Welcome!

May I extend my warmest welcomes and offer you any help you may need? Thanks for your contributions, mate!

...First, you may want to check out our FAQ page.
...There's a wealth of wiki documentation on the Help page, perhaps some of it may be of use to you.
...Before you upload your screenshots, which we really appreciate, please read our file naming policy.
...With the wiki's most recent update from version 1.17 to 1.19, we now have a section of buttons on the bottom of every edit page that should streamline and make template usage SOOO much easier... For some details about this, please see the help page for these buttons.
...There's a really good Introduction over on Wikipedia also, it should help you figure out what's going on if your new to wikis in general.
...Don't forget to change your DDO wiki user preferences.
...We pride ourselves on providing the best and most accurate information possible and are happy to reward our editors with extra privileges for making that happen. The first step in the promotion ladder turns off the CAPTCHA edit tests and you can check out the details Here.

If you need help with something above and beyond what the links above can provide...

...Someone is most always available! You can drop me a message on my user talk page (which I watch like a hawk), grab my other contact info on my user page, or ask one of the other 18 system operators .

Again, welcome to the wiki - and I can't thank you enough on behalf of the community for your help in making us the best DDO site around Cool Face

File Naming and Image Size/Quality[edit]

If you have not done so please read up on File Naming and Image Quality https://ddowiki.com/page/DDO_wiki:Naming_policy#File_naming. Please refrain from using ".JPG" use lowercase ".jpg." .png preferred they provided a sharper image without the wash out colors.

Okay. Still new. How do I change the file names once they are uploaded or delete them? I uploaded them and that was the default extension the snapshot program used. Just forgot to change them before uploading and wanted to be consistent. Also, this post is not in 'wiki' format. Did I miss a button that would automatically make it so and but the date and time as well? Thanks in advance.

If you look at your welcome section above, there have been two new sections added recently.

The first one is a link to the file naming policy that explains what we expect for that. We are unable to move / rename images on the wiki due to an issue that is out of our control. The only thing we can do to "move" or change a file name at this point is to DL the image to our hard drive, rename the image, re-UL it to the wiki making sure we have the correct file name of where we want it to go, then flagging the incorrectly named file page for deletion. We understand this is a lot of work, and we strive to make all new members aware of the naming policy right off to prevent us from having to do a lot of this.

The second new addition to the Welcome message above is: "With the wiki's most recent update from version 1.17 to 1.19, we now have a section of buttons on the bottom of every edit page that should streamline and make template usage SOOO much easier... For some details about this, please see the help page for these buttons." This includes a link to the help page for the new buttons that can be found at the bottom of the page that can greatly assist with using the various templates this wiki has available, including but not limited to the Post template which aids in the formating of talk page/discussion forum posts to look nice and neat with an automatic signature section, which can also be achieved using ~~~~ on any page.

I hope you find these new sections helpful to answer your questions! Big Grin

Okay. Thanks. Will work hard at not being such a "noob". Tongue Need to explore options on free software for color compression, sizing to 420 pix width, etc. Useraverage (ContributionsMessage) 19:17, August 21, 2012 (EDT)
Oh, if I do download the files and upload them with a lowercase extension, how do I go about getting the uppercase named ones deleted? Useraverage (ContributionsMessage) 23:54, August 21, 2012 (EDT)
You can flag files that should be deleted by the Template:Delete. Admins can then decide whether to delete the file or not. --Cru121 (ContributionsMessage) 03:55, August 22, 2012 (EDT)
