Tips and Misc

There is no shrine in this short quest.
Make sure the party is ready before talking to Archbishop Dryden; finishing the conversation with him starts the fight a few moments later. The two iron defenders activate, and several skeleton archers and skeletal knights along with a Greater Arcane Skeleton will spawn after a while.
The quest completes when you kill Gerard Dryden. Once that's done, everything else dies, and you may leave the area through the usual gate.
- Note: On Reaper difficulties, Gerard Dryden must be killed last in order to get reaper experience due to there being exactly ten monsters (11 on epic; and not including reaper spawns).
On Epic, the Emissary of Shadow (a Glabrezu) also appears.
At this story point Archbishop Dryden seems to be completely ignorant about the fate of Marguerite Dryden.
Once the mission is complete, return to Friar Renau outside the Catacombs to get your quest reward and complete the story arc.
