Notes
- This spell is actually a combination of 2 spells. Clicking on it displays a sub menu with: Delayed Blast Fireball and Delayed Blast Fireball (Trap).
- The trap version functions identically, except it's a stationary delayed effect positioned where your mouse reticle is pointing. It has a time-delay of 30 seconds, however may be set off prematurely if an enemy creature runs directly through it. The spell point cost for this version is lower at 12SP, but the cooldown is much longer, making it difficult to use, at 10 seconds for sorcerers and 15 seconds for wizards.
- Inanimate objects also take this damage causing them to be destroyed. Objects just slightly out of the AOE range may be not be destroyed, but instead set ablaze.
- If the delayed blast fireball hits a destroyable barrier such as a wooden door or barrier of webs, the delayed blast fireball can destroy that barrier.
Tips
- Delayed Blast Fireball is the newer higher level version of DDO's original iconic fireball spell and perhaps the best designed spell in the entire game. Its fast casting, flawless manual targeting ability and massive AOE damage make it second to none. Its AOE is even increased compared to regular fireball.
- If you target an individual enemy, the delayed blast fireball will center on its current position at time of casting, allowing him time to move away before the explosion. Instead, try hitting the terrain he is moving towards. This will be especially important for targeting large packs of enemies, aim in between them for a better chance at hitting them all with delayed blast fireball's impressive area of effect range.
- Be careful: using delayed blast fireball on opponents who are trapped by the Web spell will most likely destroy the Web.
- Once you open the drop down menu that selects between trap and instant, you can drag the icon for one version or the other to a hotkey bar. This will allow you to automatically cast it from your hotkeys as an instant without needing to make the drop down menu selection for each cast
