Heya, Peerless. Yes, it's been a while since I've been around - a year! I can't believe it's been that long. Work got crazy enough last year that during my ddowiki hiatus, I stopped playing DDO. As such, there wasn't time (or point, really) for doing stuff here. I've even switched jobs since then. I hope everyone's doing well (''*waves to Tihocan and Peerless*''), and I'm really glad that the site is still going strong. [[User:Dedridd|Dedridd]] 11:34, April 10, 2007 (EDT)
:Same here. Haven't really been around much, trying to learn to write Ruby code, trying to get back into college, fiddling with my crazy computer system, etc... yeah, EnterWiki's taken a waaaaay back burner. [[User:Peerless|Mr. Cable]] 00:22, April 23, 2007 (EDT)
::No kidding, Ruby? I've been in possession of a Ruby on Rails book for several weeks now, but haven't found time to crack it open yet. I work with a guy who is into the Ruby scene (as in gives presentations at the Ruby conferences), and the short forms of some of them he's given me over lunch have really piqued my interest. You'll have to let me know how it goes for you and how you like it over on my talk page sometime. :) Until then, good luck with all those endeavors. --[[User:Dedridd|Dedridd]] 08:49, April 24, 2007 (EDT)
Dedriddhttps://ddowiki.com/index.php?title=User_talk:Dedridd&diff=25328User talk:Dedridd2007-04-10T15:35:38Z
Dedridd:

Heya - it's been a while since you contributed, and since you were one of our top contributors, I wanted to see if I could convince you to do so again (-: Just checkin in to see what's up, gimmie a ping some time (-: {{:User:Peerless/sig}} 13:44, January 5, 2007 (EST)

:'''ping!''' Yes, it's been a while - a year! - [[User:Dedridd|Dedridd]] 16:42, April 9, 2007 (EDT)
Dedriddhttps://ddowiki.com/index.php?title=Armor_enchantment_summary&diff=13358Armor enchantment summary2006-04-20T18:14:06Z
Dedridd: /* Magic Armor Special Abilities */ removed duplicate entry, and added a wiki link

There are many different enhancements that any base armor type (see [[:Category:Light armor|light armor]], [[:Category:Medium armor|medium armor]], or [[:Category:Heavy armor|heavy armor]]) can be found with. The properties can be categorized into several groups. While a piece of magical armor can have properties from one or more of these groups, it will never have more than one property from the same group.

==Masterwork==
A masterwork piece of armor is not technically magical, just an high-quality item. Because it was made with such skill, it isn't as cumbersome, reducing the [[Armor Check Penalty]] by 1.

==Material Types==
*[[Mithril]] - 50% lighter, +2 max dex, -3 armor check penalty, -10% Arcane Spell Failure chance, and armor is one category lighter for proficiency purposes.
*[[Adamantine]] - more durable, extra damage reduction, penetrates damage reduction (rarely useful on armor)
*[[Darkwood]] - non-metal, immune to Rust Monsters, yet harder than wood.
*[[Flametouched Iron]] - +2 saves versus Evil Outsiders.

==Magic Armor Enhancement bonuses==
In general, magic armor protects the wearer to a greater extent than nonmagical armor. Magic armor grants an armor [[enhancement bonus]] to [[armor class]] ranging from +1 to +5. Armor [[enhancement bonus]]es stack with regular [[armor bonus]]es (and with [[:Category:Shields|shield]] and magic [[:Category:Shields|shield]] [[enhancement bonus]]es). All magic armor is also [[masterwork]] armor.

==Magic Armor Special Abilities==
In addition to an [[enhancement bonus]], armor may have [[special abilities]]. Special abilities usually count as additional bonuses for determining the market value of an item, but do not improve [[AC]]. A suit of armor cannot have an effective bonus (enhancement plus special ability bonus equivalents) higher than +10. A suit of armor with a special ability must have at least a +1 enhancement bonus.
*[[Spell Resistance]] - casters rolls a d20 + caster level vs resistance to affect you.
*[[Elemental Resistance]] - confers resistance to one given elemental damage, either [[Fire]], [[Cold]], [[Acid]], [[Electricity]], or [[Sonic]].
*[[Hammerblock]] - confers 5 points of [[Damage reduction|damage reduction]] to bludgeoning attacks, 2 points for the Lesser version.
*[[Axeblock]] - confers 5 points of [[Damage reduction|damage reduction]] to slashing attacks, 3 points for the Lesser version.
*[[Spearblock]] - confers 5 points of [[Damage reduction|damage reduction]] to piercing attacks, 2 points for the Lesser version.
*[[Fortification]] - confers a chance to negate extra damage from sneak attacks or critical hits.
*[[Stability]] - Grants the wearer +2 AC and +2 to all saving throws if they are true neutral alignment.
*[[Invulnerablity]] - confers 5 points of [[Damage reduction|damage reduction]] to all attacks except magic, 2 points for the Lesser version.
*[[Twilight]] - reduces the [[Arcane Spell Failure]] chance for the armor by 10%.
*[[Resistance (special ability) |Resistance]] - provides a bonus on all [[Saving throw]]s, from +1 to +4.
*[[of Command]] - increases all [[Charisma]] based passive [[Skills]] (e.g. [[Haggle]], [[Use Magic Device]]) checks by +2. This does not affect things like [[Paladin]] auras or [[Sorcerer]] casting.
A creature struck by this ray of light takes 1d8 points of damage per two caster levels (maximum 5d8). An undead creature takes 1d6 points of damage per caster level (maximum 10d6), and an undead creature particularly vulnerable to bright light takes 1d8 points of damage per caster level (maximum 10d8).
NB: the turn undead class feat is common with the cleric (=> need to synchronize updates) -- [[User:Tihocan|Tihocan]] 06:45, January 16, 2006 (PST)
:I've noticed that the Turn Undead wiki page seems to only refer to Clerics' abilities, such as being able to replenish spell points, when in fact Paladin's have this feat as well, but not with that added bonus. : [[User:Ardan|Ardan]] 10:47, March 2, 2006 (EST)
::True, see the talk page you started at [[Talk:Turn Undead]] [[User:Tihocan|Tihocan]] 11:08, March 2, 2006 (EST)

In regards to: "This feat allows the character to turn or at higher levels destroy undead creatures. The character can do this (3 + their charisma modifier) times per day." for Turn Undead; I need to confirm the number of times per day a Paladin can use this, because 3 + CHA modifyer would mean that I would have 7 uses of this at level 5, with my +4 mdifier, and I think I only have 5. Will leave it for now until I get a chance to check, but if somebody can confirm before me, that would be great too: [[User:Ardan|Ardan]] 10:47, March 2, 2006 (EST)
:Sure, this should be confirmed for Paladins. [[User:Tihocan|Tihocan]] 11:08, March 2, 2006 (EST)
==BAB==
Is the third attack at level 5 really double the BAB of the first two attacks? I thought it started out at +1 and then progressed upward by 1 for each level, but always much lower than the other initial swing(s)? This certainly could be correct, I'm just asking for a double-check to make sure it's not a typo. [[User:Dedridd|Dedridd]] 10:38, April 11, 2006 (EDT)
:It's not double the BAB, the third attack (in DDO) gets a +5 bonus. I suppose it's to reward someone for standing around attacking rather than running around or something [[User:Sonil|Sonil]] 12:56, April 11, 2006 (EDT)
:See [[Talk:Fighter]]. I would appreciate an ingame double-check though. [[User:Tihocan|Tihocan]] 13:05, April 11, 2006 (EDT)
::Yeah, you're right, Sonil, it's not double. I was focusing on just the level 5 entry and oversimplified my observation. And yes, I will test this out for ya'll tonight, as my paladin just hit level 5 last night and got the 3rd attack. I'll check my bonuses on my rolls when in combat tonight.

