The collectible reward seems to be Crude Talisman = Collected Dragonshards/10 for equal level players and Collected Dragonshards/100 for players much higher than the quest level.
Data:
* Lvl 8 quest, lvl 4 player (solo), 2 stars, 991 shards: 99 talismans --User:Tokhg
* Lvl 4 quest, lvl 20 player (solo), 3 stars, 1845 shards: 18 talismans --User:Tokhg
* Lvl 15 quest, lvl 20 player (solo), 2 stars, 1415 shards: 14 talismans --User:Tokhg
:Yep. There is quite a massive penalty applies if your over lvl, so level 20s have quite a hard time acquireing these, as even at the maixmum CR (20), even very good runs with 4000+ shards only net something like 40 talismans. --Shade 23:12, November 21, 2011 (EST)
|tips = These improved handwraps are created when the Stonedust Handwraps are fused with the Staff of the Shadow and the Mark of Tzaryan Rrac. The original handwraps are normally bound to account, but after crafting, these handwraps can be sold and traded, provided they are not equipped, which will bind them to character. While Path of Harmonious Balance Monks will enjoy the extra HP-stealing that augments their healing curse, Path of Inevitable Dominion Monks can now enjoy a bit of life-stealing to support their hit points. Monk Improved Recovery and similar enhancements will aid in the gains of these handwraps, if you can achieve at least 200% Healing Amplification. Once fused, the Stunning effects work normally, as opposed to the regular handwraps dropped before Update 8.
|overview = Coin Lord Varen Lassite asked you to find out what's causing the strange sounds heard near the Palace recently. The sounds seem to be coming from Lordsmarch Plaza. Varen suspects that the sounds are the precursor to some sort of Droaam attack.
|obj=
* Kill Kaboom the Demolitions Master
* Find the other end of the Droaam tunnel
* (Optional) Destroy Cascade (20% base exp)
* (Optional) Destroy Rock Wall (15% base exp)
* (Optional) Destroy the rolling boulder (10% base exp)
|expect=
* Traps (fixed, some undisarmable)
* Spawning/respawning monsters
|traps=
Trap DC's
* A rolling boulder appears in a long tunnel, located after a bridge near a shrine near quest's end. It can be destroyed by a (quick) ranged attack safely, or with 3 or 4 blade barriers down the tunnel - OR with proper timing, a Droaam explosive can be set to destroy the boulder. The boulder does massive HP damage and knockdown; direct attack is not recommended.
* There is a huge minefield, which can either be blown up step by step with the explosives, or one character with good armor and reflex saves may tumble through or with a jump spell you can jump and walk on the elevations. Alternatively, one can simply sneak through without setting off the explosives.
|misc=
* The quest begins in an quest instance of Lordsmarch Plaza, where a massive explosion allows several waves of Droaam forces to invade. You must fend off these enemies before entering the tunnel they created. There are numerous guards around the courtyard who can help you if you kite an enemy around to them. However, the guards are fairly weak and will die quickly unless healed often. The Droaam forces will patrol the area in a set pattern (from the palace entrance to the Marketplace entrance) if there are no enemies visible when they spawn. Individual Droaam soldiers can then be pulled away from the group as they patrol and dealt with singly.
* The Droaam explosive charges have an extreme area of effect. Rogues with Mechanic enhancements may be able to set charges faster than other players. Do not have any players or hirelings linger close to the explosion or death is probable. If you are stealthed when you set a charge, you will be destealthed when the charge sets (at the end of the channel). However, you can immediately restealth IF you are not in line of sight of any creature. That is, if you are behind a creature, it will not detect you unless you move before you restealth.
* Mind-controlled creatures will die from an explosion and count as kills
* If soloing as a rogue, when you first acquire Droam explosive charges, immediately set one against the wall behind you in order to kill the elemental that spawns there before it spawns.
* Breakables broken by explosions do not count (barrels on tunnel to optional at shrine)
* Rhyolite can appear in the first cavern when you blow up the first pile of rubble. A stealth character can kill him with a Droam explosive charge without being detected.
* Rock Wall can spawn in the side chamber sealed off by rubble.
* The wooden floor near one set of shrines (and many explosive barrels) can be destroyed with a demolition charge, revealing the underwater path to where Cascade spawns.
* Mines can be blown up with demolition charges.
* Kaboom, the end-boss, appears at the start of the quest but cannot be killed until the end-fight. Have fire resists ready throughout the quest as he uses mines, and many other kobolds use fire attacks as well.
* At the end fight, Kaboom will run away when his health is low, dropping mines in his wake. As a rogue or other high stealth character, you can complete the entire end fight without directly engaging him, however. Simply use the Droam explosive charges to clear out all of the enemies without being detected, then use the charges on Kaboom himself. Sneak up behind him, set a charge, restealth, and get away. Repeat until dead.
* Once the quest is completed, you will reuse this tunnel (which will now appear for completing players in the public instance of the Plaza) to complete the final quest in the arc, Siegebreaker.
*Instant death works well here, but be forewarned that Ghaele Cleric Eladrin will cast Death Ward upon themselves, and its nearby allies.
*The enemy types featured in this quest are chaotic outsider extraplanars and subject to Banishing weapons.
*Bralani Eladrin are vulnerable to Cold Iron.
*Target Clerics first, as they have the ability to heal their nearby allies.
*One useful tactic for the end fight is to have one party member climb the stairs and talk to Tolarn, while the others wait off to the right hand side beyond the stairs. Two of the orange-named devil party will spawn here, Faizi Larix (who can be energy drained and 'insta-killed')and one of the orthons who can be defeated in short order meaning the fight effectively becomes 2 named, then 3 rather than all 5 at once.
*Instead, for the end fight, have the party stand in the tunnel to the left of Tolarn, beyond some rubble. Have one character talk to Tolarn and rush back out of his room before the devils actually spawn. One devil will spawn near the party and aggro, and you can fight him alone. Then wait for the two Orthons to move into their own tunnels, and either pull the left one, or head into Tolarn's room and kill him. Then proceed to kill what's left one by one.
Trivia
*Several of the Vale quest names are references to song names from ~80s hard rock/heavy metal bands:
**"Running with the Devils" is the first track from Van Halen's 1978 "Van Halen" album.
**"Rainbow in the Dark" is a track and a single from Ronnie James Dio's 1982 "Holy Diver" album.
**"Let Sleeping Dust Lie" is a bit more obscure but most likely a reference to a track from Michael Schenker Group's 1981 album "MSG". The track is titled ""Let Sleeping Dogs Lie"
Notes
* Elemental/Alignment Burst - these only apply to Unarmed attacks. See developer quote below for its stacking nature with Handwraps.
* 20% Negative Energy Absorption = Absorbs 20% of a negative energy spell cast at you. Does not protect against Level Drain.
* You may apply only one of the above effects to a single ring, but this effect can later be removed by the use of a Yellow Dopant (prior to Update 14, disjunction was not possible)
* Update 14 changed the way how +2 stats work. They are now +2 "Insight bonuses", which does fully stack with +1 Exceptional bonuses but not with newly added Insightful +3s.
* Update 14 also changed the spell boost enhancements, details unknown yet.

