Question

Apparently the reduced chance for doubleshot to proc with repeaters is 1/3 since they fire 3 bolts at a time. Does any one know if when Doubleshot procs they get 1 extra attack (3 bolts) or just 1 extra bolt? the 1/3 chance to proc could follow from the chance to proc being per bolt fired each having a chance to proc it... or it could be from the number of extra bolts that would result in a successful doubleshot proc. ~71.104.216.171 (Contribs • Message • Email)

Test 1

Bought 10 stacks of 100 bolts. Recorded active stack amount before and after firing each volley. Did not fire a volley if less than 6 bolts remained in the stack. Epic Past Life Feat Double Shot: acquired 2 times. Wearing Item:Skirmisher's Bracers (Level 26) Expected Doubleshot chance = 6 + 8 = 14%

• Interpretation of results:
  • Assuming each normal bolt has the same chance to trigger an extra bolt from doubleshot.
  • Assuming each extra bolt has NO chance of triggering additional bolts.
  • Calculated odd of doubleshot is approximately 14.5%
  • Direct odds of doubleshot for sample is 13.66% = 965/(283*3)-1

Test 2

Bought 9 stacks of 100 bolts. Recorded active stack amount before and after firing each volley. Did not fire a volley if less than 6 bolts remained in the stack. Epic Past Life Feat Double Shot: acquired 2 times. Wearing Item:Skirmisher's Bracers (Level 26). Took Master of Imbuement. Expected Doubleshot Chance = 6 + 8 + 10 = 24%

Repeater Testing (Part II)

With the most recent patch notes once again state that:

Repeating crossbows now have 1/3rd the chance for Doubleshot. Doubleshot can now "wrap" and cause a third or fourth shot if it goes above 100%.

The above statement has always been the what the developers have told the players about doubleshot and repeaters but since the statement has been repeated I will repeat my testing.

Methodology: Summoned two stacks of 1000 bolts. Loaded Heavy Repeating Crossbow. Stack reduced to 997, trash stack of 997 conjured bolts and equip fresh stack of 1000. Manually click fire and record stack total after each click. Do not continue if stack is less that 6 bolts. Test was conducted with Character Sheet reporting 21% Doubleshot.

The data seems to make it a pretty clear that Doubleshot is now working as the developers intended. With 21% Doubleshot reported on my Character Sheet I am clearly only getting about a 7% chance of firing an extra bolt for each bolt that would have been fired. In total 308 volleys would have fired 924 bolts at 0% Doubleshot, in my test my 308 volleys loosed 996 bolts which is 7.79% more bolts that if I had zero benefit from Doubleshot.
