The Marketplace[edit]

If you try to talk to him while at level 1, he will reply:

  • Burton Furst: Hmmm, no time to talk. Have to deal with all these vermin.

If you are at level 2 or higher, however, he will reply:

  • Burton Furst: Sewer rats I can deal with. Cockroaches I can deal with! But this - this is not the kinda thing I was trained for.
  • Burton Furst: We've got nasty vermin crawling out of the new area we found next to The Sunken Sewer. Swarms of them, and deadly!
  • Burton Furst: It's going to take an adventurer to deal with it. Can you help? It's a dirty job but I can pay ... well, a bit anyway.
    • You: I'll take the job. Where is this infestation?
      • Burton Furst: Head down and talk to Arcanist Kiton. Tell her I sent you. She'll open up the secret entrance to The Covered Culvert, the newly discovered area where the bugs are coming from.
      • Burton Furst: Good luck. Who knows what you'll find down there? But hey, that's the thrill of working the sewers, right?
      • You: Uh, sure. Point me to the Covered Culvert and I'll deal with the infestation. (Begin Quest).
      • You: Close Window (leave).
    • You: Can't be the Sunken Sewer. I think I took care of that problem. Troglodytes and Kobolds wasn't it?
      • Burton Furst: I didn't say it was the Sunken Sewer! I said it was the new area we found NEXT to the Sunken Sewer. The Covered Culvert, we're calling it. (You like that name? It's my idea!)
      • Burton Furst: After you killed all them creatures in the Sunken Sewer - thanks for that by the way, though you did leave quite a mess - the sewer workers cleaning it up found a secret door right near the entrance.
      • Burton Furst: They opened it up and found a completely unexplored part of the sewer. But before they could get very far, all kinds of dangerous vermin attacked 'em.
      • Burton Furst: The workers ran out of the sewer as fast as they could. They got an arcanist to magically seal the door shut, then called me to take care of the bugs. And now, I'm hiring you.
        • You: How can there be an unexplored part of the sewers? Didn't the city build them?
          • Burton Furst: Hah! You really think the Coin Lords would spring for that amount of city infrastructure?
          • Burton Furst: Nah. Most of the sewers are way older than the current Stormreach. I've heard tell they date way back to the days of the giants.
          • Burton Furst: There are huge parts of the sewers no city official knows anything about. Could be anything down there!
            • You: I guess we'll find out. How do I get into this place?
              • Burton Furst: Head down and talk to Arcanist Kiton. Tell her I sent you. She'll open up the secret entrance to The Covered Culvert, the newly discovered area where the bugs are coming from.
              • Burton Furst: Good luck. Who knows what you'll find down there? But hey, that's the thrill of working the sewers, right?
                • You: Uh, sure. Point me to the Covered Culvert and I'll deal with the infestation. (Begin Quest).
                • You: Close Window (leave).

    • You: Close Window (leave).

On completion of the quest, he will congratulate you with the following:

  • Burton Furst: So an insane druid was behind it all? Huh. Go figure.
  • Burton Furst: I was kinda hoping it would turn out to be some kind of manifestation of a long-forgotten god, or maybe an insane experiment gone wrong.
  • Burton Furst: But a crazy druid is good. It's better source for vermin than, I dunno, somebody's secret garbage dump. Then we'd have to clean it all up.
  • Burton Furst: Anyway, I said I'd pay. So here you go.
    • You: It was a dirty job but someone had to do it.

After completing the quest and taking the reward, if you talk to him again he will reply:

  • Burton Furst: Can you help me out <your name>? I'm trying to get rid of an infestation down in the sewers.
