Augment Crystals

I've re-vamped Template:Augment on a sandbox so that it lists your choices when you mouse-over it. Some of the lists are kind of long, and I would like some input on if you guys think this revised template should be implemented. Here are the examples:

I am posting this on the talk pages of: Xevo, Yoko5000, Neouni, Borror0, UltraMonk, Backley, Shade, Raute borge, Yawgmoth, and LrdSlvrhnd Where-as I am posting this on multiple talk pages to get more opinion, I have included "Reply here" link as well→ ShoeMaker 18:53, May 29, 2011 (EDT) I've spent most of the last two years playing as a Wizard, Cleric, or Rogue and know little about DPS. The time came to TR my Rogue into a barbarian as I'm working on stacking some Past life feats to build a better rogue in the end and I've been using your TWF Dwarf BBN build that I found on the forums. Noticing that you made it pre-MOD5, do you have any recommendations to gear that may be better to use? I would like to kind of reformat what I see for that build into an easy to use level by level table... I'm up to lvl7 as a 34-point build (even though the build description is for 28/32 point builds, I put the extras into WIS and INT for Spot and extra skill point.) and the toon seems to be a BEAST using:

  • An Antique Greataxe
  • Twin Muckbanes until I just took level seven, and now using a Muck's Doom in primary and Muckbane in secondary until I get a second doom to dual wield them.
  • simple +2 Acid Maul of Oozebane for a skellie beater.
  • Using the full 5 piece chrono set since level 5 is very nice...
    • 10 resist to all but sonic
    • +3 to STR/CHA
    • +4 to CON
    • +5 to AC
    • +2 to saves vs psn
    • psn guard
    • shocking blow
  • I switch my trinket between a Greater Stalwart Trinket and Crude Bauble
  • Haven't found anything better than the +1 to hit Korthos goggles with the exception of Goggles of Time-Sensing if I remember I can Haste myself before raging.
  • I have a couple Ring of Rages to help cut back on my rage pot consuption if I remember to use them before bbn rage, otherwise I use guild pots which can be used while on BBN rage. I've also got a Ring of Feathers and a trash filler ring atm.
  • Belt is light fort
  • Necklace was Grim's Bracelet from level 3-5 is now a DSD clickie (which I use to switch back and forth).

If you have a little free time to check out your forum build post and update it (or give me some tips to build a nice build guild on the wiki here), I would very much appreciate that.→ ShoeMaker 11:36, July 13, 2011 (EDT)

Check out my gear section from my definivite guide to barbarians here:

[forums link] It's a bit more up to date and detailed.

Pretty much your gear seems fine for now. The main thing I see missing is some armor, the heavy deneith chain is a very useful item for lvl5, as life shield makes a huge difference at those low lvls. Alternatively I believe you can craft armor with that fairly easily now too. lvl7 you'll wanna get your flesh render goggles (if you havent already got a bta set), also a good time to get tangleroot done on elite, to unlock house p buffs. Yea it's an old build, but it's held up well today.. I still play that character too. Just tried out those earthshatter warhammers on him, they are pretty sick for what they work on (earht elem, gargoyle, etc)→ Shade 14:31, July 13, 2011 (EDT)

I started building that table, it's a little cluttered at the moment, and I have a bunch of alignment things to take care of, but I wanted to run my first bbn life up to 20 and fill it all in before I spend too much time worrying about formatting.. It's located at the bottom of the page Here..... Feel free to check it out and let me know what you think.. I need to find a necklace, better Armor, and a necklace. I have complete all of the quests levels 1-4 and the chains that start there (Including Tangleroot) up to Elite, with the only exception being Bookbinder rescue from Sharn because the dummy NPCs in the quest keep dieing on me.. EVoN2 Strategy

Hi, except the Symbol of Persuation part, I think the strategy provided by the rest of the video is still valid, isn't it? -- Gsklee 07:50, September 2, 2011 (EDT)

Yea mostly I guess. Just really it's quite old and the games changed a lot since then so duplicating it today in a similar manner would be really tough, and as such recommending it a strategy players may want to use is misleading. Like wall of fire, doesn't really do that kind of damage anymore cept maybe on a fire savant. But yea if you wanna re-add it with some notes about it's date and how the giant area wouldn't work like that today, go ahead. Decent enough video to showcase the quest i guess, if not be accurate in how you can beat it on epic today. --Shade 08:40, September 2, 2011 (EDT)

"Bugged" Templates

The reason all of these templates are broken is because when the wiki picked up a virus the other day and Xevo had to restore the wiki, he hasn't yet gotten around to re-installing {{var:}} and {{vardefine:|}} . I'll send him an e-mail and that should fix it.. The templates are not broken, the extension just hasn't been re-installed yet that they rely on. Frowning Face ShoeMaker 23:17, September 29, 2011 (EDT)

Dackle's Bugged Crossbow

I'm not saying it's not bugged. You mis-read my edit and undid other important parts of the edits. My edit says that that part of Dackle is bugged, and I'm guessing it is because his crossbow is defective/bugged and not working. ShoeMaker 19:37, October 11, 2011 (EDT)

Yea I get what your saying, but you were just speculating in such a way that was pointless so i reverted the whole thing, as that also matchs the devs comment. My comment matches the known issues (which i'd link you but the forums down..), while yours is pure speculation.

