Solving Puzzle[edit]

Bucket of Destiny bug?[edit]

this edit says "If you cannot interact with the latrine pool despite having the bucket, then you need to both set at least one tent on fire, and move near the waterfall to get the poison the water supply objective BEFORE interacting with the Alchemy Table containing the bucket. This requires a reset of the dungeon."

First of all, this is verifiably not happening all of the time because the party has been able to interact with the latrine 100% of the times I ran the quest without activating the optional or setting any tents on fire. Secondly, the "solution" is not actually an immediate solution because it requires the restart of the dungeon. Last but not least, I do not believe there is a bug (...having never experienced it...) because I did experience something similar: Multiple party members can get an empty bucket from the alchemy table but when one of them interacts with the latrine the rest cannot interact with it anymore. This is because there can be only one bucket of destiny. I discovered this because I kept trying to interact with the latrine to no avail until I noticed a Bucket of Destiny on the ground from one other party member that died. I picked that up and completed the optional.

This is why I'm removing that statement and adding a note about the fact that only one party member can have a bucket of destiny. If anyone can verify (by going in the quest solo and not being able to interact with the latrine while having a bucket) that this bug exists, then add this statement back in the page. • I've had the 'Bucket of Destiny' bug out several times whilst soloing, which prevented me from using the bucket for interacting with the waterfall, etc. Therefore the: Poison the water supply Optional, simply could not be completed. So it certainly should be mentioned there is current bug regarding the "bucket" and the recommended sequence of steps (or precautions) to help prevent it bugging out. I don't know what the solution is though; to help prevent it from bugging, and I've only had the bucket function correctly twice in the past... Albeit I've only run the quest about seven times in total (all were solo).
Some fairly recent DDO Forum discussions about the "broken" bucket are below:

  • Read the forums threads and went and tested it. Seems like clicking the latrine or the waterfall without the bucket makes you not able to click them again. Will add the bug in the page. Faltout (ContribsMessage) 08:37, October 6, 2020 (EDT)
  • I'm the one that reported this one to start - it can indeed still bug out with the bucket in your inventory - you just don't get an interaction wheel on your mouse pointer at all when hovering over any part of the latrine pool. When this is happening, you do indeed need to restart, go near the waterfall so you get the message about how it would be a shame if something happened to their water supply, AND set at least one tent on fire (order doesn't matter on the first two steps) before grabbing the bucket and interacting with the pool. Finally figured this out after about 2 hours of resets - fun stuff. Why the heck is it working that way? No idea at all - but I've soloed this thing... I don't even know how many times - and it's been going on for me since I started playing it years ago. Tested oh gods I dunno probably about 15 times while I was working on figuring out WTH. Exclusively solo testing though - have yet to try it in a party.— previous unsignedIcon tooltip.pngPlease sign posts using ~~~~ comment by 76.169.10.156 (d| r| b) at 12:40, October 10, 2020 (UTC)
    • Turns out you don't need to do any "ritual" to avoid the bug like you were previously saying. Instead, you need to click on the objectives in order: Get bucket, click latrine, click waterfall. Clicking latrine or waterfall before their time will need a restart if you are solo. If you are not, you can still use some other party member to fix the order. • I'm glad that works for you - but you know what, before the first Feywild pre-patch that didn't work for me. At all. Yes, I tried that and every other sequence I could remotely think of. Only way that worked was the one I posted. Have you been playing the same game as the rest of us? You seem bizzarely convinced that there's no way that bugs hit people differently, and DDO lives and breathes that kind of nonsense and always has - since the day it came out. And now, with the first Feywild pre-patch, no method at all works. I just got done retrying it all, and not a single thing works to make that objective function for me as of 10-24-20. Not yours, not mine, for all I know not Sora Kell's herself. Quelle Surprise - this never happens at all... cough. I'm sure everyone writing about the bug is just incompetent or did it wrong - that has to be it! Approaching comments and adds dismissively just because you've not personally experienced the problem is no way to get anything done in a Wiki that relies on user contributions.— previous unsignedIcon tooltip.pngPlease sign posts using ~~~~ comment by 76.169.10.156 (d| r| b) at 04:20, October 25, 2020 (UTC)
        • Ok, here's the deal: I have played the quest many times and I had it completely bug 0 times. However, having noticed some weird things with the latrine, I was suspicious that you (like many other players that report "bugs") encountered some weird issue, did some hocus pocus that doesn't make sense and declared it a bug. I repeat, this is common practice in the forums and this wiki. However, after reading the threads in the forums (provided above by Dywypi), I realized that there is indeed a bug (the one that I mentioned above) and I also went in the quest several times to test it. I even tried doing weird things that may break it even further (like not killing the mages to drop the initial barrier, or killing stuff ahead and returning back to do it). In none of the tests did I encounter a bug where you are unable to perform the optional if you have not set the tents on fire. And nobody except you is claiming that. So if what you are saying is that a certain character build bugs the quest, then go ahead and mention the build or share a video where this happens or pictures of the steps you took and did not work. If you know other players experiencing this bug, then let's hear their takes. If you cannot do any of those things, write a server, hour and your character name so that I can join you in a party and see this bug first hand. (leave that info here or in my talk page or a private message in the forums or an email to my user) Faltout (ContribsMessage) 09:38, October 25, 2020 (EDT)
