Unarmed Strike[edit]

Wondering if it is confirmed that handwraps slow your unarmed strike. And how/where this was confirmed. How much slower is it? I put another post on Talk:Unarmed Strike to be sure this is noticed. Jandragarious01 (ContributionsMessage) 20:06, August 11, 2012 (EDT)

Lesser Parrying[edit]

This page mentions Lesser Parrying, does this effect exist in game, and if so, what is the bonus? Please link a screenshot so I can adjust the Template:Parrying appropriately. Thank you -- ShoeMaker (Contributions Message) 13:40, July 10, 2012 (EDT)

No, the page mentions the lesser "Parrying" effect (lesser compared to "Greater Parrying", not named "Lesser Parrying"). Quote from the page:

Handwraps with these following properties currently don't exist in the game.

  • Greater Parrying suffix (The lesser "Parrying" suffix is present on same handwraps)

Lesser Parrying was not mentioned and doesn't exist in-game. Backley (ContributionsMessage) 14:12, July 10, 2012 (EDT)

I understand the difference. Thank you Backley... Big Grin -- ShoeMaker (Contributions Message) 14:15, July 10, 2012 (EDT)

This article seems more inclined in talking of the programming/game mechanic detriments (a necessary evil), rather than noting as well the popular types, rares and uniques. I'll add in sections that provide that info. --Spencerian 23:17, January 30, 2011 (EST)

Heh, kinda funny that we both went to edit it at about the same time! I fixed several redlinks and some wording; nice job on the article itself! - LrdSlvrhnd 01:30, January 31, 2011 (EST)

this page is getting a bit long, try shortening maybe? --yoko5000 12:53, April 22, 2011 (EDT)

Can you add info on how/if critical strikes work on handwraps?[edit]

How do critical strikes process on handwraps, if they do at all? Do they only process on a natural 20? Do attributes like Ribcracker do extra damage? What about disruption or banish? Is a Seeker +6 of Improved Ribcracker a good combination for a pet collar or is it worthless because there's no critical? Is there any additional damage done by Holy Burst compared to Holy?

I have the same question about a pair of Thundering handwraps. They give the bonus damage on a critical. /advice says it works off monk critical, but I have no idea.

Using Handwraps with Pale Master Zombie Form[edit]

  • Is this beneficial? How does the +1(w) work with handwraps? I'm assuming it is very basic and straightforward, in other words, no big deal, use them, but can someone put in a little section on Pale Master + Handwraps with correct information? tyvm ;>jamvaru (ContributionsMessage) 17:19, February 12, 2015 (EST)
    • This is likely better answered in the unarmed combat page rather than the handwrap page. To answer your questions, however, it (should) increase your W damage of your unarmed combat. Habreno (ContributionsMessage) 13:44, February 13, 2015 (EST)

Obsolete[edit]

  • Whole article seems obsolete after U33 and need be re-write. — previous unsignedIcon tooltip.pngPlease sign posts using ~~~~ comment by Ulfo ( c |d| r| b) at 12:23, January 14, 2017 (UTC)
    • Strongly disagree. Despite handwraps now being weapons, the article as a whole is still very accurate. While a couple points could use clarification/fixing, the article does not need a rewrite. Habreno (ContribsMessage) 17:29, January 15, 2017 (EST)
    • I've moved some stuff around into a new 'History' section. Feel free to discuss the change or move stuff around. --Cru121 (ContribsMessage) 03:34, January 16, 2017 (EST)
  • I'm returning after a couple years away and this article still seems to read as "handwraps are only for monks" and I know that they've been designed to be used by other classes for quite some time including warlocks, druids in certain animal forms, and it appears also for razorclaws. I'd love to see some updates to the article and/or discussion on the talk page or/and Discord chat server for the wiki. Thanks if you can help!  👟 ShoeMaker ( Talk • Contribs • Patrol • Moves • B • D • I • PP • UM • UR ) 👟 13:24, January 3, 2023 (EST)

Linking to the Category:Handwraps Page[edit]

  • People looking for the Named/Unique items are often redirected to this page. I have been trying to add the link, but have yet to figure out how to it acts differently to other links examples: (1 Category:Handwraps) (2 [[1]]). (User_talk:John34404) 03:34 January 18, 2020 (CDT)
    • To link a category, you place a colon in front of the link. Otherwise, it adds the category to the page. That's the correct link: [[:Category:Handwraps]]. I've corrected your link above because it places the current talk page in the Handwraps category. Faltout (ContribsMessage) 08:39, January 18, 2020 (EST)
    • To properly link a category on DDOwiki, please use the {{ Cl | Category name }} template. Thanks.  👟 ShoeMaker (Contribs • Message) 👟 20:28, January 18, 2020 (EST)