{{quote|developer=Eladrin|source=http://forums.ddo.com/showpost.php?p=2366808&postcount=51|quote=

Quote (player):
Monks are the WEAKEST class period.

A well built, well equipped, and well played level 20 pure-class monk is an exceptionally powerful character. Weakness at any of the three seriously cripples them however, which is why they're considered (at least by us) an advanced class.

Quote (player):
Dang...Does this mean if you craft two of the new rings you will get the 4 effects? Like, if you
made Holy Burst and Shocking Burst, would they count once for each each hand?

That is correct. The first ring will add "Holy Burst" to all of your unarmed attacks, and the other ring would add "Shocking Burst". The rings do not stack with exactly identical effects. (No Holy Burst Ring + Holy Burst Handwraps, but Holy Burst Ring + Holy or Pure Good Handwraps will work.)

Quote (player):
Unlike every OTHER GS weapon, the Monk ring effects do NOT stack with their regular equivalents.

The rings are not greensteel weapons. They're different. In some ways better, in other ways worse. (Note: There are also a couple of incorrect assumptions that have been made regarding some of the available enchantments on them, but those will clear as there is more experimentation with them. Their enchant list is similar to, but does not exactly match, the greensteel weapon enchantment set.)

Quote (player):
Handwraps are the only weapon in the game that cant have transmuting on it.

I tried to be subtle about it in a different thread, but it wasn't picked up. This statement is incorrect. There's even a named set of transmuting handwraps that Tharagrim made (that I was really waiting to show up in the Static Rewards / Unique Loot list, but wasn't found).

In an update following the EU launch, there are some revisions planned to monk special attacks and finishing moves. I'll give more information on that as I can.
|overview=The Coin Lord Graden Wylkes told you that the Droaam navy has mined Stormreach Harbor. Wylkes wants you to destroy the Droaam's minelaying ships.