Is the third attack at level 5 really double the BAB of the first two attacks? Lets get a community going here, people! Where are you from? Just keep replies on the same indent for stuff like this, as you're all technically replying to me (-: {{:User:Peerless/Sig1| 20:55, March 14, 2006 (EST)}}
==New stuff==
Ok, I've had about half these features live on my local wiki for a while, been trying to get them all ready before presentation. The last hangup has been the verification system - it works fine locally, but I can't make it integrate properly into the slightly strange site substitution we use here on the actual network. Anyway, I gave up for now, and just brought most everything I had live. My personal favorite isn't even listed on the front page there - see the bottom of any page for the new contribution attributions - once google crawls our site again, try googling your real name. More interesting results than usual, no? Anyway, another really cool one is the AJAX preview - try it when your replying to this post hehe. The rest are still too cool for words, which is why I am going to stop typing said words, press that awesome preview button just so I can see it in action one more time before bed, and go there. {{:User:Peerless/Sig1| 04:02, March 18, 2006 (EST)}}

:To be honest, I don't understand half of what you're talking about. But it sounds great :D [[User:Tihocan|Tihocan]] 14:58, March 20, 2006 (EST)

::You'll see as time goes on - I am most proud of the AJAX previewing - just reply to this and hit ''''Show preview'''' instead of ''''Save page'''' - you'll see immediately what I mean. {{:User:Peerless/Sig1| 16:59, March 20, 2006 (EST)

:::Aaah, I think I see now. Actually, I had not noticed it immediately, my bad. Preview seems instant now. Cool :) [[User:Tihocan|Tihocan]] 11:10, March 21, 2006 (EST)

:Peerless, I think the contributions thing is an interesting idea, but I prefer to keep my gaming persona separate from my real life, and therefore prefer anonymity. Based on the amount of anonymous edits we get here, I don't think I'm alone in this (granted there's other reasons why folks might not register here before editing). What would you think about using account names (but not anonymous IP addresses) if the real name info is blank? [[User:Dedridd|Dedridd]] 15:21, March 20, 2006 (EST)

::Yes, that is how it works. Just delete the Real Name field in the preferences to show username instead. I am suprised, however - do you not want attribution for your hard work and contributions? I sure do (-: {{:User:Peerless/Sig1| 16:59, March 20, 2006 (EST)}}

:::Sure - game stuff under my gaming persona, and work stuff under my professional persona. [[User:Dedridd|Dedridd]] 08:52, March 21, 2006 (EST)
::::I meant under your real name lol - whatever, up to you, thanks to being able to switch it off (-: {{:User:Peerless/Sig1| 16:03, March 21, 2006 (EST)}}

:Unfortunately because of the AJAX previewing, you can't use 'Show preview' to test that the categories are set up right on a page before saving. Is there a way around this? I'm sure it's a side-effect of not posting back to show the changes in the preview, since the category entries seem to be a parsing thing in the wiki codebase, but this may lead to a lot more revisions of each page to get the categories right - or people may not even notice that they got them wrong. I can't think of a good middle-ground to suggest at this point, but I'm hoping you'll have an idea of how to get around this. [[User:Dedridd|Dedridd]] 09:18, March 21, 2006 (EST)

::Well, for now you can switch off javascript to do it... hmmm I'll need to think on this. What exactly isn't showing up right? If you mean the box showing what categories the page is in; that should be - wow your right it doesn't show up. Weird. I guess I didn't expect anybody to need to preview that - if you put it in category A, then it's in category A... I'm confused how that could be hard; but I'll work on integrating it. It may be really hard, as I already wrapped up the entire AJAX preview work and integrated it... {{:User:Peerless/Sig1| 16:03, March 21, 2006 (EST)}}

:::For people familiar with our naming conventions, they'll probably get the category name correct on the first try. Those that aren't might use a singular form of a page name, however. And while a simple typo or misspelling (such as [[:Category:Guild]]) won't keep it from showing up in the category box, if it is marked as a non-existing page, then you know you probably messed up the category link somehow. I've found this very helpful when categorizing pages. [[User:Dedridd|Dedridd]] 16:18, March 21, 2006 (EST)
==Advertising tone==
As you probably know, there are some people out there who do not like much the Wiki. The main reason being because of the potentially wrong information that can be found here. If we want to convince more people to come visit us, we must advertise it. However, I also think we must do so without sounding too pretentious, since we know very well that the Wiki is not perfect. I sincerely think that a post like [http://www.ddo.com/forums/showpost.php?p=166702&postcount=5 this one] does more harm than good to the Wiki: it makes us sound like we think everyone else is cr*p. I find the signature to be a bit too much too. Any thoughts on this matter? [[User:Tihocan|Tihocan]] 10:28, March 23, 2006 (EST)
:I am far from having a tongue of silver - so, if you like, you can post for us lol - I barely have time to any; just tying to GET THE NAME OUT THERE. I post there, and am STILL surprised by people who don't know about the site - it's like OMG. How is that possible? But I guess we aren't as all-known as I think we are - good god though, 10,000 hits MINIMUM every day? Wow. Anyway - tihocan, get on MSN and I'll drop you the password to the EnterWiki admin account. {{:User:Peerless/Sig1| 14:49, March 23, 2006 (EST)}}
::No no, I'm not really a good advertiser, I think it's good that you're on the forums too to advertise the site. It's just that I think you should be careful, when posting, to stay humble in order not to hurt other people's feelings. Even though I haven't reallly checked out the other fansites yet, I do believe we are the best in the kind of information we offer, but if you post on the forums saying "we are the best website", you can be sure some people are not even going to bother because that sounds like someone desperate to get some visitors. [[User:Tihocan|Tihocan]] 15:38, March 23, 2006 (EST)
:::I seriously have no idea what I'm doing - I am the worst community advocate in the world. ==Images==
I finally fixed the image system. Currently, you can upload DDO-specific images at [[Special:Upload]], and global images at [[img:Special:Upload|Special:Upload]] - in the process, I found two stranded iamges. Anybody know who these belong to? [[:Image:ScreenShot00001.jpg]], [[:Image:Equipment_slots.jpg]]? Also, if anything breaks or seems weird PLEASE let me know - if I have to change something on this system, it is TONS of work, exponentially more for practically every image that is uploaded. {{:User:Peerless/Sig1| 14:47, March 23, 2006 (EST)}}

:The second one, Equipment_slots.jpg is mine, and it's used on the [[Slot]] page. I had to re-upload it after the server move, so maybe it's the older version? Not sure, but when I follow your image link it all works and Slot is listed at the bottom of the page as a 'used by' link. No clue about the first image. [[User:Dedridd|Dedridd]] 15:06, March 23, 2006 (EST)
:::::Will such an operation update the history for the page? I've tried to do this before to get categories to update, but it looked like the system wasn't really re-saving the page, and I figured it was because I didn't make any changes. [[User:Dedridd|Dedridd]] 08:36, March 24, 2006 (EST)

