DDO wiki:Username policy

Under development, things on this page may not be 100% in effect.

There are some usernames that will not be allowed on DDOwiki for various reasons. Violations of this naming policy will be subject to our blocking policy. These names fall into the following categories:

Spoof or Similar Name

Issue

Having a username intentionally similar to the username of an existing user may cause confusion and is not permitted. If the username you would like to have is taken, and the account is inactive, please contact anyone on the list of 18 Administrators and request to usurp the username instead of creating a similar name and running with it.

Recourse

These accounts will be blocked and the user will be required to request an unblock on their talk page. Appropriate changes will need to be made whether it is a rename or usurpation before the account will be unblocked.

Trollish or Offensive

Issue

Some names are obviously only intended to cause drama and or be offensive. These names will not be tolerated.

Recourse

The account will be blocked and the user will need to request a name change before they will be unblocked if they intend to edit.

Confusing or Misleading Usernames

Issue

Usernames that include some kind of title or status such as Steward, Admin, Bot (see section below for bot accounts), or any other similar name are not permitted.

Recourse

These accounts will be blocked and the user will be required to request an unblock on their talk page. Appropriate changes will need to be made whether it is a rename or some other change before the account will be unblocked.

Bot Accounts

Issue

Bot accounts are permitted as long as they are approved and created by the main account of the user that will be in control of the bot.

Recourse

Unapproved bot accounts will be blocked until process is followed.

Spambot

Issue

Spam accounts will be the greatest issue for the username policy, and will be blocked immediately with all content deleted.