Go to the Harbor and speak with the Harbor Pilot Mist. She'll take you out on the water so that you may begin your mission.
|obj=
* Destroy the Droaam minelayer ships - 3 total
* (Optional) Sink the Droaam fleet without raising an alarm (40% of base XP)
* (Optional) Assassinate the captain of the Vengeance (20% of base XP)
* (Optional) Assassinate the captain of the Bloodlust (20% of base XP)
* (Optional) Assassinate the captain of the Carnage (20% of base XP)
* (Optional) Destroy the Vengeance without alerting its crew (20% of base XP)
* (Optional) Destroy the Bloodlust without alerting its crew (20% of base XP)
* (Optional) Destroy the Carnage without alerting its crew (20% of base XP)
|expect=
* Spawning/respawning monsters
* Stat checks (optional: require INT checks)
* Randomly placed quest items (mandatory: 3 crests)
|traps=
None
|misc=
* You need a Crest to enter the Mine Bay on each ship that can be found either in the galley, the bridge, the Captain's Quarters or the Lower Deck; the Mine Bay can be accessed from the Lower Deck of each ship.
* Archers and Kobolds throw fire or acid attacks, so get the proper resistance.
* You need Intelligence (11 was sufficient on Normal, 18 on Hard, 21+ on Elite) to unlock the mine bay doors using the control panel.
* Setting the timer for 15 seconds will probably NOT give you enough time to get clear of the explosion. (Unless you have Dimension Door).
* Once one ship has exploded, a general alarm is raised aboard each of the other ships.
* If you have the Trapmaking feat, you can create remote detonators to trigger the mines on each ship.
* The middle ship, Vengeance, seems to have bugs. Taking exit doors from Captain's Quarters and Galley to the Deck makes you lose your sneak stance and invisibility buffs, where they shouldn't. This is making the stealth optional hard to complete. (This appears to have been fixed as of U10.)
* The barrels of "The Good Stuff" are explosive.
* The Droaam forces patrolling the decks respawn.
* Monsters and breakables left on the ship don't count towards the kills/breakables bonuses
* The monsters will tend to head towards the alarm bells when they first see you (before the alarm is raised in that area) and when they drop to a certain point in their health. You can use that to your advantage with AoE spells like Blade Barrier and Wall of Fire.
* Useful elemental buffs:
** Normal: acid, electric, fire
* Bash can be found on the Carnage's bridge.
* Ghol Kaaz can be found in the Vengeance's Captain's Quarters
* Lobo can be found in the Bloodlust's Captain's Quarters
* Note that each kobold chief engineer has one special trait, which can make them more difficult for different types of players:
** Kozad (Bloodlust) has a bit higher Spot skill and AC (confirmed 42 on hard).
** Krom (Carnage) has higher average damage than other kobolds, reported to be around 10-20 more per attack.
** Krakkle (Vengeance) can throw both fire and acid.
Sustaining Song
* Expend a use of Bardic Music to apply a temporary fast-healing effect to all nearby allies. It lasts for 24 seconds plus 6 seconds per Bard level, healing for 2d3 hit points every 2 seconds. It also casts Cure Light Wounds, Mass (once, as soon as the song finishes playing). The healing effect is considered a Positive effect, which is affected by all incoming bonuses/penalties (Human Improved Recovery, Warforged resistance, etc.) to which Healing spells are subject, but not outgoing effects (Bard Song Magic, Devotion, Potency). Any summoned undead in the party will continue to take damage until the song wears off; however, Pale Masters in Undead form are immune.

Song of Capering
* Expend a use of Bardic Music to make a single enemy dance helplessly. A successful Will save negates this effect. (DC Based on Perform check.) Unlike most songs, this casts very quickly, with the dance effect hitting before the song finishes. Does not share the touch range limitation of Otto's (Ir)resistible Dance. Perfect for Beholders.

Sustaining Song
* Expend a use of Bardic Music to apply a temporary fast-healing effect to all nearby allies. It lasts for 24 seconds plus 6 seconds per Bard level, healing for 1d3+3 hit points every 2 seconds.

Walkthrough (thanks in large part to this forum post)

Some say that the "Tormented" are not the zombies in the tomb, but you. Grab your +11 Hat of Patience, and let's get started.

Entering this tomb, you find yourself standing on a grate that looks down into a maze. There are small holes interspersed throughout the maze, and a bunch of zombies and wights on your level.

First thing to do is to clean out up top. Destroy all of the sarcophagi and the wights within them. If you don't destroy the sarcophagi manually, they may break on their own, releasing a wight.

As you kill the zombies, pieces of rotten meat will drop to the ground. Stuff the meat through the holes in the floor to lead one of the Famished Rats through to the exit of the maze. The defeated zombies will pop back up after a minute, so you have a ready supply of meat. This procedure is repeated through two more mazes, each one getting consecutively more complex.

A few things you should know:

* You can only move one rat at a time; the others do not move. If your rat dies, it will respawn back in its "home", so don't worry about rat death. There are carcass eaters and worgs in the mazes, and they will kill your rat, but your rat will fight back. Two or three rats in a row will usually kill off a single bad guy, although not so well on Elite.
* Your rat is undead. Thus it can be healed by death aura. Sustaining Song will however damage YOUR rat. Singing the sustaining song when the rat is about to complete the maze, is a guaranteed way to kill your rat after it has exited the maze BUT before waking up Akhom. This will bug the quest.

** Death Aura penetrates the floor and can be used to similar effect on an arcane caster.
** An Artificer's rune arm blast from Animus, Hand of the Tombs or Khyber's Fury will penetrate the floor.
** The worgs will not touch the meat.
** The Carcass Eaters will eat your meat, but in doing so they take a small amount of damage. With enough meat, they can be killed this way.
*** It may not be in your best interest to kill them. While only the Starving Rats will complete the maze for you and wake the mummy, the Carcass Eaters can be lured with the meat onto pressure plates to activate them or if you chose, to their death in the blade traps.
* Each time your rat eats a piece of meat, he gets a tiny bit of health back.
* In the second two mazes, there are pressure plates with a rose design on them. When your rat steps on them, it will change the position of the swinging doors. If the rat steps on them again, it will switch the doors back.
* It is possible to block bad guys behind different walls, but it may be easier to just kill them with rats. They do not walk into the areas with spikes.
* In the last maze there are blade traps; you need to move your rat through carefully, timing the traps for when they turn off, or when they move down the hall. You can disarm the stationary blades - there are boxes at different points in the room where you can reach them.
* A strategy that makes the third maze easier: drag all the zombies away out of the line of sight of the third maze - back to an alcove near the second maze works well. Kill them all there and park your party members -- the ones who will do the killing -- with the zombies. The person who is going to solve the maze can now do so in peace, without being attacked by zombies, as long as he has enough rotting flesh to poke into the rat maze.
* Once all three mazes are complete, the rats will wake up the mummy. After you defeat the mummy, you can go into the maze if you wish. Most often, the second maze contains a silver key, but it can also appear in the other mazes. This key opens the chest in the third maze located at the rat respawn point. The chest cannot be picked.
* To ensure you get the full 25% conquest bonus, you may need to kite the mummy for a brief period while killing one or two wights created by destroying the sarcophagi in the final room.
* Once you've completed this quest, the words "rat maze" will probably strike fear into your heart.
* The (Optional) Defeat the wight tormentors can only be completed near the end or post completion, as a few wights hide in coffins in the final boss area.
* Locate the source of the stench
* Dispel the East fountain's corruption
* Dispel the West fountain's corruption
* Dispel the North fountain's corruption
* Find the source of the North waterfall
* Find the source of the West waterfall
* Defeat Odji
* (Optional) Cleanse the urns of blight - (30% base XP)
* (Optional) Slay forty blighted oozes - (20% base XP)
|expect=
* Spawning/respawning monsters
|traps=No traps found
|misc=
* Blight Rot is a special effect that causes -1 damage to Strength, Constitution, Wisdom, and Charisma, and slows your character's movement and attack speeds by 50% every 15 seconds. It's caused by stepping into any of the water on the floor. Bring lots of Lesser Restore potions!

