[edit] Annoying anonymous userI don't know if he'll cause further bother, but incase he does, could you watch this user? Thanks ^^/ I hate these people who are trying to purport their own sites - why can't we just have the WIKI, then they can go get users to visit their site by having a useful community or something? Gah I can't *belive* people would be... in-courteous enough to create their own information site. They aren't offering anything to the community; just trying to personally gain from their visitors - whether it is some sort of messed-up false 'internet status', or ad money, or what I don't know - I frankly think they are crazy. [edit] AdviceHey Tihoccan, I have a question you, actually I wanted your opinion on something. I am a 9th level Rogue and a friend of mine said that I should take 1st level fighter for my 10th level to pickup better weapons and extra feats (you get an extra feat at 1st level fighter). Do you agree with this?? I value your guys opinion (you and Sonil are great). Sorry if this is the incorrect forum or method of asking you a question like this. Thanks -Solomir
Hey Tihoccan. You always seem to have good advice (thanks for all that you've given me so far). I currently have a level 4 Drow wizard that's getting ready level up. My nephew suggested that I take one level of fighter because I could get to wear light armor (without using one of my wiz feats) and use shield. Also, I get a feat plus bonus fighter feat (Dodge +1 armor class). What you think?? Any downsides??. Thanks - Solomir
[edit] DistractionsI am working on another huge web project right now. I'm a bit distracted right now, so I just thought I'd let you know I am semi-AFP for a while. Possibly indefinately. I will still get edits to my user_talk page really quick, but I will likely no longer be watching the RC page. Just letting you know, you've been doing a pretty good job till now, and I'm sure you'll continue to do so. If you need to, you can promote robin or one of the other editors to full admin also, so they can help out. (-: Elliott Cable - ?+¿ - ‹·› 23:30, July 2, 2006 (EDT)
[edit] Advertising usersI jsut dropped by for a sec, saw this edit. I'd prefer if you could police these - I don't like our wiki full of links to outside sources. Either post on the forums requesting somebody to add the info to the wiki, or just delete the page - but better that the info not be linked at all if it isn't directly available to the users here. Thanks. Elliott Cable - ?+¿ - ‹·› 17:32, August 9, 2006 (EDT)
[edit] Numbers Project - Traps and LocksAs you know, I've been trying to add a lot of information to the traps and locks page. It's obvious that people are aware what the toughest traps and locks in the game are, but there's little information for what your Disable Device skill should be, say, while at level 4. As such, I've been trying to keep the quests sorted by level (as you've probably noticed). I have a little more sorting to do, but most are in order. My real conundrum comes with the story arc quests (such as Shan-To-Kor or Tangleroot). The story arcs contain multiple quests, many of which are at varying levels. Nonetheless, folks don't run the first quest of Tangleroot when they're at level 3, then come back for the next quest when they're at level 4, and so on. So, I'd like to keep quests together by level, but I also want to keep the story arc quests together. Yet these two goals just don't lend themselves together very well. I have the four quests from the Grey Moon Waning story arc in there - I believe I have them all listed as level 6 quests, yet the latter two quests are actually level 7 quests. So, in this regard, it's a bit misleading. One of the possible solutions I've been considering would be to keep most quests categorized strictly by level and then keep the story arcs in a different section. Yet this might be misleading, as well. What I'd really love to have (eventually), is some information that says that, "If you want to be able to flawlessly disable all traps for even level quests and below, you must have +## to DD." And that's just difficult to do. Also, I realize that the quest headers should be links to wiki pages with information regarding the quests, themselves, and I don't know that the format I'm using: [Story Arc], Part # - [Quest Name] is really very good for this. Or then again, maybe it is. I'm not really very familiar with the inner workings of wikis so I'm really just winging things. Anyway, I think I really just wanted to bounce some ideas off someone else to see if maybe you could come up with something else. Thanks. Mcglonec 16:46, August 29, 2006 (EDT)
[edit] Speed ImprovementsWell, I finally got around to it - how you like this? Elliott Cable - ?+¿ - ‹·› 18:03, September 12, 2006 (EDT)
[edit] Cleaning up QuestsI've been trying to clean up quests on the wiki. I've been adding some information, where I can, and I'm trying to make them easier to find, in a number of ways. Mostly, I've been creating new categories and trying to place appropriate quests into those categories. Right now, the only quest list I could find was this one, which lists quests by where you receive them. It's fine, but it does have some downfalls. For one, you can't find a list of quests by level, or by patron, etc. So, what I've done is created a few new categories:

[edit] X?I don't know. Something about dedicating the letter X to a guild is offending my sensibilities; I'd planned to perhaps create an alphabetical listing of EVERYTHING, combining quests and items and mobs and NPCs and etc, and using the letter pages for that. But that's beside the point, I really think one, two, and three letter names should be reserved for disambiguational, organizational, and navigational purposes. However, as always, I'll leave it up to you. He understands your decision is final, so do what you like. I'm out for the day again. Nighty night night, [e] · t & c 19:36, October 25, 2006 (EDT)

[edit] HeyCheck this real quick, please: Village_pump#Can_somebody_post_this_for_me.3F thanks! [e] · t & c 14:02, December 4, 2006 (EST) [edit] Forum signatureHey. I just finished building a forum signature with links to all the important pages on the wiki - if it's okay with you, I'd like you to use it for your signature on the DDO forums (europe or america, whichever you frequent) since you're an administrator here. Here's the BBcode:
Thanks! (-:
Mr. Cable 14:43, December 11, 2006 (EST) Hey, sorry I replied so late, somehow I had missed that one. I already have a link to DDOWiki in my sig, even though I don't spam my sig everywhere. I'll see if I can take some links from yours, but I"m not willing to have too big a signature (I find short sigs to be more efficients, otherwise people don't bother to even read them).
