Page protection is a method of preventing accidental or intentional damage to wiki pages that should remain static. There are multiple levels of protection from editing and from moving.

Black Die Black die

Shortcut:
  • Pages in the Special: namespace can only be modified by physically modifying the MediaWiki (extension) PHP source code, which can only be implemented by Xevo (Contribs • Message). These kinds of changes are very unlikely to happen.
  • All pages in the MediaWiki: namespace are automatically protected by the MediaWiki software so that only administrators can modify them in any way.
  • User: pages suffixed with .js and .css have similar automatic protection by the system, but the owner of the userspace can modify/move as well as admin's.

Red Die Red die

Shortcut:

Pages with full edit/move protection can only be edited/moved by an administrator. If you are not an admin, and need assistance getting a fully protected page edited or moved, you should be able to put in a request on the talk page of the page that you need edited with a fully detailed description of what you want changed (or where you want it moved) and why, and an admin should either make the edit for you, ask for clarification, or deny the request.

Red/Blue Die Red/Blue die

Shortcut:

Pages with full edit and semi move protection can only be edited by an administrator, but any autoconfirmed editor can move the page. If you are not an admin, and need assistance getting a fully protected page edited, you should put in a request on the talk page of the page that you need edited with a fully detailed description of what you want changed and why, and an admin should either make the edit for you, ask for clarification, or deny the request. If you want the page moved and don't have the ability to do so yourself, you should put in a request on the talk page of the page that you need moved with a fully detailed description of why you want it moved, and someone should either move the page for you, ask for clarification, or deny the request.

Red/Purple Die Red/Purple die

Shortcut:

Pages with full edit and no move protection can only be edited by an administrator, but anyone can move the page. If you are not an admin and need assistance getting a fully protected page edited, you should put in a request on the talk page of the page that you need edited with a fully detailed description of what you want changed and why, and an admin should either make the edit for you, ask for clarification, or deny the request.

Blue/Red Die Blue/Red die

Shortcut:

Pages with semi edit and full move protection can be edited by any autoconfirmed editor but can only be moved by an administrator. If you are not autoconfirmed and need assistance getting a semi protected page edited, you should be able to put in a request on the talk page of the page that you need edited with a fully detailed description of what you want changed and why, and someone should either make the edit for you, ask for clarification, or deny the request. If you want the page moved and are not an administrator, you should put in a request on the talk page of the page that you need moved with a fully detailed description of why you want it moved, and an admin should either move the page for you, ask for clarification, or deny the request.

Shortcut:

Pages with semi edit/move protection can be edited or moved by any autoconfirmed editor. If you are not autoconfirmed, and need assistance getting a semi protected page edited or moved, you should put in a request on the talk page of the page that you need edited with a fully detailed description of what you want changed (or where you want it moved) and why, and someone should either make the edit/move for you, ask for clarification, or deny the request.

Purple/Red Die Purple/Red die

Pages with no edit and full move protection can be edited by any editor, but only an admin can move the page. If you want the page moved and are not an administrator, you should put in a request on the talk page of the page that you need moved with a fully detailed description of why you want it moved, and an admin should either move the page for you, ask for clarification, or deny the request.