* Vials are located in the north passage past the body. Refill them at the various fountains. You can carry up to ten at a time. If someone is infected with blight, throw the vial at the ground and let that person walk through it to cure them. The vials can also be thrown at the various blight monsters to inflict damage (generally 60-80pts). Ooze puppet is a useful spell to control blight oozes at times. Be sure to bring plenty of expendable weapons, as weapons will break often - or use muckbane or everbright. There is one locked chest in the dungeon that requires a key. The key is located between the west fountain and the northwest corner of the map by swimming through an underwater eastbound passageway located under the flooded room you must cross by jumping across crates. (The water is obviously Blighted.)

* Piercing, Slashing or Electricy damage from any spell or weapon will split the blight oozes into violet slimes, which you can kill much easier with fire spells (Blight Oozes are otherwise extremely tough and also immune to fire). On elite difficulty, the violet slimes have far fewer hit points than the blight oozes, so it will be preferable to split the blight ooze and kill the significantly weaker violet ones.
** Bug: Blight oozes don't split into violet slimes on casual and normal difficulty.

* Breaking the sarcophagi will spawn Blight Zombies that are replaced with one of a variety of skeleton monsters when killed. Those skeletons can often be more dangerous than the original zombie.

* The urns that can be cleansed by throwing a vial at them as an optional are generally in the various alcoves and small side passages shown on the map. The end boss can be treated as any other mummy and spawns alone.

* Do not leave the quest while blighted. The only way to cure the blight is with the holy water, and you will have to repeat it (which can be a pain, given that the blight slows your movement) in order to get access to some holy water again.

* If you do leave while blighted, death will remove the effect. Die in a tavern to avoid equipment damage. Using /death is faster than waiting for the blight to kill you. Remember, if you re-enter to cure the blight, you must re-complete the quest to stay flagged for the Cursed Crypt.

* Bug Alert: Flask of Holy Water - There appears to be a bug with equipping the flasks that causes bows and crossbows to cease doing damage to anything, until you change ammo types and shoot at something with the alternate ammo.

* Ransack bonus: Impossible
**Note: Getting conquest requires killing a few respawning oozes. They will also be required to complete the optional, as there are only about 15 oozes total, of which about 5 respawn.
This wilderness adventure zone can be accessed through the Salty Wench via the House Deneith Port Agent, the Harbor Port Agent (Nadine Shipton just to the Northwest of the Lighthouse island), or the House Kundarak port agent (Mevrin Undertow, near Arlsie Forr and due south of the Vault of Night). Accessible to characters with minimum level 3, this allows level 3 to 8 characters full XP rewards.
|overview= The Lords of Dust blew a huge hole in the Harbor wall, exposing a long-hidden entrance to Khyber. A horde of Rakshasas and Drow have entered the breach.

You must follow them and take the Road to Tarath Marad. Once inside, search for Brother Aurelius, a member of the Silver Flame who can help in defeating the Lords of Dust.

This is the second quest of the story arc Web of Chaos. You must complete The Lords of Dust to access this quest.
|obj=
* Find Brother Aurelius
* Find the first spider crest
** Find the second spider crest
*** Use the two crests to disable the Silver Flame barrier
* Defeat Drow priestess Sabriz Rinzyn Kho
* (Optional) Find a way to open the sealed door - 10% of base xp
* (Optional) Defeat the Fire Reaver Lord - 20% of base xp
* (Optional) Defeat Flamefang and his minions - 20% of base xp
* (Optional) Disrupt the Drow ritual - 20% of base xp

|traps= One: An area with narrow walkways and spike-filled pits on either side.
|misc=
* Near the start of the quest, in the room with the lava where the fire reavers attack, there are a couple of levers to open the runed door on the other side of the nearby lava. The chest inside is locked. If you drop down the first point of no return, you will not be able to get back to this chest unless you have Dimension Door.
**The chest open lock DC is 60 - enough to make it difficult to knock, but reasonable to open with a reasonably skilled rogue/artificer. The DC does not appear to scale with difficulty.
* There are several points in this quest where you are ambushed by Fiendish Spiders. Keep your guard up.
** As you progress, you will find that the passage forward is blocked by a web. The ambushes happen at these locations, and defeating the ambushes opens the passage.

