into the Crazed Werewolf.

Return to the Sanctuary

When you caught up to Fitzwood he's praying:

• Fitzwood: Silver Flame, light the way, through war and darkness and despair.
• Fitzwood: No foe can dim your argent glow. No Child can live beyond your light. With sword in hand, your soldiers stand, O Silver Flame, burn ever bright!

When you talk to him, he will tell you:

• Fitzwood: Clothed in rags, the man cowers in the dark. Please ... she promised. Promised she wouldn't hurt Fitzwood!
• You: She? Who is 'she?'
  • Fitzwood: Why, the Mistress, of course. Fitzwood leers. Marguerite.
  • You: What happened here, Fitzwood?
    • Fitzwood: Mistress said they were coming. The whispers told her so. Spiders. Their bite kills, but what dies to them, does not stay dead. So many years shut up in this place ... them wardens did cruel things to of us. But she showed them, she did
    • You: You're saying Marguerite summoned these spiders, and the undead that resulted?
      • Fitzwood: Aye. Mistress commanded those creatures. Like a general, she was. Fitzwood's eyes grow soft. She's found her power. The one she was going on about. Duality, she called it ...
      • You: Come on. I've got to get you out of here. or
      • You: Follow me if you want to live, madman.
        • Fitzwood: No! Fritz can't! Fritz cursed! My father cursed me! Can't go until they cure me, can't go, no no! You can't make mee.. Grrrr!!!
        • Fitzwood: (Fritz trails into a feral snarl. His teeth grow sharper before your eyes)
      • You: Uh oh... or
      • You: What madness is this? or
      • You: Wait! Calm Down!
        • Fitzwood: transforms into the Crazed Werewolf
    • You: Why did she let you live?
      • Fitzwood: Fitzwood saw that she didn't belong. Fitzwood was kind to her. Told them wardens that she wasn't crazy, he did... but they beat her, anyway. Shocked her, burned her... but it all comes back. She did much worse to them! Ha!
      • You: So Marguerite summoned these undead? (See above)
  • You: Marguerite? The Archbishop's daughter?
    • Fitzwood: Archbishop! She hates him. Hates him! Put her down here, didn't he? Shut her up with Fitzwood and the other madders. Didn't belong, did she? Fitzwood saw it. That's why she let me live.
    • You: Let you live? What happened here? (See above)

• You: Get up. I'm here to rescue you.
  • Fitzwood: The man stares at you, and his eyes seem to clear. You ain't dead-dead. You ain't live-dead. Did I... dream it? Fitzwood can't never tell what's real. Is she still in her cell?

  • You: Never mind that. We've got to get out of here.
    • Fitzwood: NO! Fitzwood pulls away from you. She told me to stay, til she was gone! She gets in your head, she does. Says she'll bring me bees. They never lets me eat bees, 'round here...'