::::::Just add like 5 returns at the bottom of the page - it'll strip them out before saving, but it will register a change and save the page as a new oldid. {{:User:Peerless/Sig1| 16:22, March 24, 2006 (EST)}}

==Search is broken==
Search is now directly redirecting you to the article or edit page of what you were searching, instead of displaying the search results. [[User:Tihocan|Tihocan]] 10:14, March 23, 2006 (EST)

:Search always took you to a page if it found an exact match to your search critieria. But if there's only a partial match, you're right - it's now going to an edit page based on what was typed in, instead of giving the results of partial matches, like it used to. Should this go on the [[Enter:Bug reports|bug reports]] page? I'm not sure which gets better visibility. [[User:Dedridd|Dedridd]] 10:21, March 23, 2006 (EST)

::Oooh, there is a bug report page? Cool! There is also this problem with editing sections, which I mentioned somewhere else. /me invokes the Wiki gods. [[User:Tihocan|Tihocan]] 10:52, March 23, 2006 (EST)

:::Yeah, there's a bug report page, and there's actually a link to it near the top of the home page. However, you've got me wondering how many other people don't see it there besides you. Could that be a good candidate for the Reader's links section of the sidebar, perhaps, so it's always visible? [[User:Dedridd|Dedridd]] 11:05, March 23, 2006 (EST)

::::Well, the reason is probably that I just don't (almost) don't visit the home page anymore. Should be in the [[FAQ]] at least, I'd say. Not sure if it's worth a permanent link, since most bugs will probably be spotted by one of the editors. [[User:Tihocan|Tihocan]] 11:17, March 23, 2006 (EST)

:::::Makes sense, and I agree with your logic. [[User:Dedridd|Dedridd]] 12:45, March 23, 2006 (EST)

::::::You can't invoke the wiki gods tihocan - you are the friggin wiki god. Anyway, fixed the section edit titles, and the search &go=Go format change was intentional - just haven't gotten around to adding a second box to the skin. I'll try and get around to doing that now. {{:User:Peerless/Sig1| 15:04, March 23, 2006 (EST)}}

:::::::I can. See, it worked! ;p Thanks! [[User:Tihocan|Tihocan]] 15:41, March 23, 2006 (EST)

:::::::Can you please change back the search to what it was before? Two reasons for that: (1) users who search something and get to an edit box witll fill the edit box with their question (just happened twice recently) instead of getting to a page that may contain what they are looking for, and (2) for instance I was looking for "command" to see if we had somewhere a robe of command, but command is also a spell, so I was sent to the page for the command spell, which I was not interested in (even though I suspect a robe of command just casts command, but anyway). I think the old search is much better as it is the behavior people expect. The "Go" behavior will be mainly used by editors who know where they want to go. It could even go to the editor's links as far as I'm concerned. [[User:Tihocan|Tihocan]] 13:47, March 24, 2006 (EST)

::::::::I'm working on it... just too many things going on, and I keep forgetting to finish any given one! {{:User:Peerless/Sig1| 14:12, March 24, 2006 (EST)}}

:::::::::lol, that's why I'm reminding you ;p [[User:Tihocan|Tihocan]] 15:35, March 24, 2006 (EST)

:::::::::Think that's fixed. Why not separate the functionality? On a side note, moving this somewhere more relevant. {{:User:Peerless/Sig1| 16:18, March 24, 2006 (EST)}}

:(re-starting the indents, pretend this is over there -->)
I'm confused, they seem to do the same thing for me. Maybe it's the medicine I'm taking... ;) [[User:Dedridd|Dedridd]] 16:46, March 24, 2006 (EST)

::Now, if a page matches your search, you get directly to it ("Go" behavior), but if it does not, a normal search page appears. This is already much better. I still think that it should always be the search page by default. For instance if I search "Command", I might be looking for the [[Command]] spell, but also the "of command" item enhancement, or a list of commands in the game. Ideally all three would be on the search page, while the current "Go" behavior will only send me to the Command spell. [[User:Tihocan|Tihocan]] 14:29, March 27, 2006 (EST)

:::I actually disagree on this one, from a personal standpoint. That means you always have to deal with a search page, even if you know exactly what you're looking for. Arguably, only us few editors or regular contributors remember exact page titles, or techno geeks. I thought it was rather nifty that the search could do both things depending on if it got an exact match. However, in the interest of the casual users that visit our site, I agree that a more straightforward and singular behavior would be more beneficial (dangit, I hate giving up nifty features because they're hard to explain to new users, but I do it every day). *Collectibles (items with gold borders) can be turned in for various prizes at NPC's around Stormreach. When you examine one of these collectible items, it'll have the name of the NPC looking for them but not how many they need of that item before they'll trade you. In the list below, the Quantity column will tell you that detail. Generally, those that require the most number of items are common and give the least valuable rewards, and those that require the fewest are rare and give the most valuable reward.
==New stuff==
Ok, I've had about half these features live on my local wiki for a while, been trying to get them all ready before presentation. The last hangup has been the verification system - it works fine locally, but I can't make it integrate properly into the slightly strange site substitution we use here on the actual network. Anyway, I gave up for now, and just brought most everything I had live. My personal favorite isn't even listed on the front page there - see the bottom of any page for the new contribution attributions - once google crawls our site again, try googling your real name. More interesting results than usual, no? Anyway, another really cool one is the AJAX preview - try it when your replying to this post hehe. The rest are still too cool for words, which is why I am going to stop typing said words, press that awesome preview button just so I can see it in action one more time before bed, and go there. {{:User:Peerless/Sig1| 04:02, March 18, 2006 (EST)}}

::Yes, that is how it works. Just delete the Real Name field in the preferences to show username instead. I am suprised, however - do you not want attribution for your hard work and contributions? I sure do (-: {{:User:Peerless/Sig1| 16:59, March 20, 2006 (EST)}}

:::Sure - game stuff under my gaming persona, and work stuff under my professional persona. [[User:Dedridd|Dedridd]] 08:52, March 21, 2006 (EST)
::::I meant under your real name lol - whatever, up to you, thanks to being able to switch it off (-: {{:User:Peerless/Sig1| 16:03, March 21, 2006 (EST)}}

::Well, for now you can switch off javascript to do it... hmmm I'll need to think on this. What exactly isn't showing up right? If you mean the box showing what categories the page is in; that should be - wow your right it doesn't show up. Weird. I guess I didn't expect anybody to need to preview that - if you put it in category A, then it's in category A... I'm confused how that could be hard; but I'll work on integrating it. It may be really hard, as I already wrapped up the entire AJAX preview work and integrated it... {{:User:Peerless/Sig1| 16:03, March 21, 2006 (EST)}}

::::I see... d***it I have too many projects going. I need a tech team to yell at and throw projects to!!! This is driving me crazy. {{:User:Peerless/Sig1| 04:26, March 22, 2006 (EST)}}

:::::I don't think it's a high priority problem, but I wanted to make you aware of it. [[User:Dedridd|Dedridd]] 08:20, March 22, 2006 (EST)