* Khyber Reavers are a special type of Fire Reaver that like to chuck meteors at you from range. They primarily deal fire damage, so bring fire resistance.
* Using the first drow barrier control is a slow process. You will be faced with a series of respawning Khyber Reavers who can interrupt you, forcing you to start over.
* The fight with the drow priestess is a wave attack. She puts up a shield and you are faced with waves of different creatures spawning in the corners of the room. Once the last wave ends, you fight the priestess herself.
* If you finish out without using the door inside the quest to continue to the third and final quest in this chain, you will be able to enter the final quest by selecting the dungeon entrance in the Harbor. This allows your group to heal and regroup before the final fight.
* Deathward and Freedom of Movement is needed against the drow enemies.
* Useful elemental buffs:
** Krom (Carnage) has higher average damage then other kobolds, reported to be around 10-20 more per attack.
** Krakkle (Vengeance) can throw both fire and acid.

|overview=Chronicle reporter Hector Hyssop has tracked down the person - or thing - responsible for creating the Taken. He wants you to put an end to the horror of the Taken once and for all.

According to Hector, the mastermind behind the Taken is hiding out in a rented loft in the Harbor. Enter the Harborview Lofts to confront this sinister figure.
* This is Part 4 of Harbinger of Madness.
|obj=
* Air traps on the pillars behind the western secret door; control boxes (two) are on the walls by the northern pillars. Only on Elite.
|misc=

*Recommended buffs at all times:
**Acid Resistance
**Blur or Displacement
**Greater Heroism
**Deathward
* Most of this quest involves mass numbers of Taken and Renders being thrown at you in melee fights with few surprises. Be aware that the final battle involves respawning Beholders, so it may be difficult to maintain buffs.
* Freedom of Movement does NOT block the Sticky effect.
* In the Atrium, several Taken will be on display behind glass along the walls. They may break out behind you, so listen for the sound of breaking glass and turn around. Summoned Bearded Devils can teleport behind the glass to fight them.
* You must "entertain" the patrons (Taken) of the Hall of the Absurd for 6 waves before Pyzkzyl, a Chaos Beholder, will enter the room. He does not use Anti-Magic Cone, but he CAN instant kill you with Prismatic Spay if he gets lucky, so bring him down fast!
* Yaulthoon is invulnerable to all damage so long as his visual kinetic armor buff Intellect Fortress is in place. To debuff him, stand behind the cocoons as he's doing his normal ranged attacks (white swirls); the cocoons will burst open, spawning a monster, but when enough are blasted, he'll be stunned, making him vulnerable to attack. Additionally, anyone near one of the smashed cocoons will gain HP and SP!
* Yaulthoon frequently casts Hold Monster on party members. Freedom of Movement is highly recommended for the end fight.
* Yaulthoon's ranged blast is chaotic-aligned and deals evil damage to good-aligned characters.
* Yaulthoon periodically fires multiple Mind Thrust beams that deal force damage and can be fully Will-saved against; however, this requires several successive saves.
* Note that just before the mind-thrust attack starts, 3 breakables (fleshy pods) appears next to Yaulthoon - destroy these to stun Yaulthoon and prevent the attack.
* Yaulthoon, being a Mind Flayer, has, independent of his Intellect Fortress buff, a DR of 10/Byeshk (15 on hard/elite) to overcome.
* If the entire party dies in the final room, you will be transported to the entrance. Unfortunately, you're still dead and there are no shrines near enough to get to.
* To get to the optional puzzle room, you must go through the plants on the south side of the Atrium into the water, and swim east then south (you'll turn into blank space on the map) and through a secret door. (Traps on the other side of the secret door on elite?) The door is underwater, so use a clicky/spell before entering the water if need be.
* West of the crest is another secret door. Behind the door is a pit - in the pit are chaos orbs. Y'know, those fun things that wander around Invaders! and Xorian Cipher? Fortunately, the it comes equipped with pillars to jump across. Watch out, though, on elite - there's air jet traps on top of the pillars, with two trap boxes to disable them. There's a lever on the other side that activates force platforms on top of the pillars for those with less than stellar jump scores.
* Sculpted Hound may appear behind either secret door; if so, his chest will replace the appropriate chest.
* Dead Pyxzyl is behind a door with a warning sign near the end. Take heed of the warning sign; he's extremely tough. Bring your Ghost Touch weapons.
* The Taken killed in the final room don't count towards the optional.
Lights and Wheels puzzle
* This random puzzle has a request consisting of a number of lights around a symbol and to the right of that, the number of wheels to be used. To use a wheel means to set it to the symbol.
* There are six wheels in this room, and you must ensure that exactly the specified number of wheels are set to the given symbol.
** First wheel to the right: orange - three lights
** Second wheel to the right: purple - four lights
** Third wheel to the right: blue - one light
** First wheel to the left: cyan - no lights
** Second wheel to the left: green - two lights
** Third wheel to the left: red - five lights
* The total number of lights on the used wheels need to add up to the given number of lights.
* The wheel without lights counts towards to the total number of wheels used if the selected symbol matches the requested one.

Example
In the picture you can see eight lights in total around the red shuriken symbol. To the right you see there are two wheels.
Thus you need to turn two wheels with a total value of eight lights, and set them to the red shuriken symbol (and no more, if others defaulted to the red shuriken symbol, be sure to change them to something else).

