Talk:Chest ransack

From DDO wiki
(Redirected from Talk:Ransack)
Jump to navigation Jump to search

I'm not certain this should be classified as "game bugs." It is a mechanic and anti-farming measure. However, I can see how a new player that doesn't get anything out of a chest could mistake this for a bug. Taurolyon 16:43, May 10, 2011 (EDT)

The page is linked to The Game Bugs category  because the bug template is used (on the Tip about re-opening a chest to see the warning that you will get next time). Backley 16:48, May 10, 2011 (EDT)
ye, intension of the category is not that we create pages per a bug but that we list pages that have references to game bugs. yoko5000 19:18, May 10, 2011 (EDT)
That's what I figured. I did read that, and wasn't certain if the category/template was warranted about a simple note regarding a bug. Taurolyon 00:10, May 11, 2011 (EDT)

Is rerolling counting as another opening a bug or not[edit]

Bad timing on my part, sure, but we should NOT get a ransack/empty chest when we pay for a re-roll. AmIRight?

Chest re-roll does not count towards ransack. If you experience something different, please take a screenshot if possible and send it to ddobugs.turbine.com. Thanks!

All right, our QA folks re-tested this and were able to reproduce this issue. We've entered a bug on it and will investigate the cause and fix. Thanks to everyone for taking the time to look into this.

That's part of the original thread, and that's already in their cross-hairs.

This new bit is the insane Shard amount getting picked up from somewhere. And quite honestly, it was more amusing that OMG!ish.

It get´s one to say "hm...?" on how this is calculated . I always wondered on the same chest (same difficulty, non-ransacked) getting different shard costs from time to time. Seems there is something with the formula.

  • This is the last I can find of this... There is nothing in any of the Update/Patch/Hotfix notes about it ever being fixed. If someone can provide some kind of source as to when this was fixed, that'd be great (I know it was fixed, because I have guildies that use the "reroll" feature and they've told me it was fixed, just looking for the "when"). Just went ahead and tested this to be 100% sure - it's definitely not true. Rerolling has 0 impact on chest ransack, which is the intended interaction. If you see anything that isn't working as intended (ie a chest that ransacks before you've looted it 8 times) please send in a bug report.

Quests with both Heroic and Epic[edit]

Does ransack apply on such chests apply separately or jointly with the Heroic and Epic versions of the quest? John34404 (ContribsMessage) 16:41, January 21, 2020 (EST)

Any commands to check chest ransack?[edit]

Does DDO have any / commands that can be used to measure or check chest ransack?

I've gotten the notice, and I realize I have been farming Amber Temple kinda hard. But I am unsure of when I first opened the named loot chest. And thus - unsure of when the ransack timer will expire.

Cauthey (ContribsMessage) 23:00, October 29, 2022 (EDT)

There is now (Oct '23). Not sure when this was added, but under Options, choose Gameplay. Then switch on the option at the bootom "Enable Detailed Chest Information". — previous unsignedPlease sign posts using ~~~~ comment by Anthorin ( c |d| r| b) at 11:29, November 5, 2023 (UTC)

  • Thank you for this; we did have a record of it on the page, but it was pretty easily missable (I know I missed it), so I've expanded on it. PurpleSerpent (ContribsMessage) 09:19, November 5, 2023 (EST)