==Advertising tone==
:I am far from having a tongue of silver - so, if you like, you can post for us lol - I barely have time to any; just tying to GET THE NAME OUT THERE. I post there, and am STILL surprised by people who don't know about the site - it's like OMG. How is that possible? But I guess we aren't as all-known as I think we are - good god though, 10,000 hits MINIMUM every day? Wow. Anyway - tihocan, get on MSN and I'll drop you the password to the EnterWiki admin account. {{:User:Peerless/Sig1| 14:49, March 23, 2006 (EST)}}
:::I seriously have no idea what I'm doing - I am the worst community advocate in the world. Really, with xevo running the server and me doing backend and wiki administration, we need to hire somebody to be a community advocate for the wiki(s). Or get somebody interested, so we don't have to pay them! (-: {{:User:Peerless/Sig1| 16:23, March 24, 2006 (EST)}}

==Images==
I finally fixed the image system. Currently, you can upload DDO-specific images at [[Special:Upload]], and global images at [[img:Special:Upload|Special:Upload]] - in the process, I found two stranded iamges. Anybody know who these belong to? [[:Image:ScreenShot00001.jpg]], [[:Image:Equipment_slots.jpg]]? Also, if anything breaks or seems weird PLEASE let me know - if I have to change something on this system, it is TONS of work, exponentially more for practically every image that is uploaded. {{:User:Peerless/Sig1| 14:47, March 23, 2006 (EST)}}

:Don't know about these images. But images on the [[Classes]] page seem to be broken (to me at least). [[User:Tihocan|Tihocan]] 15:32, March 23, 2006 (EST)
::::::Just add like 5 returns at the bottom of the page - it'll strip them out before saving, but it will register a change and save the page as a new oldid. {{:User:Peerless/Sig1| 16:22, March 24, 2006 (EST)}}

==Search is broken==

::::::You can't invoke the wiki gods tihocan - you are the friggin wiki god. Anyway, fixed the section edit titles, and the search &go=Go format change was intentional - just haven't gotten around to adding a second box to the skin. I'll try and get around to doing that now. {{:User:Peerless/Sig1| 15:04, March 23, 2006 (EST)}}

:::::::I can. See, it worked! ;p Thanks! [[User:Tihocan|Tihocan]] 15:41, March 23, 2006 (EST)

::::::::I'm working on it... just too many things going on, and I keep forgetting to finish any given one! {{:User:Peerless/Sig1| 14:12, March 24, 2006 (EST)}}

==Template==
I templatized this page because, while wanting to put the data in a table so that the quantity and rewards data stood out better, I didn't want to overwhelm the casual editor with the syntax of doing a table by hand. Hopefully this doesn't cause any problems, but if so, it can always be reverted back to the previous version. [[User:Dedridd|Dedridd]] 13:35, February 1, 2006 (PST)

:Wow, didnt even know this stuff had a table, thought it was all random. Will have to keep an eye out for what i get in the stress test. [[User:Big Gino|Big Gino]] 10:52, February 7, 2006 (PST)

::Actually, it has a more specific table then even what's placed here. I've found that when it's listed as something like "Spell Level 2 Scroll", that NPC will actually have 3 or 4 specific level 2 scrolls, not just any. Same for potions & wands. The +1 Armor w/ Effect entries seem to be the most random. [[User:DarB|darB]] 11:35, February 7, 2006 (PST)

:::That's good to know. I'll put in updates with some of the specific items I get, and see if we can end up gathering a more detailed list for the potions, scrolls, and "w/ effect" items. [[User:Dedridd|Dedridd]] 11:39, February 7, 2006 (PST)

::::After noticing this pattern I started making notes of specifics. I'll add in what I know. Oh, and I *believe* that when a collector rewards both scroll/wand for his 3/2 rewards they are from the same small set of spells, but am not 100% certain. We need a printer-friendly version of this page. Most people want to print it to have it available when they play. Peer, I remember you saying somwehere that you had something in the work? [[User:Tihocan|Tihocan]] 15:01, March 23, 2006 (EST)

::Here it is! :) I'm afraid noone is going to print that though, much too many pages. Maybe we should try to write a condensed version, that can be easily printed on a couple of pages. [[User:Tihocan|Tihocan]] 15:41, March 23, 2006 (EST)

:::You write the short version, I'll make it printable. Deal?
::::Yes. Won't do it today though, I'll need to figure out exactly what's the best way to do it. [[User:Tihocan|Tihocan]] 16:33, March 23, 2006 (EST)

:::::Can we have multiple printable versions? Given the sheer number of collectibles, many people are only interested in a condensed list of the rare collectibles, so they know what to keep and what to destroy.
[[Feat]]s are special abilities that give your character a new capability, or improves one he or she already has.

Each Character gets one feat upon creation. At 3rd level, and every 3 levels after that (6th, 9th...) he or she gains another feat. [[Human]]s get one additional feat upon creation. The [[fighter]] class gets a bonus feat on top of that every 2 levels of fighter, but must choose from a more limited list of [[:Category:Fighter_bonus_feats |combat-oriented feats]].

Free Active Feats are provided to any character that meets the requirements, and represent things most people can try (but not necessarily with much success).

=Feats list=
==[[Free Active Feat]]s==
*[[Attack]]: This is the standard attack for all characters. It can be toggled on to attack repeatedly, or activated once by right-clicking the mouse.
*[[Defensive Fighting]] (requires [[base attack bonus]] of +1): This [[feat]] reduces the character's to-hit by 4 but adds 2 to their [[Armor Class]]. Casting a spell ends this mode.
*[[Sneak]]: The character becomes invisible to all enemies that fail a [[Spot]] and [[Listen]] [[skill]] check, opposed by [[Hide]] and [[Move Silently]] skills.
*[[Sunder]] (20 second cooldown, requires [[base attack bonus]] of +1 or higher, obtained only by some of the classes): This [[feat]] has a chance to reduce the target's [[Armor Class]] for a short time. Some creatures may be immune to the [[sunder]] effect. Fighters, barbarians, paladins, and rangers receive this feat for free.
*[[Trip]] (15 second cooldown, requires [[base attack bonus]] of +1, and some unconfirmed class requirements): This [[feat]] has a chance to [[trip]] the target rendering it prone for a short time. Some creatures may be immune to this effect. Creatures larger or stronger than you are less likely to trip. Some weapons, like a [[sickle]], supposedly provide a bonus to [[Trip]] attempts.