That means that in our case, turning the orange wheel with the three lights and the red wheel with the five lights to the red shuriken symbol would total eight lights. However we also have to turn the cyan wheel without lights because it was set to the red shuriken by default, and we want to exclude it from the number of wheels used. Therefore you must also change the setting (to anything else) on the wheel with no lights to complete the puzzle.
* Useful buffs:
** Acid resistance
** Electricity resistance
** Fire resistance
** Freedom of movement
** Lesser restoration potions
* As always, take out the shamans first, because they will heal the mobs.
* The elementals have a high AC, HP and high DR you cannot bypass. They are susceptible to banishing weapons though. With a combination of banishing weapons for the elementals and vorpal/paralyzing weapons for the troglodytes, the quest can be made much easier.
** While banishing weapons will no longer insta-kill the earth elementals much (they have well over 1000 hp in a group), the new Earthshatter Warhammers from The Lord of Stone quest will kill them extremely fast.
* On elite, this quest is far more difficult then most other quests at the same level. Be prepared with a powerful group and expect some very difficult fights. The earth elementals already very high armor class, DR and hit points skyrocket to near-epic levels on elite. Without the above mentioned weapons, they can take a very long time to take down.
* The vengeance seekers optional occurs if you wait around after killing the High Theurge. The DM will give a voice over telling you about a shrieking sound that is getting closer. Then the southern wall in the main chamber where the two down ramps meet will open and waves of Shamans, Warriors, and Hunter Troglodytes will appear. There is a collectible if you enter the new passage, and an extra chest will appear in the main chamber once the waves are defeated.
* The quest is pretty obvious; easiest route is just to hug left to ensure you find all the elementals. Follow your way around the various caverns, you need to clear them all to continue. Watch your spell points usage on higher difficulties: There are 5-6 shrines on normal, 4-5 shrines on hard, but there are only 3 on elite and the quest can take a very long time.
*One of only six free to play quests above Level 12, this is comparatively the easiest for the XP reward.
* Lots of spike/blades traps on the stairway to the palace; there are 4 control boxes, 2 on either side of the stairs
|misc=
* This adventure can be quite hard for the level. It is much longer than its medium length rating would suggest. That said, it can be completed very quickly: With access to invisibility and a decent jump score, you can collect 5 ballista parts in the wild, jump through the wall near NW gate, run south through the bridge, repair the ballista in the SW corner and have it fling you directly to the boss. Use the wand on the minotaur runt, kill and loot.
* Try not to laugh too much as you complete the many optionals of this quest. Slaying minotaurs is amusing until they swarm you in impressive numbers.
* You must turn at least one minotaur into stone to successfully complete the quest. Dorris will give you a 5-charge wand for this, which is usable by anyone.
* The Cabal Seers can inflict negative levels and have instant-death effects (used rarely on Normal, but often on Hard and Elite), so make sure to have Deathblock items and Death Ward available.
* The fortress is a very tight, built up area; Jump buffs make moving around MUCH easier.
* A handy tactic is to clear the small section of the fortress first, then send someone to grab aggro and lead minotaurs across the bridges. There, you can drop firewalls, Blade Barriers and other damaging spells in their path. This is also a great tactic for rangers with improved precise shot and a paralyzing bow!
* The Minotaur Runts tend to be the ones that run for the warning gongs. If you want to complete the stealthy optional, kill them quickly (or use the wand Dorris gives you on them). However, if you are going for the slayer optional chain, you will need to allow the gongs to be rung (or ring them yourself) to spawn enough minotaurs to reach the goal. Using the wand to petrify a minotaur DOES NOT count towards your kills (don't waste it on bosses!).
* After killing all the minotaurs, you need to kill at least one non-minotaur mob for the final slaying bonus. There are some worgs inside the fortress, but plenty of animals in the wilderness area outside if you haven't killed them all while gathering ballista parts. Two panthers always spawn next to Dorris after you complete the quest.
* There are more than enough parts to repair two ballistas, although only one is required to complete the optional objective. Repair a ballista outside the fortress to fling you inside, and then another ballista can be repaired inside the fort near the chieftain's compound to fling you over the wall and bypass the trapped gate.
* There is a repaired ballista inside the boss's compound that will fling you directly back to Dorris to quickly complete the quest.
* This quest is completed once you speak to Dorris after killing the chieftain and turning at least one minotaur to stone. So, you can take your time in completing any remaining optionals after killing the boss, including clearing his compound of breakables and ringing gongs (if you are going for the slaying optional) to rack up bonuses.
* If you slay every minotaur, Dorris's originally snide attitude changes humorously.

The whole purpose of this template at this time is to reduce the amount of typing need to add the bonuses to each quest; however, I am not completely happy with the variable name setup but can't think of anything better at this time without typing out the full first word.. Maybe a four character abbr of the most important word? Suggestions to my talk page please.. ShoeMaker 15:57, April 24, 2011 (EDT)

:Heh, all that typing is EXACTLY why I keep the basic stuff for XP and Collectibles on my page - just edit, highlight, copy, and then paste... and then all I hafta do is fill in the numbers. Can't think of anything to make your template easier, unless you did separate templates for sneak/kills/traps/doors/smash (or whatever). Then you could just do, say, "kills|23|28|33" or "kills|23|28" or "kills|||33" if you miss the first two. - LrdSlvrhnd 16:30, April 24, 2011 (EDT)

I was just thinking of doing something similar, but in a table format. Say 5 columns wide (200px wide each), 4 rows deep (header, 3 rows showing requirements for the bonuses), this way we don't have to deal with as much eyestrain trying to fish out the numbers from the bullet-points. The XP information is nice, but I think it adds TMI to an already cluttered page.
Here's a Table I whipped up using your variables!

