A typical Bearded Devil

Overview[edit]

Bearded Devils are Evil Outsider type monsters. As all devils, they are always Lawful Evil.

Description[edit]

Bearded Devils, also called Barbazus, are the tough shock troopers of the devil army. They stand 6 feet tall and weight about 225 pounds.

Combat[edit]

Bearded devils are aggressive and love to fight. They revel in their battle frenzy, spreading mayhem among their foes. They focus on melee combat and pursue their foes relentlessly, teleporting to them if they move out of range. They have a special ability that allows them to curse foes on critical hits with their hellspears. Certain more powerful versions can even bestow cursed wounds - generally just the ones encountered in raids.

A bearded devil’s natural weapons, as well as any weapons it wields, are treated as evil-aligned and lawful-aligned for the purpose of overcoming damage reduction.

Battle Frenzy

When a Bearded Devil HP drops below half of its total, it enters into a battle frenzy that provides the benefits of Rage and Haste. The frenzy is activated even if the bearded devil can't take any actions (eg, by being dazed or stunned), lasts for 1 minute and the bearded devil suffers no ill effects afterward.