It can certainly make sense that he doesn't know how to fire a crossbow.. It's turbine were talking about. There have been stranger bugs.

He could also simply be lacking amunition (I recall this as the reasoning for other bugged non shooting monster fixes in past release notes), or any other variety of speculation as to why, just thought we should just follow what the devs said in this case.

Far as inserting a casual CR in there, eh..99% of monster pages don't have that info, it's superfluous as it's the same as normal. So just not inserting to for uniformity reasons. I did recently edit the Difficulty page explaining how monsters CR varied (or dont in this case).

Using the colors or not doesn't really matter to me.

PS: Speaking of the known issues we can't look at now.. We should cache a copy of that page on our wiki for reference at times like these. Also would be nice to add a 2nd section to explain which known issues are simply wrong/unverified, as the current official list is quite a mess of mis information imo. → Shade 03:54, October 12, 2011 (EDT)

Sonic Blast AoE

Could you take a look at Talk:Sonic Blast, and tell me where I'm going wrong with testing the shape of its AoE? Or let me know that I can change it back - I don't want to start a reversion war! :) -- Raumkraut 09:44, October 30, 2011 (EDT)

New, not sure how to correct/update info but see a correction that needs to be made

Browsing through the Quests category, I selected the Free to Play sub-category. Listed in that sub-category, is at least one that requires access to an Adventure pack. Here is the direct link to the quest I am referring to: https://ddowiki.com/page/Dr._Rushmore%27s_Mansion:_Behind_the_Door On the page for the quest itself, it states, verbatim, "Requires access to adventure pack: Vaults of the Artificers", which requires either VIP or purchase, making it not "free-to-play". As stated in the subject line, I do not know how to correct this myself and browsing through the help section did not tell me. I do not know who else to mention this to, so apologies if I have told the wrong person in the wrong way. Mephisto VI (Contribs • Message)

That's a challenge quest. All challenges are indeed free to play, partially. Read the linked adpack for more information on that Vaults of the Artificers.

I've cleaned the adpac msg from that page, since it does say "requires" and thats not accurate. You can run it for free, if you get some free tokens to do so.

Did not see that disclaimer at the top before I posted. Thank you for pointing that out.

Unique Two-handed weapon Cat issue

After looking into the problem a little more deeply, I see the problem.. There is nothing wrong with the template as far as doing it's job to cat stuff, the problem lay in the weapon page editors use of the template.. They hare typing "Two-handed weapon" into the "|hand = " argument instead of just Two-handed. I think with some fidgeting, I can get it to detect that, strip the word weapon off the end, and let the template work as intended.. Think I will play with the idea in my template:sandbox first though. Smile ShoeMaker 19:34, December 27, 2011 (EST)

Ok.. So I played with it in my sandbox and came up with:

{{#if:{{#pos:{{lc:{{{hand|}}}}}|weapon}}|{{#ifeq:{{#expr:{{#len:{{{hand}}}}}-{{#pos:{{lc:{{{hand}}}}}|weapon}}}}|6|{{{hand|}}}s|{{{hand|}}}}}|{{{hand|}}} weapons}}

Which says: If the word "weapon" exists --> Check to see if the entire length of the argument - the starting point of the word weapon (Leaving just the word weapon and beyond) = 6 (# of letters in the word "weapon", "weapons" would be 7) --> If it is 6, then the word "weapon" exists, add an "s" to make it "weapons" --> if it is not 6, then assume it is already "weapons" and pass it through --> if weapon did not exist to start with, add " weapons"

Cool Face It is doing what it is supposed to as can be seen if you read the "Categories: ...| ... | ... | Category:Unique Two-handed weapons | ..." line at the top of the Category section
Confused Face However, in the sub-cat system, it is not working right..
... > ... > ...
... > ... > ...

Category:Root > Category:DDO library > Category:Items > Category:Unique weapons > Category:Unique Two-handed weapon
I suggest asking Yoko5000 (Contribs • Message) or Xevo (Contribs • Message) after waiting 24 hours from the time of this post to see if it is some kind of caching issue that may fix itself in a little time. ShoeMaker 13:53, December 28, 2011 (EST)

Nevermind... As you can see.. My second example using Category:Unique Two-handed weapon turned to a redlink while I was typing previous post, this means it was a caching issue and it fixed itself.. Big Grin ShoeMaker 13:55, December 28, 2011 (EST)

Greater Acid Arrow

And was there any particular reason you reverted my edits? Sure, Greater Acid Arrow will now work, but I would think that going straight to Acid Arrow instead of going through a redirect would be better. LrdSlvrhnd 20:04, December 29, 2011 (EST)

Was just faster then manually typing in greater to create the new redirect page. revert (fast singleclick style), click thru to redlink, redirect. For effeciency sake mainly. Though I disagree it "would be better". Theres nothing wrong with single redirects. They have the advantage of showing the user what they clicked on on the upper right, so the user can be sure they are reading the page they wanted and didnt misclick. Disadvantage is I guess the (very) minor bandwidth cost for the server to load data from 2 files rather then 1. So i dunno about better. It saved me time in that case, and will save other editors time in the future creating more item pages, redirects are good for that. You can un-revert the change if u want, makes no difference to me.