The only problem I see with this concept is what if only the breakables numbers are available? Then it would be more clutter than not.... I choose to use the bullet method because that is what is currently on all of the pages that have Bonus XP counts / %s available. If all of the numbers (Or even 4/5 columns worth) then yours would probably look better.. Put your table into Template:Sandbox/Taurolyon and pick a quest with a lot of the numbers available and one with only a few numbers available and use your template. Just comment out what is currently there with <!-- Commented out stuff -->. Then post a couple links on this talk page so everyone can look at at and see how it looks. ==Epic XP==
Since there's apparently Epic XP, you might want to add that in for the popup bit. And thanks for making the exact XP amounts as a popup rather than always on the page, I think it looks a LOT nicer like that. -LrdSlvrhnd 00:54, May 13, 2011 (EDT)
Template looks bad after navbar switch
Since the navbar got moved to the right, and template popups always sort to the right.. They kinda make a huge mess on my screen now and look really unprofessional.
I mean if I mouse over anything on the far right of the screen - the tooltip appears off the screen, and my browsers horizontal browse bar appears, but I cant move it right because unmousing over removes the tooltip obviouisly.

Doesn't only apply to the new xp template, really any popups on the right get cutoff and look poor. Tho the xp template is always bad, since the elite/epic xp mouse over never appears.

Not sure this happens to all browsers, but i get it on firefox 4 and chrome. Can do a screenshot if your not sure what I mean. Tho I think everyone gets it.
Not sure you guys can fix it or not... Ideally the tooltip would appear on the left, or the navbar goes back. Shade 08:57, May 13, 2011 (EDT)
{{post|1|ShoeMaker 09:23, May 13, 2011 (EDT)|To be honest I would like to see the navbar go back, as would most of the 'regulars' it seems. However, it seems no one knows how it moved, or how to get it back.. I hadn't added it to my list of things to do yet, but I intend on doing a little more research on how to make the popup tooltip a little more dynamic so that it is not only sized based on the number of characters (Failed first attempt, not giving up..), but also so that if the popup gets within a certain distance of the edge of the screen it either walls so it doesn't run off the edge or flips from so that it starts at the mouse going right instead of left.
Figured out how to get navbar back to the right
Looks like it's just a new default userskin.
So just head to your preferences, and switch it back to "Truglass" to get the navbar back on the right. Truglass2 is the new default, which has it on the left. -Shade 18:26, May 17, 2011 (EDT)
Doesn't work without XP piped in at the end
Noticed you editing lots of quests to use this template..

Yet you didn't pipe in the XP at the end, so it just pops up "no experience available" which looks rather bad as its a giant million width popup.

Is it meant to work without piping in the xp by parsing the quest template? Cuz that doesn't work..
Actually even your example shows that problem, the one missing the xp at the end. --Shade 05:59, June 17, 2011 (EDT)
My question/point was just about how we should use the template, and what wording fits best: If I get a devious bonus with 14 kills, does it make more sense to set n14, or n15?
Recall is an instant teleportation method available during a quest or while outside in a wilderness adventure area. It is performed via the "Recall" button on the quest objectives window.

While in a quest, you can recall and exit prematurely, without having to return to the entrance, by clicking the recall button. Once all mandatory quest objectives are met, and the quest XP is "locked in", the button will change to read "Finish"; hence the phrase "finish out", or "FO".

Recalling from inside a quest will take you to the entrance of that quest, whether that be in a wilderness or public zone. For quests whose entrances are within other quests, recalling will take you to the outermost quest entrance (though re-entry usually takes you directly to the further-in quest instance in such cases).

While in a wilderness area, recalling will teleport you to the most recently visited public area. For example, entering the Ataraxia's Haven wilderness zone from the House Deneith enclave will mean that recalling will send you back to the House Deneith port agent, provided that you have not entered the local spa in the meantime.

Teleport and similar spells allow a player to freely leave any quest or wilderness zone without having to recall.

On death, the recall button changes to "Release", and will resurrect your character at your bind point.

Leaving a quest prematurely will confer a penalty to the XP awarded for completion, should you re-enter that quest instance.

Overview
Ataraxia's Haven is a level 10 Wilderness Adventure Area that can be accessed by talking to Port Agents found at The Harbor and at House Kundarak. The House Deneith Port Agent can take you to Ataraxia's Haven, but you cannot return to House Deneith directly from Ataraxia's Haven unless it is the last public zone you visited (so a recall will take you there).

Characters need to be at least level 7 to gain access.

It allows level 7 to 14 characters full XP reward points for the Rare Encounters, Slayer and Explorer quests.

It has a Tavern, the Resort Spa, that has a Spirit Binder, Banker and Mail, a Pawnshop (always Vendor with Reputation Quest rate, not full Broker rate), a General Vendor and a Barkeep.

Although in general a typical balanced team can defeat any quest of the appropriate level, certain quests have a special requirement for completion. Sometimes that requirement is absolute and unavoidable, while other times there are challenging and dangerous workarounds. Additionally, it is much more common that a quest have a special requirement for optional challenges and rewards.

In all cases, when an ability score is required, it can be achieved with temporary buff effects (note that even with +6 items, Strength can be increased a further 2 points with the Rage spell/potion, and 2 more with the Madstone Rage.)

