Overview

Mystichaze Shastein asked you to protect a mage who's bringing in a shipment of Cannith weapons from Eberron. She needs to do this at an ancient Planesgate located at the end of Perdition Pass.

Meet the mage at the mouth of Perdition Pass, which is on the other side of Devil's Spine on the Southern edge of the Devil Battlefield.

Spoiler Warning: Information below this point can be considered spoiler material!

Objectives

  • Protect the Planescaller
  • Hold the Planesgate from Devil attacks
  • (Failure) At least one player must hold the Planesgate until the shipment arrives
  • (Optional) Find and destroy the Devil base: (40% of base XP)

What to Expect

  • Traps (fixed, 1 undisarmable)
  • Quest failure (if Liella dies)
  • Spawning/respawning monsters
  • Protect an NPC (mandatory: Liella)

Known Traps

  • Fireball blast at Devil base entrance

Tips and Misc

  • Liella d'Orien - often nicknamed as "that girl", "the ultimate zerger" - gained a notorious fame because she used to move forward really fast in here. It has since been toned down a bit and now she only moves forward fast. You'll wanna hit her up with Stoneskin, Blur and some other buffs before you talk to her.
  • Once outside the caves, you will need to dispatch some minor resistance first before Liella entering her position, and waves of enemies will begin to swarm in.
    • This part of the quest has been seriously revamped post-U11:
      • You no longer need to protect Liella from this point on.
      • The battle is now a wave-based event that spawns new enemies when all of the previous enemies are either dead or charmed, at least on Normal and Hard. Enemies seem to spawn continuously on Elite regardless of whether the previous wave has been pacified or not, making it considerably tougher.
      • The total number of mobs you need to slay now scales heavily depending on your party size and difficulty selected, ranging from 30+ when soloing Normal, to 300+ on a full party Elite. The number for Hard is much higher than Normal and reports at over 230.
      • If there is no one left holding the battle ground, the quest instantly fails. Be very careful when falling back into the caves to shrine!
      • The archers can provide a lot of additional SP to casters who have Torc and/or Con-Op items. The Tiefling Bowmen are your mana batteries.
  • After a time, the spawns cease and you're treated to what's almost a cinematic of a Pit Fiend challenging Liella - only to be challenged himself by an ancient Warforged Titan.
  • The Titan will always win, so you can basically pike through the boss fight. You can also use spells to haste and rage the Titan, or even attempt to carefully get a few licks of your own on the Pit Fiend, without pulling aggro - if you're willing to wait quite a while, as the Titan does rather poor damage. Gaining the Pit Fiend's attention and killing him yourself is riskier, but will end the quest much more quickly.
  • The Pit Fiend, Gorgith-Tor is challenging to tank, but really no more so then any other major end boss in the various quests in Amrath, so you should be able to handle him if you expect to complete other content in this area.
  • The Titan's massive blows shake the area. Those with poor Balance will get knocked down, even tossed. Stay close to the center of the area. Come too close to a titan's attack and you might need a Cleric to reconstitute you from the pasty goo you've become from the titan's blow.
  • Many players run this quest often in search of ingredients for the Boots of Anchoring.
  • For players in need of a substantial bit of XP, returning through the portal after completion to the Devil Base will do the trick. Prepare for many archers, spawning devils, and a small pit fiend at the end for a chest with generic loot (and chance at The Mad Lute).

Loot

  • NPC rewards: Random Item. Level 14-17. Reward list only contains 4 items.
