Tested snowball and freezing sphere for putting out torches today 3/7/12, the former did not work and the latter did. Added mention of the sphere to wiki. Noticed erroneous mention of CoC in the walkthrough but not sure if there's any etiquette for editing what looks like a copy/paste of his walkthrough so leaving it alone. ~Suriag.

The only thing I see referring to CoC that may be erroneous is the fact that is allegedly no longer works... IIRC, I have used it post U13 successfully... I will check again to confirm and then modify one way or the other. -- ShoeMaker (Contributions • Message) 00:15, July 3, 2012 (EDT)

I've tried CoC post U13 and it didn't work. The change must be older (maybe U12?) -- PCrazee

Cone of cold functionality for the torches.

I have used Scepter of the Ogre Magi cone of cold clicky to extinguish the flames before. Dont really want to revert the edit of User ArgentMage about that as i havent tested with scrolls of cone of cold.Sforza (Contribs • Message • Email) 14:43, November 19, 2016 (EST)

So that's what I tried on two occasions over the past two days - Scepter of the Ogre Magi cone of cold clicky, and it didn't work. Scuttlebutt from the forums was that CoC doesn't work at all, so I took it as something that has changed. I also could not get ice mephit breath to work as a backup, either, so maybe something has just been wrong the past few days. This life i didnt use scroll nor the scepter, actually forgot to bring stuff for the torches but used the mephits for the torches, both fire and air. I ran the quest last week, around the 15th. Havent tested the scepter lately so i will leave it as is untill i test later, but i know for certain that at least the mephits work. OK, I'm starting to think this may be related to the problems they were having that required multiple server restarts last week, since both times I ran it the Acolytes also did not pull me over to the Inferno side in the first gate room. U51 Bug

• Flaming Sphere certainly works, just jump up upon the torch and cast it at your feet. The sphere then will appear on top of the torch - instead of uselessly rolling around on the floor. Wall of Fire, isn't meant to work anyway (according to the Wiki) I get the impression the bug is related to a spell targeting issue.

Even though they aren't spells; the rogue Alchemist's Grenades are great; point-blank hit the torch columns. That way you won't overshoot, with their thrown trajectory arc. You don't even need to aim at the torch heads.

I cannot remember if Sleet Storm was working or not (extinguish), I had a useful stack of cheap grenades and plenty of mephits to dance with... The Mephits were fully functional for both: extinguishing and igniting roles.

• My disability affects my grammar and my short-term memory is also faulty. I wasn't actually disagreeing about there being a bug. Perhaps "evidently", would have been a better word. I meant there had been reports there is bug and Cordovan agrees, etc. Although we haven't confirmed in minute detail which specific spells - or methods out of those listed - have stopped working on the torches. The Elementals in Epic were also mentioned as being faulty, it's all fine don't worry. Some methods are functional and some aren't at the moment with regards to interacting with the torches. :-)

• I understand you weren't disagreeing about the bug - otherwise, you'd have taken the whole template off.
