Number of related pages[edit]

I don't believe any page containing "heal" in its title is relative when you search for "Heal". Furthermore, too many pages in the list would need a separator (like Wikipedia does it). Tech13 wants to use an auto list for some weird reason. If anyone else agrees with Tech13's opinion, say so. Faltout (ContribsMessage) 13:13, November 25, 2019 (EST)

  • I don't think that all pages are automatically relevant. It does have the additional disadvantage that if a newbie editor tries to edit the article they will fail. Cru121 (ContribsMessage) 15:34, November 25, 2019 (EST)
    • Agreed with these sentiments. TMI and irrelevant to user intent. meander (ContribsMessage) 08:08, November 26, 2019 (EST)

Restored page and redirects. Please stop removing requested links from a disambiguation page.  👟 ShoeMaker (Contribs • Message) 👟 18:11, November 26, 2019 (EST)

  • You are the one who keeps bringing irrelevant links in a disambiguation page. The difference between disambiguation and the search bar is that when you land on a disambiguation page you expected that typing that term would get you to the page you wanted. One cannot possibly expect Night-Black Coffee Health Vigor to be under a page named "Heal". Faltout (ContribsMessage) 18:30, November 26, 2019 (EST)
    • They're not irrelevant. Night-Black Coffee Health Vigor is what I expect to find the healing effect for Night Revels. It's not just about what you expect to find when you search for "heal", it's what everyone expects to find. When I manually rebuilt the list, I eliminated the two "irrelevant" links, because apparently two links that went to a redirect and a sub-page was too much.  👟 ShoeMaker (Contribs • Message) 👟 18:46, November 26, 2019 (EST)
      • It's not what I expect. It's a different page name and could never be the page "Heal". The only options that need to stay in the disambiguation page are the ones that could be under a page named "Heal". Everything else is "pages that are related to healing effects or healers" and can be found by using the search function of the wiki. Faltout (ContribsMessage) 19:02, November 26, 2019 (EST)
        • A search for "heal" doesn't mean you're looking for only things named "heal", it can mean you're looking for something related to healing. I've protected this page and DAB since you insist on edit warring instead of discussing it out.  👟 ShoeMaker (Contribs • Message) 👟 19:06, November 26, 2019 (EST)

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── Not only is this not Wikipedia, as you acknowledge, but their example of Mercury on Wikipedia supports having anything related to the topic, as we have it now.  👟 ShoeMaker (Contribs • Message) 👟 21:59, November 26, 2019 (EST)

  • still way too many things on that list. If this were a root-word directory, that would be one thing, but if I type Heal in the search box, I am not looking for a person, an item, or things with Health in them. For instance, if I type the word "sword" I don't want all items, skills, and named NPCs with the word "sword" to pop up. At the moment, this is too inclusive and needs to be more discriminating, in my opinion. meander (ContribsMessage) 22:30, November 26, 2019 (EST)
    • I honestly don't think it's inclusive enough. When I type in "heal", I want to know all the ways I can be healed or heal others. It should include repair, reconstruct, inflict, harm, and boon of undeath things as well.  👟 ShoeMaker (Contribs • Message) 👟 23:00, November 26, 2019 (EST)
      • Interesting, that sounds like something that I could find under game mechanics from the wiki home page. "Everything you ever wanted to know about keeping someone/thing alive.' It would still not include Boromar Healer/Vaunt Healer, or Item:Legendary Many-Pouched Belt of the Healer. Speaking for myself, I would search that as "healing" because it's the action of keeping something alive, versus Heal which is more like a noun-form for the skill, scroll or spell (which is where I'd be asking the disambig list to go). I like the idea of a descriptive page with all the means of keeping something standing, which seems entirely different from the scroll/spell/skill with a proper name of Heal. Hope I am making sense. meander (ContribsMessage) 00:25, November 27, 2019 (EST)
