The Necropolis[edit]
If you try to talk to him before you finish the pre-requisite quests, he will reply:
- The Herald: Nerezza calls himself the Herald of Shadow. A pity he chose the Abbot's path... I'm sure his knowledge could add to my own. Although I long for battle, I must wait until he translates the Apocrypha. I sense he is close. His time is soon to come.
After you complete the four tombs surrounding the Shadow Crypt, and is at level 6 or higher, he will reply:
- The Herald: Brother Nerezza stirs below in his crypt. You must not wait... enter the crypt and destroy that foul creature. Only then may we claim the second chapter of the Litany.
- You: Do you know anything about the crypt?
- The Herald: Not much, I'm afraid. We hired a team of mercenaries to enter the crypt and map it out... all but one were lost. And the survivor's mind was shattered beyond repair. He could only stammer and drool. A shame, really. But then again, we didn't have to pay them...
- You: Great, sounds like it should be a lot of fun.
- The Herald: Nah, not a thing to worry about. The Shadow Council should be waiting for you just inside and they'll guide you straight to Nerezza. Piece of cake really.
- You: That sounds more like it. (Bestow quest)
- You: I cannot go right now. (Walk away)
- You: Do you know anything about the crypt?
Talking to him after acquiring the quest, but before completion, will make he say:
- The Herald: The time is right to strike out against Brother Nerezza. Do not stry from your path.
On completion of quest, he will congratulate you with the following:
- The Herald: News of your deeds is spreading quickly through the camp. The Emerald Claw is most impressed. But our work is far from finished.
- You: Two of the three brothers are no more. That leaves Maldetto. Soon it will be finished.
After completing the quest and taking the reward, if you talk to him again, he will reply:
- The Herald: The Black Abbot is nearly ours! We must break the seal to Maldetto's crypt if we are to continue. When the gates to the Cursed Crypt have opened, speak to Kai-Teng for more orders.