==[[Active feat]]s==
*[[Cleave]] (5 second cooldown, requires [[Power Attack]]): Activate this ability to attack one or more enemies in an arc in front of you. [[Cleave]] has a better chance to hit more enemies at once than a basic attack.
*[[Combat Expertise]] (requires [[Intelligence]] 13+): This [[feat]] subtracts 5 from the characters to-hit roll, and increases its [[Armor Class]] by 5. Casting a spell ends this mode.
*[[Great Cleave]] (10 second cooldown, requires [[Cleave]], [[base attack bonus]] of +4 or higher): This [[feat]] attacks enemies in a wider arc than [[Cleave]]. [[Great Cleave]] has a greater chance to hit more enemies than [[Cleave]].
*[[Hamstring]] (15 second cooldown, requires [[Sneak Attack]]): [[Hamstring]] has a chance to reduce the target's movement rate for a short time. Some creatures may be immune to the hamstring effect.
*[[Improved Feint]] (8 second cooldown, requires [[Combat Expertise]], [[Sneak Attack]]): An attack which also [[Bluff]]s the enemy, enabling a [[sneak attack]].
*[[Improved Sunder]] (15 second cooldown, requires [[Sunder]], [[Power Attack]]): This [[feat]] has a chance to reduce the target's [[Armor Class]] for a longer period of time than [[Sunder]]. Some creatures may be immune to the [[Sunder]] effect.
*[[Improved Trip]] (10 second cooldown, requires [[Combat Expertise]]): This [[feat]] has a chance to [[trip]] the target, rendering it prone for a longer period of time than [[Trip]]. Some creatures may be immune to this effect.
*[[Manyshot]] (20 second duration, 2 minute cooldown, requires [[Dexterity]] 17+, [[Point Blank Shot]], [[Rapid Shot]], [[base attack bonus]] of +6 or higher): This [[feat]] enables the character to fire two or more arrows at a target at -4 to hit. A third arrow can be fired when they achieve a [[base attack bonus]] of +11 and a 4th arrow at +16 to hit. Extra arrows apply a cumulative penalty of -2 to hit for each arrow fired.
*[[Power Attack]] (10 second cooldown, requires [[Strength]] 13+): Reduces your hit bonus by 5, or your [[BAB]], whichever is lower. Then your successful attacks will have their damage increased by the same amount. Two-handed weapons get twice that damage bonus, but light weapons get no bonus at all. Casting a spell ends this mode.
*[[Precision]] (30 second cooldown, requires [[Dexterity]] 13+, [[base attack bonus]] of +1 or higher): This [[feat]] grants +4 on to-hit rolls but damage is halved. (Elemental, and bane damage unaffected)
*[[Resilience]] (30 second cooldown, requires [[Constitution]] 13+, [[base attack bonus]] of +1 or higher): This [[feat]] reduces to-hit rolls by 4; attacks deal half damage but the character gains +4 to all [[saving throw]]s.
*[[Sap]] (15 second cooldown): This [[feat]] has a chance to render the target briefly senseless, though it will become active if damaged again. Some creatures may be immune to the [[sap]] effect.
*[[Slicing Blow]] (15 second cooldown): When this [[feat]] successfully lands, the attack will deal its initial damage plus additional damage as the target bleeds. Some creatures may be immune to the bleeding effect.
*[[Spring Attack]] (requires [[Mobility]], [[base attack bonus]] of +4 or higher): This [[feat]] allows the character to attack the targeted opponent and then spring quickly forward out of range. It also removes the -4 penalty to hit that melee attacks suffer while moving.This [[feat]] does not do additional damage. Note: although the official beta knowledge base still lists this feat as active, it looks like it may actually be a passive feat (the removal of the -4 penalty is at least confirmed to be passive).
*[[Stunning Blow]] (15 second cooldown): This [[feat]] has a chance to stun the target for a few seconds. Some creatures may be immune to the stunning effect.
*[[Whirlwind Attack]] (15 second cooldown, requires [[Combat Expertise]], [[Spring Attack]], [[base attack bonus]] of +4 or higher): This [[feat]] attacks all enemies in a 360 degree arc around the character.

