Challenge Barter System Rewards

Rewards are nominally available at levels 4, 8, 12, 16 and 20. Weapons and armor are available with ML 4, ML 8, ML 12, ML 16, and ML20. Clothing and jewelry are normally available one level earlier (ML 3, ML 7, ML 11, ML 15) with the exception of Epic items which remain ML 20.

Starting at level 8, items feature Tiers 2 & 3. These higher tiers require that you have an item of next lower tier (i.e., you need to build Tier 1 → Tier 2 → Tier 3). Tier 3 items created [upgraded to] between U12.1 and U32 were Bound to Character on AcquireBound to Character on Acquire: This item is Bound to Character on Acquire and will remain in that state.

In addition, you can upgrade an item from one level to the next higher level (i.e. you can upgrade an ML 8 to ML12). Note that the upgraded item will revert to Tier 1. Since you can upgrade a Tier 1 item directly to the next higher level, upgrading Tier 2 and Tier 3 is therefore not very cost-effective.

Upgrading pre-U32 items

Upgrading a pre-U32 from Tier 2 to Tier 3 will only add an augment slot, it will no longer allow Cannith Crafting, nor will it convert the enhancements to the new version. Upgrading a pre-U32 from Level 11 to 15 will convert the enhancements to the new version.

Example: Upgrading a pre-U32 ML 11 Ring of the Stalker from tier 2 to tier 3 will result in a version with Insightful Sneak Attack Bonus +1, Seeker 4, Manslayer and a Green Augment Slot (instead of the current version with Insightful Deception +3, Seeker 8, Manslayer, and a Green Augment Slot). However, upgrading a pre-U32 ML 11 Ring of the Stalker from ML 11 to ML 15 will result in the current version (Insightful Deception +3, Seeker 8, Manslayer, Ethereal).

In some cases, you might get a ‘better’ item from buying a new Tier 1 item rather than upgrading the old item.

• All Cannith Challenge ingredients are Bound to Account, so can be traded between characters on the same account via a Shared Bank (only).

• Some ingredients are always awarded, even if XP gained is zero. At level, you get 100% normal score (and thus rewards) for any given challenge. You get less when you are above the quest's level, to a minimum of 10% for being 5 or more levels over. If you are on a 20 running a challenge that only goes up to level 15, you get identical score penalties (and thus rewards penalties as they are a direct percentage of your score) going in on level 15 or level 4.

• Epic version ingredients are only used for the Tier 2/3 upgrades for Level 20 version items. They can only be obtained by running Epic version challenges.

• As "ingredients", they can be collected and/or stored in a green Ingredients bag.

Craftable

Tier 3 versions of the items at level 8/12/16 can be enchanted via Cannith Crafting. These enchantments increase the minimum level of the item. Using Master Craftsmanship I offsets the minimum level increase of the crafted properties by 2. It is also possible to use Masterful Craftsmanship shards to reduce the level of the item below its base level.

Items that have had additional properties added to them via Cannith Crafting can be reset using a Dust of Disjunction.
