Prestige enhancements (PrE) are powerful lines of enhancements that allow a character to specialize his character further. Prestige enhancements give more benefits than standard enhancements, and they usually provide both passive benefits and new abilities. Because of the nature of these enhancements, each class's prestige enhancements are mutually exclusive. A character with multiple classes can have one prestige enhancement line for each class he or she has.
Each prestige enhancement line, with the exception of Archmage, has up to three tiers, with the first available at class level 6, the second at 12, and the third at 18. Due to their power, they also require the character to have particular Feats and standard enhancements as prerequisites.
Prestige enhancement lines are not the same thing as Paths, though they sometimes share names.