==[[Passive feat]]s==
*[[Acrobatic]]: This [[feat]] provides a +2 bonus to the characters [[Jump (skill)|Jump]] and [[Tumble (skill)|Tumble]] [[skill]]s.
*[[Alertness]]: This [[feat]] provides a +2 bonus to the characters [[Listen]] and [[Spot]] [[skill]]s.
*[[Athletic]]: This [[feat]] grants a +2 to the [[Balance]] and [[Swim]] [[skill]]s.
*[[Heavy Armor Proficiency]] (requires [[Medium Armor Proficiency]]): This [[feat]] negates the penalties from wearing [[:Category:Heavy armor|heavy armor]].
*[[Light Armor Proficiency]]: This [[feat]] negates the penalties from wearing [[:Category:Light armor|light armor]].
*[[Medium Armor Proficiency]] (requires [[Light Armor Proficiency]]): This [[feat]] negates the penalties from wearing [[:Category:Medium armor|medium armor]].
*[[Bullheaded]]: This [[feat]] grants +2 to the [[skill]] [[Intimidation]] and +1 on [[Will save]]s.
*[[Combat Casting]]: This [[feat]] grants +4 to the [[concentration]] [[skill]] when spells are cast in combat.
*[[Discipline]]: This [[feat]] grants +2 to [[Concentration]] [[skill check]]s, and +1 to all Will [[saving throw]]s.
*[[Dodge]] (requires [[Dexterity]] 13+): This [[feat]] grants +1 to the characters [[Armor Class]].
*[[Exotic Weapon Proficiency]] (requires [[base attack bonus]] of +1 or higher): This [[feat]] negates the penalty from using an [[:Category:Exotic weapons|exotic weapon]] untrained. Unlike the [[Martial Weapon Proficiency]] and [[Simple Weapon Proficiency]], you do not automatically become proficient in all of the exotic weapons when you take this feat. It must be taken once for each exotic weapon you wish to become proficient in.
*[[Extra Turning]] (requires the ability to [[Turn Undead]]): This [[feat]] allows the character to [[turn undead]] an additional 4 times per [[rest period]]. This [[feat]] can be taken multiple times to increase the bonus. (? Verify ability to take multiple times - Now only able to take this feat once after update. ?)
*[[Great Fortitude]]: This [[feat]] grants a +2 bonus to all [[Fortitude save]]s.
*[[Greater Weapon Focus]] (requires [[Fighter]] (level 8) and [[Weapon Focus]] in a specific [[weapon type]]): This [[feat]] grants an additional +1 on to-hit rolls with the chosen [[weapon type]] ([[:Category:Thrown weapons|thrown]], [[:Category:Ranged weapons|ranged]], [[:Category:Bludgeoning weapons|bludgeoning]], [[:Category:Piercing weapons|piercing]] or [[:Category:Slashing weapons|slashing]]). This [[feat]] stacks with [[Weapon Focus]].
*[[Heroic Durability]]: This [[feat]] increases the characters maximum [[hit point]]s by 20.
*[[Improved Critical]] (requires [[base attack bonus]] of +8 or higher): This [[feat]] doubles the [[threat range]] of a certain [[weapon type]] ([[:Category:Thrown weapons|thrown]], [[:Category:Ranged weapons|ranged]], [[:Category:Bludgeoning weapons|bludgeoning]], [[:Category:Piercing weapons|piercing]] or [[:Category:Slashing weapons|slashing]]). This [[feat]] can be taken multiple times. Note: the official beta KB lists a minimum BAB of +7, thus the given +8 value should be confirmed.
*[[Improved Mental Toughness]] (requires [[Mental Toughness]], ability to cast 3rd level spells): This [[feat]] increases the characters [[spell point]]s by +5 each level and stacks with [[Mental Toughness]].
*[[Improved Mobile Spellcasting]] (requires [[Combat Casting]], [[Mobile Spellcasting]], ability to cast 5th level spells): This [[feat]] allows the caster to move about faster when casting a spell.
*[[Improved Shield Bash]] (requires [[Shield Proficiency: General]]): Enables the character to retain the [[shield bonus]] to its [[Armor Class]] when using [[Shield Bash]].
*[[Improved Shield Mastery]] (requires [[Shield Mastery]], {{Unverified|unconfirmed hidden prerequisite of [[base attack bonus]] of +6 or higher}}): This [[feat]] increases the amount of damage the character can block with a shield by +3 damage reduction for a total of +6.
*[[Improved Turning]] (requires [[Turn Undead]]): This [[feat]] gives [[cleric]]s and [[paladin]]s a better chance at turning the undead.
*[[Improved Two-handed Fighting]] (requires [[Strength]] 17+, [[Two-handed Fighting]], [[base attack bonus]] of +6): This [[feat]] increases the damage from [[glancing blow]]s when fighting with a [[:Category:2 handed weapons|two-handed weapon]] by 10%.
*[[Improved Two-weapon Fighting]] (requires [[Dexterity]] 17+, [[base attack bonus]] of +6 or higher, [[Two-Weapon Fighting]] or [[Ranger]] (level 6)): This [[feat]] adds a third attack to a two-weapon [[combo chain]].
*[[Iron Will]]: This [[feat]] grants a +2 bonus to [[Will save]]s.
*[[Lightning Reflexes]]: This [[feat]] grants a +2 bonus to all [[Reflex Save|Reflex saving throw]]s.
*[[Luck of Heroes]]: This [[feat]] grants a bonus to +1 to all [[saving throw]]s.
*[[Magical Training]]: This [[feat]] increases the maximum [[spell point]]s at 1st level depending on class. [[Wizard]]s and [[Cleric]]s get 120 while [[Sorcerer]]s get 200.
*[[Martial Weapon Proficiency]]: This [[feat]] negates the penalty from using [[:Category:Martial weapons|martial weapons]] untrained. Taking this feat grants proficiency in all of the [[:Category:Martial weapons|martial weapon]], so it only needs to be taken once.
*[[Mental Toughness]] (requires being able to cast spells): This [[feat]] Increases the characters maximum [[spell point]]s by 20 at first level, and 5 [[spell point]]s for each additional level.
*[[Rapid Reload]] (requires Proficiency with [[:Category:Light crossbows|light crossbows]]): This [[feat]] allows [[:Category:Crossbows|crossbows]] to be reloaded faster.
*[[Rapid Shot]] (requires [[Dexterity]] 13+, [[Point Blank Shot]]): Gives an extra ranged attack but reduces the characters to-hit by -2 for that attack. Or it could be: you can fire at a 38% increase with no penalty (according to data from shinyhalo's Rapid Shot topic).
*[[Resist Poison]]: This [[feat]] grants a +4 bonus to all [[saving throw]]s vs. [[poison]].
*[[Self Sufficient]]: This [[feat]] grants a +2 bonus to the [[Heal]] and [[Repair]] [[skill]]s.
*[[Shield Mastery]] (requires [[General Shield Proficiency]]): This [[feat]] increases the amount of damage the character can absorb when defending with a shield. The player is granted a +3 to [[damage reduction]].
*[[General Shield Proficiency]]: This [[feat]] negates the penalties from using a shield untrained.
*[[Tower Shield Proficiency]]: (requires [[General Shield Proficiency]]): This [[feat]] negates the extra penalties acquired from using a [[:Category:Tower shields|tower shield]] untrained (however the normal -2 to attack penalty still applies).
*[[Shot on the Run]] (requires [[Dexterity]] 13+, [[Point Blank Shot]], [[Mobility]], [[base attack bonus]] of +4 or higher): This [[feat]] allows the character to move while firing [[:Category:Ranged weapons|ranged weapons]] or throwing [[:Category:Thrown weapons|thrown weapons]].
*[[Snake Blood]]: This [[feat]] grants a +2 bonus to [[saving throw]]s vs. [[poison]] and +1 to [[Reflex Save|reflex saving throw]]s.
*[[Spell Focus]]: This [[feat]] makes it harder for enemies to resist the caster's spells. It adds +1 to the [[difficulty class]] of the spell. The available choices are: [[Abjuration]], [[Conjuration]], [[Divination]], [[Enchantment]], [[Evocation]], [[Illusion]], [[Necromancy]], [[Transmutation]].
*[[Stealthy]]: This [[feat]] grants a +2 bonus to the [[Hide]] and [[Move Silently]] [[skill]]s.
*[[Superior Two-handed Fighting]] (requires [[Strength]] 19+, [[Greater Two-handed Fighting]], [[base attack bonus]] of +16 or higher): This [[feat]] adds a [[glancing blow]] to the fifth attack of a two-handed [[combat chain]].
*[[Toughness]]: This [[feat]] adds +3 [[hit point]]s to the character and adds +1 per level for each level. This [[feat]] can be taken multiple times so that the effects stack.
*[[Two-handed Fighting]] (requires [[Strength]] 15+): This [[feat]] decreases the to-hit penalty on [[glancing blow]]s from -5 to -2.
*[[Two-Weapon Blocking]] (requires [[Dexterity]] 15+, [[Two-Weapon Fighting]]): This [[feat]] increases the amount of damage the character can [[block]] when defending with two weapons by +2.
*[[Two-Weapon Defense]] (requires [[Dexterity]] 15+, [[Two-Weapon Fighting]]): This [[feat]] grants the character a +1 [[shield bonus]] to its [[Armor Class]] when fighting with two weapons or +2 to its [[Armor Class]] when [[Defensive_Fighting|fighting defensively]] with two weapons.
*[[Two-Weapon Fighting]] (requires [[Dexterity]] 15+): This [[feat]] reduces the penalty to using two weapons at the same time (-6/-10). The penalty for your primary hand lessens by 2 and the one for your off hand lessens by 6. If the offhand weapon is light, the penalties both decrease by another 2 points (-2/-2).
*[[Weapon Finesse]] (requires [[base attack bonus]] of +1 or higher): This [[feat]] allows the character to apply their [[dexterity]] [[modifier]] to hit instead of the [[strength]] [[modifier]] when making melee attacks with [[light weapon]]s and [[rapier]]s.
*[[Weapon Focus]] (requires [[base attack bonus]] of +1 or higher): This [[feat]] grants a +1 bonus on to-hit rolls with the chosen [[weapon type]] ([[:Category:Thrown weapons|thrown]], [[:Category:Ranged weapons|ranged]], [[:Category:Bludgeoning weapons|bludgeoning]], [[:Category:Piercing weapons|piercing]] or [[:Category:Slashing weapons|slashing]]).
==Welcome and note==
Welcome to the wiki, and thanks for all your contributions! ''One note:'' you don't need to have a colon at the beginning of a wiki link unless you're dealing with categories, and only then if you're just providing a link to a category, like <nowiki>[[:Category:Armor]]</nowiki> for instance. If I put that wiki link on a page without the leading colon, then that page would be a part of the armor category. While it doesn't break anything to use leading colons on non-category links, it can be confusing to others who look at your code. No harm done, this is just an FYI. Keep up the good work! :) [[User:Dedridd|Dedridd]] 15:48, March 10, 2006 (EST)
==Naming conventions==

Hello, please visit [http://en.enterwiki.ws/w/Policy/Naming this page] to familiarize yourself with the naming conventions on the Wiki (yes I know, they are not applied everywhere, unfortunately). [[User:Tihocan|Tihocan]] 15:51, March 10, 2006 (EST)

:You're close! You don't need the [[Passive feats]] page (which still violates the naming convention, btw). If your intention was to create a definition page for passive feats, it should be named [[Passive feat]] (singular). Nor do you really need to redirect on the [[:Category:Passive Feats]] page. Just blank all the content on it, and one of the sysops can delete it. All you're missing is to put a <nowiki>[[Category:Feats]]</nowiki> tag on the [[:Category:Passive feats]] page, and you're all set! [[User:Dedridd|Dedridd]] 16:38, March 10, 2006 (EST)