Note that most of doors in game that require strength to bash them down can also be destroyed by Fireball and such spells. Carrying those spells/wands might be a good idea for a low-strength character.

::There is no way that I am aware of to call the information from another page or part of the main Template:quest or Template:xpcolors templates... That is until I go over and rebuild Template:quest, which will not be until I have completed Template:Named Item, and I am satisfied with it's performance. * Four fire traps from statues at the end fight; control boxes (4) are on either side of the door, and up the stairs to either side of the platform. The control boxes cannot be found with Search until the War Captain enables the traps (when he's roughly at 75% HP).
* This is a large open area. This walkthrough is an attempt to guide you in the direction you need to take.
* Many mobs do additional elemental damage. Useful resists are acid (against Melf's Acid Arrow), cold, electricity and fire (against their arrows and fire walls).
* There are 2 shrines and an additional one at the entrance to the Vinethrasher Clan (Norm/Hard).
* Speak with Henritta Daes. She tells you to go SW. There's a path to the NW but it doesn't go anywhere. Head out to the east to get to your destination, killing scorpions, panthers and wildmen as you go.
** If you avoid the sandy areas, the scorpions won't sense your presence. One way to do so is to hug the northern wall.
* Smash the root walls when you get to them. Kill the jungle panthers and the wildmen that spawn once you're near the shrine and gong. Loot the chest. Ringing the gong does nothing.
* Head south and west. At the path intersection, head north. Assemble the whole party at Ullevian, and talk to him.
* Go back north and east; take on the Droaam soldiers. Head north for the wildmen shrine, then east and south to get back to the main path.
* Loop back around to the north and west, killing Droaam parties along the way or evading them with invisibility. Talk to Henritta.
** Note: If you Parley with the wildmen (see below), you can get to Henritta and back more directly, avoiding the Droaam patrols.
* Loop back around east and south, to the southern passage. Assemble the party at the root wall, at which point you can smash it to proceed. Keep heading south, killing Droaam troops that appear.
* When your approach the War Captain's door, he'll order the Droaam troops to stand down. After breaking down the last root wall, one player can rush ahead using invisibility to the door. The path will then be clear for the other players.
* Once you get to the War Captain's door, get ready for the end fight. There are four fire traps to be disabled through the door, but the boxes cannot be located until Ilos Hrolk (the War Captain) triggers them (when he's roughly at 75% HP).
* Speak to Ilos Hrolk. He'll try to recruit you; sadly, you can't accept his offer. Buff up and start the fight!
** If you kill the guards first, you can get an additional end chest and possibly XP (Hard/Elite only). Don't forget the ones outside the gate.
* Needleclaw may appear either northwest of the first shrine or to the southwest (after circling around south, past the Panther Den).
* Bashevis may appear either in the Panther Den (south of the first shrine) or among rocks to the southwest (again, after circling around south).
* The angered Vinethrasher horde will appear near a large pond north of the second shrine. You can get there by either going west from the Panther Den (through the root wall), and then north past the shrine, or north from the root wall and then west. Either way, you'll have to loop east-south-north to get back to the shrine.
* To Parlay: go south from the second shrine, and then west across the bridge. Convince the gate-keeper to let you into the village (just keep talking if you can't Diplo/Intimidate). Talk to Zharig the Vinethrasher.
** Diplomacy: Zharig will let you through peacefully (0 succeeded on Normal). This won't let you fight the champion or eliminate the tribe.
** Intimidate: You can fight the entire tribe for bonus XP & a chest.
** Simply talking without using diplomacy or intimidate allows you to fight just the champion Kukennama for bonus XP & a chest.
The name of a character is its main identifier. It's used in features like myDDO, friend list, in-game email and so on. It has to be unique within the context of a given game server.

* The name must follow Turbine Character Naming Policy. The policy enforces usual obvious rules (no profanity, etc.) but also exclude names related to in-game content and NPC.

* Since Turbine never deletes any character (no matter how out-of-date they can be) the number of locked names rises with time. Finding a name when creating a new character might be tricky, so prepare several alternatives.

* It's possible to use myDDO search feature to search for a given character name. Obviously, finding something means the name is currently in use.
** The search feature will will not reveal deleted characters, so finding nothing in myDDO is no guarantee that the name searched for is really pristine.

* If you choose a name already in use at character creation, the game system will tell you and prompt you for another.
** However, the game system will let you use the name of a deleted character.
** This is the source of many issues with myDDO, where old characters (even deleted) get in the way of newer ones.

* Character name can be changed after creation with a Name Change Parchment item purchased through the DDO Store.
** Check for name change result in chat General tab.
** The name change is quick but not instantaneous. There's no need to log out to have the change take effect.
** If failing to rename the character for any reason, the Name Change Parchment item is not destroyed from inventory. It can be used again and again until an available character name is found.
** Only pristine character names can be considered, so the naming is stricter than upon character creation. Choosing a name that has been already in use for any reason, even if the character bearing it has been deleted, will lead to an error:
Alteration of character builds should be done through reincarnation. If you want to try out a few things, however, you can use a dummy character name and reuse it as often as you want. Just don't use this name for any "serious" character you plan to play for a long time, or want to use myDDO feature on.

Surname
A character may have a family name or a surname. This surname can be a short character sequence of several words (like "the great"). The surname need not be unique, and has no in-game effect of any kind.
