DDO is recognised as having a lot to learn at the start. The aim of this guide is to give you what you most need to know, when you need to know it as you're starting out. We understand it can be frustrating but it's such a beautiful game we want you to get over that learning curve as smoothly as possible so you can come play with us.
We're also very interested if you have any suggestions as to how we can make this guide better: if you're a brand new player please tell us what would be helpful in this guide here. Your fresh eyes can help other new players to the game.
What type character should I play first?[edit]
A major strength of DDO over other games is character customisation based on the original pen and paper. However if you're the type of player who wants to just start playing and come back to detailed character customisation later there are ways to skip the detail. Every class plays differently so your personal preferences will make a difference to your enjoyment.