==Categories==
All feats need to be in the Feats category, as well as Passive, Active, and/or Warforged. Otherwise you won't get a nice, full list of all feats in the game when you go to [[:Category:Feats]]. So go ahead and add Active, but don't remove the regular Feats category marking, please. [[User:Dedridd|Dedridd]] 16:54, March 10, 2006 (EST)
==Improved Shield Mastery==
Can I inquire where you got your BAB +8 prerequisite information for I.S.M.? I've been trying to figure out why my level 3 paladin couldn't choose this feat when the only prereq listed in the game was the Shield Mastery feat. There's even a thread about it on the ddo forums, and no one seemed to know what the deal was with it. If you have a confirmed source on this, then you're my hero. :) But I really want to make sure that this is verified information before I post about it on the ddo thread and link to the wiki. [[User:Dedridd|Dedridd]] 09:07, March 23, 2006 (EST)

:I was going to ask the same question. When you change something that differs from the official DDO website, could you please write down in the Summary box of your edit where you got it from? This will allow us to be confident about the change. Thanks! [[User:Tihocan|Tihocan]] 10:37, March 23, 2006 (EST)

::I asked a [[GM]] why my [[paladin]] couldn't select the [[feat]] at level 3. They asked around and told me that this was the correct requirement and that the official documentation needed to be updated. [[User:W4rma|W4rma]] 18:40, March 23, 2006 (EST)

:::Ok, thank you for the clarification! I'm going to continue to search for some someone who has in fact been able to choose this feat after hitting BAB +8. I'm wondering if this is programmed as a fighter-only feat, similar to [[Weapon Specialization]]. And others have said that this feat was never selectable in beta. Hopefully we'll find out the whole story some day... [[User:Dedridd|Dedridd]] 08:48, March 24, 2006 (EST)

:::Update: I should have read all my emails and private messages. I talked to the author of a very well written Paladin guide (which we have a copy of on our site, yay!) and he said he was able to choose this feat on his paladin at level 6, which would mean the BAB requirement may be only +6. I only trust GM's so far, especially if he had to ask around to get the info. I'm going to put a note on this saying there is some sort of hidden BAB prerequisite, and the actual value is unconfirmed. ==New stuff==
Ok, I've had about half these features live on my local wiki for a while, been trying to get them all ready before presentation. The last hangup has been the verification system - it works fine locally, but I can't make it integrate properly into the slightly strange site substitution we use here on the actual network. Anyway, I gave up for now, and just brought most everything I had live. My personal favorite isn't even listed on the front page there - see the bottom of any page for the new contribution attributions - once google crawls our site again, try googling your real name. More interesting results than usual, no? Anyway, another really cool one is the AJAX preview - try it when your replying to this post hehe. The rest are still too cool for words, which is why I am going to stop typing said words, press that awesome preview button just so I can see it in action one more time before bed, and go there. {{:User:Peerless/Sig1| 04:02, March 18, 2006 (EST)}}

::Yes, that is how it works. Just delete the Real Name field in the preferences to show username instead. I am suprised, however - do you not want attribution for your hard work and contributions? I sure do (-: {{:User:Peerless/Sig1| 16:59, March 20, 2006 (EST)}}

:::Sure - game stuff under my gaming persona, and work stuff under my professional persona. [[User:Dedridd|Dedridd]] 08:52, March 21, 2006 (EST)
::::I meant under your real name lol - whatever, up to you, thanks to being able to switch it off (-: {{:User:Peerless/Sig1| 16:03, March 21, 2006 (EST)}}

::Well, for now you can switch off javascript to do it... hmmm I'll need to think on this. What exactly isn't showing up right? If you mean the box showing what categories the page is in; that should be - wow your right it doesn't show up. Weird. I guess I didn't expect anybody to need to preview that - if you put it in category A, then it's in category A... I'm confused how that could be hard; but I'll work on integrating it. It may be really hard, as I already wrapped up the entire AJAX preview work and integrated it... {{:User:Peerless/Sig1| 16:03, March 21, 2006 (EST)}}

::::I see... d***it I have too many projects going. I need a tech team to yell at and throw projects to!!! This is driving me crazy. {{:User:Peerless/Sig1| 04:26, March 22, 2006 (EST)}}
==Advertising tone==
:I am far from having a tongue of silver - so, if you like, you can post for us lol - I barely have time to any; just tying to GET THE NAME OUT THERE. I post there, and am STILL surprised by people who don't know about the site - it's like OMG. How is that possible? But I guess we aren't as all-known as I think we are - good god though, 10,000 hits MINIMUM every day? Wow. Anyway - tihocan, get on MSN and I'll drop you the password to the EnterWiki admin account. {{:User:Peerless/Sig1| 14:49, March 23, 2006 (EST)}}
==Images==
I finally fixed the image system. Currently, you can upload DDO-specific images at [[Special:Upload]], and global images at [[img:Special:Upload|Special:Upload]] - in the process, I found two stranded iamges. Anybody know who these belong to? [[:Image:ScreenShot00001.jpg]], [[:Image:Equipment_slots.jpg]]? Also, if anything breaks or seems weird PLEASE let me know - if I have to change something on this system, it is TONS of work, exponentially more for practically every image that is uploaded. {{:User:Peerless/Sig1| 14:47, March 23, 2006 (EST)}}

:The second one, Equipment_slots.jpg is mine, and it's used on the [[Slot]] page. I had to re-upload it after the server move, so maybe it's the older version? Not sure, but when I follow your image link it all works and Slot is listed at the bottom of the page as a 'used by' link. No clue about the first image. Lets get a community going here, people! Where are you from? Just keep replies on the same indent for stuff like this, as you're all technically replying to me (-: {{:User:Peerless/Sig1| 20:55, March 14, 2006 (EST)}}
==New stuff==
Ok, I've had about half these features live on my local wiki for a while, been trying to get them all ready before presentation. The last hangup has been the verification system - it works fine locally, but I can't make it integrate properly into the slightly strange site substitution we use here on the actual network. Anyway, I gave up for now, and just brought most everything I had live. My personal favorite isn't even listed on the front page there - see the bottom of any page for the new contribution attributions - once google crawls our site again, try googling your real name. More interesting results than usual, no? Anyway, another really cool one is the AJAX preview - try it when your replying to this post hehe. The rest are still too cool for words, which is why I am going to stop typing said words, press that awesome preview button just so I can see it in action one more time before bed, and go there. {{:User:Peerless/Sig1| 04:02, March 18, 2006 (EST)}}

::Yes, that is how it works. Just delete the Real Name field in the preferences to show username instead. I am suprised, however - do you not want attribution for your hard work and contributions? I sure do (-: {{:User:Peerless/Sig1| 16:59, March 20, 2006 (EST)}}

:::Sure - game stuff under my gaming persona, and work stuff under my professional persona. [[User:Dedridd|Dedridd]] 08:52, March 21, 2006 (EST)
::::I meant under your real name lol - whatever, up to you, thanks to being able to switch it off (-: {{:User:Peerless/Sig1| 16:03, March 21, 2006 (EST)}}

