DDO Preview Ends[edit]

The DDO Preview is over. We’d like to thank everyone who participated and hope you all had as much fun as we did. Winners for both the Billing Stress Test and the Preview will be contacted via e-mail later this week.

Don’t forget, DDO is still available for preorder, either online or in many stores. Preordering DDO gives you up to 10 days of access* to the Beta, a special in-game item, and headstart access so you can reserve your character name and start playing before the game officially launches.

Turbine FilePlanet are pleased to present FilePlanet members with another exclusive look at Dungeons & Dragons Online™: Stormreach™. This is your chance to get a preview of one of the most anticipated games of 2006. Create your character and prepare for battle within the great walls of Stormreach!

All registered FilePlanet users in North America can sign-up for the chance to access the DDO Preview, which will run from Thursday, January 19 through Saturday, January 21. Preview access will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis until the allotted Preview registration keys have been distributed by FilePlanet. If you are not currently a registered FilePlanet user, you can visit FilePlanet right now to create an account and then sign up for the DDO Preview.

During the Preview event, Turbine Admins will be logging in at random times and asking Dungeons & Dragons® related trivia, giving players a chance to win 10 day DDO game cards (valid for 10 free days of DDO access once the game ships, requires purchase of the full, commercial release version of DDO for use) and a chance to win a signed and framed piece of DDO concept art.

New Developer Diary & New Preview Posted[edit]

The latest Developer Diary at GameSpot is online, where Senior Designer David Eckelberry describes the life of a game designer on Dungeons & Dragons™ Online: Stormreach™.

Most of the "big" design work on Dungeons & Dragons Online is, thankfully for this stage of the project, complete. That means the fundamentals of the game for release are done: character classes, races, skills, spells, monsters, treasure effects, and the like. With that said, my job is nowhere near complete.

Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson Provide Voiceover for DDO[edit]

Turbine, Inc. and Atari, Inc. announced today that Messrs. Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson, the legendary co-designers of the world-renowned fantasy roleplaying game DUNGEONS & DRAGONS®, have agreed to provide some of the voiceovers for DUNGEONS & DRAGONS ONLINE™: Stormreach™. As creators of the original pen and paper game, they will provide the game’s first celebrity “Dungeon Master” voiceovers for certain in-game adventures.

European Beta Begins[edit]

Turbine and Codemasters are pleased to welcome the European community to the city of Stormreach! The first batch of invitations to the European Beta have been sent and the European Beta has begun. Preorder Bonus Keys[edit]

You can now activate your preorder bonus key. Doing this will create a game account that you will be able to use once the headstart begins in late February and allow you to obtain the +1AC amulet. Again, the amulet will become available once the headstart begins. This account can then be upgraded once you get the retail copy of the game which will allow you to continue using the account once the game officially goes live.
