Epic level/heroic level quests with different names[edit]

Hi, the problem with filling both the level/epic fields in Madstone Crater/Return to Madstone Crater and similar quests is that the {{ Quest }} template categorizes them in both levels. This makes them appear in quest lists that they shouldn't. When listing the C:Level 14 quests, you don't want a bunch of epic quests appearing there as well. Same goes with a link in the place of a number. As you can see in your revision, the template tried to add a couple of categories called [[Category:Compendium:Level Madstone Crater (24 epic) quests]] and [[Category:Level Madstone Crater quests]] at the end of the pages. In addition to wrong categorization, most templates use the level/epic field as an indicator of which xp values are present and thus, those templates will present erroneous info (see C:DDO Compendium which is already broken with all kinds of quests).

The |shares favor= parameter is a new parameter that I added to some quest pages and haven't yet requested its addition to the {{ Quest }} template because it's related to things in development (Talk:Different quests that share favor and Template talk:QTL).

|xp= and |epicxp= on the other hand hold the links to the quests (a wrong decision in my opinion, but will be able to change that once |shares favor= parameter is introduced). It helps a template of mine (User:Faltout/SandBox/DPL category attribute sum using User:Faltout/SandBox/Max quest favor) to automatically add the favor of all quests in the game correctly and it currently works. It's how I was able to update the Favor page with the accurate totals.

Bottomline, if you want to request changes to how the {{ Quest }} template works, please do so in Template talk:Quest. So far I'm the only one requesting changes to the template and it's very hard to get my thoughts through alone given that the main developer of the template thinks "Template is fine as is". So please add your concerns in there. Faltout (ContribsMessage) 06:35, April 28, 2018 (EDT)