::Well, for now you can switch off javascript to do it... hmmm I'll need to think on this. What exactly isn't showing up right? If you mean the box showing what categories the page is in; that should be - wow your right it doesn't show up. Weird. I guess I didn't expect anybody to need to preview that - if you put it in category A, then it's in category A... I'm confused how that could be hard; but I'll work on integrating it. It may be really hard, as I already wrapped up the entire AJAX preview work and integrated it... {{:User:Peerless/Sig1| 16:03, March 21, 2006 (EST)}}

::::I see... d***it I have too many projects going. I need a tech team to yell at and throw projects to!!! This is driving me crazy. {{:User:Peerless/Sig1| 04:26, March 22, 2006 (EST)}}

:::::I don't think it's a high priority problem, but I wanted to make you aware of it. [[User:Dedridd|Dedridd]] 08:20, March 22, 2006 (EST)
==Advertising tone==
:I am far from having a tongue of silver - so, if you like, you can post for us lol - I barely have time to any; just tying to GET THE NAME OUT THERE. I post there, and am STILL surprised by people who don't know about the site - it's like OMG. How is that possible? But I guess we aren't as all-known as I think we are - good god though, 10,000 hits MINIMUM every day? Wow. Anyway - tihocan, get on MSN and I'll drop you the password to the EnterWiki admin account. {{:User:Peerless/Sig1| 14:49, March 23, 2006 (EST)}}

==Images==
I finally fixed the image system. Currently, you can upload DDO-specific images at [[Special:Upload]], and global images at [[img:Special:Upload|Special:Upload]] - in the process, I found two stranded iamges. Anybody know who these belong to? [[:Image:ScreenShot00001.jpg]], [[:Image:Equipment_slots.jpg]]? Also, if anything breaks or seems weird PLEASE let me know - if I have to change something on this system, it is TONS of work, exponentially more for practically every image that is uploaded. {{:User:Peerless/Sig1| 14:47, March 23, 2006 (EST)}}

*Note that collector NPC's show up on the map as a triangle of little blue dots. Hover over those to find the name of the NPC you're looking for.

*Known rewards are shown for each collectible item. Ammunition means 20 quantity of any of the following: Arrows, Bolts, Shurikens, Throwing Daggers, or Throwing Axes.

==Welcome and note==

==Naming conventions==

==Categories==

:Excellent! And thanks for cleaning up all those feat categories. They're much easier to browse now. [[User:Dedridd|Dedridd]] 18:02, March 10, 2006 (EST)
==Improved Shield Mastery==
What namespaces need subpagination? Subpagination is like what you see currently on user pages and talk pages - for instance, visit [[Help_talk:Subpagination/1]] and see in the upper-right hand corner is something like < [[Help talk:Subpagination]]; if you visit [[Help_talk:Subpagination/1/x]] you should see in the upper-right hand corner is something like < [[Help talk:Subpagination]] < [[Help talk:Subpagination/1|/1]] or something. Why? As in, why would we use subpagination? You showed us the syntax for doing it and what it looks like when you visit a subpaged page, but what's the practical application for it, beyond Talk pages? I can't come up with scenarios that this type of organization would aid with. Perhaps this is something that we just need to set up as a need arises for it? You've got a more global view than I, I'm sure, and right now I can't fathom what I'd want to use it for, so I'm going to courteously obstain. :::It's not a huge deal - you just asked us to test it, and that was what I noticed. :) Using the firefox plugin using 'Weapons' as the search string, I get http://en.ddowiki.ws/?search=Weapons&fulltext=fulltext&sourceid=mozilla-search --[[User:Dedridd|Dedridd]] 14:19, March 22, 2006 (EST)
::::Think I fixed it - I've uploaded the new version to their service - click the link on this page. {{:User:Peerless/Sig1| 14:25, March 22, 2006 (EST)}}
:::::I'm not noticing any change in the URL the search takes me to, but I'm not sure if just reclicking the install link on their site will update it or not. I'll have to research it more later. [[User:Dedridd|Dedridd]] 14:31, March 22, 2006 (EST)
:Clicked to install, said ok, looks like it did nothing. Will give it another shot later. Is it supposed to work under Linux? [[User:Tihocan|Tihocan]] 11:34, March 22, 2006 (EST)

::It appears in the search bar - next to the URL bar in most installs? It normally searches google I think, but you can click on the google icon to get a list of the available ones. This was just thrown together using their API - I dunno if it's going to work right at all, I don't even use firefox. {{:User:Peerless/Sig1| 13:36, March 22, 2006 (EST)}}
:::Ah yes, here it is. Cool :) Any way to include search in categories by default? ;p [[User:Tihocan|Tihocan]] 14:03, March 22, 2006 (EST)
::::LOL I had forgotten about that - umm 5 seconds - done. Better? Should work from any search system now. Check if from both site search and firefox search. {{:User:Peerless/Sig1| 14:06, March 22, 2006 (EST)}}
:::Ctrl-K is the hotkey for bringing up the search engine dialog. The dropdown list in there has several search engines listed, one of which should be ddowiki after you run the quick little install. [[User:Dedridd|Dedridd]] 13:42, March 22, 2006 (EST)

Anybody care to test this out for me? {{:User:Peerless/Sig1| 20:30, March 21, 2006 (EST)}}

:Hey, that's pretty cool. I think I could make regular use of that. One thing that doesn't seem to work well - 'Category:Weapons' takes me to the right page when I type it in the search bar here on the site, but if I put that string in the search plugin, it gives me a search results page instead of taking me right to the page who's name I just typed in. Just plain 'Weapons' or 'weapons' also takes me to the search results page. Is it just not possible to go directly to a page if the exact page name is typed in? If so, then it's just my misunderstanding of how to use it. [[User:Dedridd|Dedridd]] 08:44, March 22, 2006 (EST)
:Same as Dedridd. This looks cool, but isn't there a risk of it being too complex for the average Wiki editor? Also, is it going to break current links? (I sure hope not). [[User:Tihocan|Tihocan]] 11:37, March 22, 2006 (EST)
::LOL It doesn't break links, thank goodness - but it allows for some interesting ideas. Watch: This page is a discussion about [[is a discussion about::Help:Relation]]. Simple right? But wait! Look at the bottom of the page! Not only that - once I get the search working, we can search for anything that is a discussion about anything else - we can search for anything about the sidebar, we can search for what Help talk:Relation is a discussion about, we can search for what relations Help talk:Relation has to Help:Relation, all kinds of things. We can search for attributes, etc. Let's see another example: If we are on the page [[Magic Missile]], we can safely say: Magic Missile can be cast by [[is cast by::Wizard]]s. Look at my code again and voíla - we can search for anything that has the relation 'is cast by' to the object 'Wizard's - that way, live list of every spell a wizard can cast! Kind of like categories on MEGA F***ING STEROIDS. Rightish? {{:User:Peerless/Sig1| 13:42, March 22, 2006 (EST)}}

:::Ok, yeah, that's a powerful feature. Like most powerful features though, it needs to be controlled or it's going to get out of hand. We have problems just keeping page names standardized. What if Fred comes along and uses the phrase 'is cast by', while Barney uses 'castable by' and Dino uses 'can be cast by'? The usefulness of the feature gets destroyed by nothing being in the same semantic category. It could get ugly fast unless there's some kind of page about how to use it, listing the initial intended uses, and what phrases to use. The other possibility is that without explanation, it'll be too abstract of a concept and it won't get used. More than likely, you're already planning on writing this up...
