Primal Avatar and other in development EDs[edit]

Hey, I see a non-live ED in the main TOC. I find it misleading and would rather see it done a little differently.. I intend to log to Lama today to see what else is new, heard there may be some nature one for Druid as well and if I come up with something better than what currently is, I'll post the idea here. For now, I'll leave it as is. ShoeMaker (Contributions Message) 11:26, October 8, 2012 (EDT)

Just wanted to mention here that the Fatesinger icon that was uploaded earlier today is linking to the image file page instead of the fatesinger page. The link below the icon is linking to the correct page though. Not sure how to fix it myself. Susalona (ContributionsMessage) 11:55, October 8, 2012 (EDT)
ya, fatesinger link was just a simple coding error. Primal Avatar page clearly states its upcoming/non-live thing so whats wrong with it?
btw i was looking at this (didnt know about it untill it shows up on my random google img search) and found out this → UnknownED.png would be the icon for planned cleric ED. the name for it announced yet? i wasnt following dev tracker too closely lately, so anyone know? yoko5000 (ContributionsMessage) 12:48, October 8, 2012 (EDT)

Two Rows[edit]

That's a bummer that the destiny header is now two rows. On my screen (1920x1080 @ 125% scaling) there is now an ocean of space between each icon, wasting tons of vertical space. A single row fit perfectly. EllisDee37 (ContribsMessage) 11:22, April 26, 2017 (EDT)

  • On my screen there was an overflow off the edge of the screen. I can trim it a little, it's just going to take me a little time to make it work. Be patient.
    • Just for reference, I have a pretty typical setup: 1920x1080 @ 125% DPI scaling and 110% firefox scaling on ddowiki. Here's how the old single line header looks on my system, compared to how this new two line header looks. Tons of wasted whitespace in the two line version, and the one line version isn't any more squished than any of the other sections. ClassesTOC has 14 icons in a single line, Feats has 13 icons in a single line, so it seems like 12 icons in a single line should be fine for destinies. • I have recently grown fond of tables as inline blocks. Whaddya think about a compromise as shown below? Needs LOTS of polish, of course... Template:CruLore --Cru121
  • Take a look in #tech-chat on Discord chat server. I'll make some adjustments tonight that will get rid of the header rows. ShoeMaker (Contribs • Message) 18:09, April 26, 2017 (EDT)
    • My 2 cents is that this new display looks much worse than the old single-line display. Plus, it's inconsistent. The inconsistency sticks out like a sore thumb on the dashboard. EllisDee37 (ContribsMessage) 21:54, April 27, 2017 (EDT)
      • Single row is not an option as it causes horizontal scrolling which is 100 times worse than vertical scrolling. Classes and Feats will need to be condensed as well since they also cause horizontal scrolling, they can be brought in line with the new look of the EDs TOC or the EDs TOC can become taller again if you like that look better. ShoeMaker (Contribs • Message) 23:04, April 27, 2017 (EDT)
        • Horizontal scrolling seems to only happen for you, and only recently. It has never happened for me. Did you change something on your computer? Or has there been a horizontal scrollbar for you for the past 3+ years, and you just now decided to fix it? EllisDee37 (ContribsMessage) 00:47, April 28, 2017 (EDT)
        • "like the idea, but width issue def needs to be resolved. according to my ex-coworker, international trend on website width is only started shifting from 800 to about 950 right now. so yea 1080 isnt the way to go... i am running 15 inch/non-wide screen monitor, so i know the current layout issue on 800 screen taht you mention (middle section gets slightly larger due to images on the middle of sitemap)... that doesnt bother me much though, just have to zoom out one degree..." → yoko5000source I'm running at 1024x -- So above the international trend mentioned there. We should not "assume" all users have a resolution higher than 800x600. If I have horizontal scroll at 1024x, people still running 800x certainly do too. ShoeMaker (Contribs • Message) 01:19, April 28, 2017 (EDT)
        • Is there a way to set up the TOC templates to conditionally display either 1 row (widescreen) or 2 rows (standard def) based on something in the user's config page, like how the dashboard header sections get suppressed if you add that user page? EllisDee37 (ContribsMessage) 03:45, April 28, 2017 (EDT)
          • I could add some ids to the rows so that jQuery could be used to render it differently for people with JavaScript enabled on wider screens. It would be a lot of work to do so, so I'd have to see a reasonable desire for it from the community for me to invest what would likely be 10-40 hours of time developing it so that it would work correctly in all skins for all browsers on all platforms. ShoeMaker (Contribs • Message) 06:37, April 28, 2017 (EDT)
          • I think I have an even better solution to this problem. I hope you have time to pop into the Discord chat server today and I can explain it (as I work on it all day). I'll be shown as offline, but if you @ShoeMaker#2561 me, I'll respond. ShoeMaker (Contribs • Message) 07:56, April 28, 2017 (EDT)
