Tips and Misc

  • Unpredictable as always, the Mists of Ravenloft have decided to jaunt you briefly into a warehouse in Lamordia. (This quest was initially meant to be included with The Chill of Ravenloft but wasn't ready for the expansion's release, so it was retooled into a free-to-play quest in a subsequent update.) Immediately upon arriving, you jump to the accidental rescue of Helm Muller, a citizen of Ludendorf who's been grabbed by a couple of Deadmongers.
    • Like the expansion it's associated with, this quest can be accessed from misty gates in both House Jorasco and Eveningstar.
  • Helm tells you he's here to investigate the sudden disappearance of his friend Felix Wagner, last seen in the vicinity of this warehouse. He can't find the way in – and at any rate, the ambush has left him rather shaken up – but you quickly locate a hidden lever in a nearby breakable crate.
  • It becomes quickly apparent that the warehouse is in fact a concealed laboratory, although from the swarms of lab rats that greet you as you enter, it's obvious something has gone horribly wrong. Irma Meyer, a surprisingly friendly scientist – probably thanks to you saving her from the lab rats – assumes Doctor Gustav, the lab's owner, has hired you to clear out some escaped subjects and lift the lockdown. You don't correct her, as you wouldn't mind a quick poke around the lab yourself.
  • Heading north and pulling a couple of levers (putting down psionic lab rat Subject 17 on the way) opens the door to the Construct Lab, where you encounter the Rebel Mind. This Brain in a Jar is behind the lab's stock of Flesh Golems breaking out and slaughtering the scientists. Unfortunately, you don't have time to tell the Rebel Mind that you're not here to recapture it before it attacks.
  • There's still no sign of Felix or Doctor Gustav, but defeating the Rebel Mind does allow you to reach the lever puzzle that lifts the lockdown in the lab, allowing further exploration. (The combination of levers you need to pull is 512, as a note in an earlier section of the dungeon notes – order is important in this case.)
  • A secret door just north of the new junction leads to the Maintenance Area, now infested with rats and an angry Grick. Your next objectives, however, are behind two new corridors leading to the north and the south.
  • The North door leads to the Survival Skills Obstacle Course, where you can either fight your way through a crowd of Flesh Golems in an upstairs observation chamber or run a gauntlet of traps to reach a laboratory containing a lever. (An Experimental Teleporter in this room will take you back to the junction where you fought the Rebel Mind after the lever is pulled.) The South door leads to the Test Subject Holding Area, which is just a simple fight. With both levers pulled, you can head east to the door to the Inner Sanctum, pulling a third and final lever to gain access.
  • Doctor Helmut Gustav, from the research logs littered around his laboratory, doesn't seem to think much of Doctor Mordenheim's servitor constructs – something that would have given him a few points in your book if he hadn't decided it was a much better idea to start grabbing people off Ludendorf's streets and implanting their brains into random animals (although at the very least he's managed to out-science the deranged Diederich Klein by performing the operation successfully.) This is the unlucky fate that has befallen Felix Wagner, now a very distressed lab rat, who asks you to eliminate the mad Doctor before he can restart his operation in a less destroyed laboratory.
  • Once you've beaten him down to half health, Gustav unleashes his masterwork, Subject 77B, and activates two Electrical Pylons in the room before shielding himself. You only need to kill Subject 77B, which will break the shield and allow you to kill Gustav, but the Pylons will periodically electrify the floor near them, so you may need to break one if you need somewhere safe to stand.
  • Returning Felix to his original body is beyond your capabilities, but you've managed to avenge him by ridding Lamordia of its next would-be genius tyrant – and freed yourself from the Mists of Ravenloft in record time.
  • There are five research logs (Bug: this isn't enough to complete the optional, which currently requires six):
    • One in Irma's room
    • One south of Subject 17's room
    • One in the observation chamber in the Survival Skills Obstacle Course
    • One in the laboratory in the Test Subject Holding Area
    • One in the inner sanctum near Felix