Tihocan 13:25, January 12, 2007 (EST) [edit] So where ya been?Lol yeah, that's an ooold message. And yeah that's fine by me. One other thing I wanted to ask you is if you are getting too busy to work on the wiki - that's fine by me, and I can find somebody to replace you if you so desire.
Mr. Cable 15:45, January 12, 2007 (EST) Well all help is always appreciated, if you can find someone else to help on admin jobs I have no problem with that, if for this you need to "demote" me I have no problem either, though I'd rather keep some of the admin priviledges like edit/delete rights in order to be able to do what's needed when I can. On another note, I should have more time now, I've starting catching up where I had left...
Tihocan 15:49, January 12, 2007 (EST) Well yeah, I just promoted Highway to Sysop, he's a huge help - and I asked that before I noticed your recent slew of recent changes (-; Just so you know, you're welcome to use the patrol tool to quickly review recent edits - all sysops and above are automatically patrolled, so their edits (our edits) won't show up in the patrol queue. There's lots of new toys for you to play with as well, that should make your life easier - live preview (visit the 'editing' section of your prefrences, and turn on both the 'preview on first edit' and 'live preview (experimental)' boxes), javascript sortable tables, page duplication (with history), new category tree tools, page contributors, the sParser mode (simple Parser), recentchanges auto-reload (more javascript), PPoIs, talk post templates, etcetcetcetcetc... I've been busy preparing the network LOTS of cool toys to announce on it's birthday lol.
Mr. Cable 16:16, January 12, 2007 (EST) Ok I see we have a new discussion format too... Looks like you've been working a lot on all that, it's great. And I'm glad you've found someone else to help :) I'll remove that PPoI right now, hehe, thanks!
Tihocan 16:25, January 12, 2007 (EST) Hmmm odd... I'll check that when I get home and have the correct permission set to modify the settings. The patroller tool should be available to all sysops and above, and you're a Bureaucrat... odd.
Mr. Cable 20:13, January 12, 2007 (EST) It's taken care of. Sorry, the permission set for Sysop was messed teh hell up big time lol - now you have lots of permissions you should have had before, and I thought you had. Odd.
Mr. Cable 21:29, January 12, 2007 (EST) Ty, seems to work! :)
Tihocan 13:50, January 15, 2007 (EST) [edit] Todo pageI was noticing there are a couple separate 'todo' pages around, maybe we should simply setup a specific todo page for everybody to share? Just an idea (-;
Mr. Cable 01:47, January 18, 2007 (EST) Well, why not, but as far as I'm concerned I'd rather keep my own Todo, as I can put anything I have in mind in it (of course if people want to do the stuff in there, I don't mind, hehe.
Tihocan 10:20, January 18, 2007 (EST) That works lol. Just a random idea.
Mr. Cable 11:43, January 18, 2007 (EST) [edit] Welcome templates changedJust so you know, since I know you use them too, the welcome templates have been changed to use the new post template - thus the subst: formula has changed too. An example of possible usage is available on my temps page.
Mr. Cable 11:43, January 18, 2007 (EST) [edit] Check this edit?I'm not sure about the correctness of some of these edits: this? Mr. Cable 15:21, February 24, 2007 (EST)
[edit] PingHey, mate, you around? Haven't seen you in a while - have you quit the MMORPG scene? Mr. Cable 19:23, April 27, 2007 (EDT)
Mr. Cable 19:23, April 27, 2007 (EDT) Yes I'm still around. The problem is I've been doing the Wiki at work mainly, and in the past few months I've been busier at work, giving me no time for the Wiki...
Unfortunately, it looks like it's going to be like this for a while, so I have no idea when/if I will be able to come back to regular contributions :(
Tihocan 12:23, May 1, 2007 (EDT) Hey - that's ok; do you still play the game itself? Just OOC (Out Of Curiosity, not Out Of Character. People always seem to get that confused d-:)
Mr. Cable 15:58, May 1, 2007 (EDT) Yes, still playing, but at home, not at work ;) I still enjoy the game a lot!
Tihocan 10:42, May 2, 2007 (EDT) Holy crap, I saw an edit in 2008. I thought you were dead [-:
